I'm goin' home
And when I wanna go home
I'm goin' mobile
Well, I'm gonna find a home
And we'll see how it feels
Goin' mobile
Keep me movin'

I can pull up by the curb
I can make it on the road
Goin' mobile
I can stop in any street
Invitin' people there with me
Goin' mobile
Keep me movin'

Out in the woods
Or in the city
It's all the same to me
When I'm drivin' free, the world's my home
When I'm mobile

Hee, hoo!
beep beep!

Play the tape machine
Make the toast and tea
When I'm mobile
Well I can lay in bed
With only highway ahead
When I'm mobile
Keep me movin'

Keep me movin'
Over 50
Keep me groovin'
Just a hippie gypsy

Come on move now
Movin'
Keep me movin', yeah

Keep me movin', groovin', groovin', yeah
Movin', Yeah
Mobile, mobile, mobile, mobile...

I don't care about pollution
I'm an air-conditioned gypsy
That's my solution
Watch the police and the tax man miss me
I'm mobile
Oooooh, yeah, hee!

Mobile, mobile, mobile yeah

Love hearing those lines!

They bring back warm memories of my lone cycle tour of Scotland one summer. After a few hours pedalling against the driving rain, I pulled into a lay-by where there was a bright yellow double-decker bus.

At first I thought it would be a bunch of juggling, anarchist hippies, but it was a retired engineer and his young grandson – like something directly out of a Roald Dahl story!

They invited me in out of the rain, put the kettle on, and we compared notes about all the great things to see in Scotland.
Just us among the pine trees and waterfalls, in the middle of nowhere.
One of the best albums of 71 thanks!

I saw them last weekend and they were great.
Rogers voice was as I'd remember it, Pete's guitar also, and the musicians were great. So all in all I enjoyed it very much.
My only regret is I did not catch them live before...

17 years old in 1971 when this came out and i thought it was just about the corniest song i ever heard
"wip ho, beep beep"{#Redface}

Love it!

I love your posts - they remind me that I have a brain and I need to trot it out and exercise it sometimes. Thank you for that.  And every time I hear this song, I'll think about you and smile.

One of the joys of seeing songs come back into rotation on RP after several years is seeing Cynaera near the top of the comments.  Her relentless positivity always brings a smile.
WEE HOO!!!  BEEP BEEP  LOVE IT (goin gypsy : )
Geeeez.

When is this band gonna get a decent drummer. Boring.

I mean, I hear this kind of drumming every day with the bands of the 21st century!
F**k Yeh.
I love this song and this whole album.{#Clap}

  Geographically large countries are not a rarity, but one with such a network of drivable roads and a splendid variety of geological, horticultural and cultural diversity affords the opportunity to drink deeply - which we did. Thanks for the compliment, we're kicking off the 2011 season of travel with a journey to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival April 29-May 6. I never dreamed Wally would be with me for all these years, but he's still willing to go whenever a door is opened. Not bad for a blind and deaf 140 year old.

Yep - the photographer had to fill his empty film canisters with rainwater and then pour the contents at the appropriate "strategic" points on the monolith.  The site of the photograph is a waste dump.  This monolith is one of several put in place to keep the waste from shifting within the site.

Funny story, they actually had stage fright when making this photo, they had to cheat and pour  rainwater on the monolith!{#Lol}

Good song from this album which I think is their best.  Just what is "an air-conditioned gypsy?"

One of my favorite songs from my favorite band. I play guitar and am interested in classic rock because of pete townshend
This song makes me think of my best friend, who lost her home to some bad circumstances and ended up with a pickup truck and an RV. She now travels with her husband, who goes where the work is.  She's my Gypsy on the Road, and this song describes their life perfectly.  They're much happier now than they ever were when they were rootbound!  "I don't care about pollution - I'm an air-conditioned gypsy! That's my solution - watch the police and the tax man miss me - I'm MOBILE!"

Yep, love this song.{#Daisy}{#Sunny}
A perfect album.

Ketih's lead drumming.  John's lead bass playing.  Pete's rythmic guitar and overall genius and on the rest of the tunes besides this one - Roger's emotional belting.
Top 10 album cover...that poor monolith!

That sounds like a helluva lot of fun. Here's to great adventures! Cheers!

You can't get much bigger than The Who.

And an air-conditioned one, at that.
What did Daltrey do while Beaty, Big, and Bouncy played this great song?

A miss variety in the hit or miss Who song spectrum. {#Snooty}
I bet it splattered on their shoes...
Album-song...both "tens"
Volume UP.
I like The Who when they're subdued like this and just show what they can do without all the bombast and crap. Stuff like "Who Are You" or "Eminence Front" — forget it.

More Entwistle!

lol@sirrus

this song goes down as the most played in my head tune on my first bike tour from Arcata to San Francisco thru the redwoods and then along the rugged northern Californian coast .  First year out of the house, on my own, on the road - goin mobile!

Hey Roger,

Can you hear me now? :)
