There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust
This is a place where I don't feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home.

And I built a home
for you
for me

Until it disappeared
from me
from you

And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust........

Out in the garden where we planted the seeds
There is a tree as old as me
Branches were sewn by the color of green
Ground had arose and passed its knees

By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world
When the gusts came around to blow me down
Held on as tightly as you held onto me
Held on as tightly as you held onto me......

And I built a home
for you
for me

Until it disappeared
from me
from you

And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust........

One of my rare 10. This song makes me pause and sit and listen. It reminds me of my love. My life and how little time I have left to make an impact. That the universe/world owes you nothing. And all of the things I worry about. Things I chase. Will be irrelevant on that day when I climb that tree just to see the world knowing it is my last day.

Over one's life, all the little impacts add up to a lot. I suspect you've notched hundreds -- like your lovely post.
A little of Anthony and the Jacksons in it -

Exactly why I can't appreciate it.
Puts me to sleep every time.
This and Arrival of the Birds carry something truly special. I find it impossible to not let them on replay.
In the dark of actual events, this song is even more sad.
Sounds like Coldplay

Another one of those "only ever heard it on RP" songs.  Songs like this just grow on me after my many years of listening.

Dang I need another RP shirt!  We should all order one right now!
definitely a Mom song for me as well. Raised 4 hellions who put her through some tough times but who turned out OK.

every time, tears. so beautiful. i get sad, but i can't turn this one off when it comes on rotation. definitely a 10.
video is heartbreakingly beautiful, also.

Thanks, intheworks.

My mother too, four ROWDY sons she raised to become educated, well-mannered professionals who truly believe all people are equals.  She built our home with love, kindness, and a willingness to talk with us about anything in the world.

Need I say this song is a 10?
One song that will bring me to tears - every time.

Yet, they are happy tears of connection with the words and memories of my children when they were young. Now, in my 60s, this song hits home even stronger.

engaging, mellow obvious instrumental talent..   great peaks and valleys

this lyrics say so little and mean so much..
Listening to the lyrics gives me goosebumps.
A beautiful song. Brings out all the feels. I love how it shifts back and forth between the  solemn drifting pace of the verses to the surging urgent pulse of the chorus. It's unsettling, in a good way.

Chimp on piano.

Those opening chords!
this reminds of Paul Stamets's story of when he climbed a huge tree after taking some psilocybin mushrooms. A lightning storm roared around him for seemingly hours and he held on to that tree for dear life and had an ineffable experience.
After, he climbed down, and his debilitating stuttering had vanished and he could say Hi! to the girl he had always been too shy to say hi to.

This has gone from an 8, to a 9 and now a 10 for me with each repeated hearing. Just lovely.
Isn't it Patrick Watson? Did i misst something?
If not, it's a pervect cover version.
Still wonderful though!

Being but men, we walked into the trees
Afraid, letting our syllables be soft
For fear of waking the rooks,
For fear of coming
Noiselessly into a world of wings and cries.

If we were children we might climb,
Catch the rooks sleeping, and break no twig,
And, after the soft ascent,
Thrust out our heads above the branches
To wonder at the unfailing stars.

Out of confusion, as the way is,
And the wonder, that man knows,
Out of the chaos would come bliss.

That, then, is loveliness, we said,
Children in wonder watching the stars,
Is the aim and the end.
Being but men, we walked into the trees.

(this is Dylan Thomas, not me!)

I walked into a tree once. It hurt like hell and I saw stars for a bit. Never did that when I was child.
Thanks for sharing the poem. Very Nice.
… the major lift… lovely.
I love this track and the imagery and the feelings it evokes. Childhood memories, reinforcing the thoughts I've been having in my mind lately that time is fleeting. Try to make every moment count.
Impossible for this to not stop me dead in my tracks anytime I hear it.

Gotta be careful though, because this one on repeat can really mess you up on the wrong day.

10. You can feel this one in your bones, your blood, and the goosebumps it creates.

Preach

It's a wonderful album by an outstanding group, well deserves the 10.

Drop this song in the right moment in the right room and watch everyone go silent :-)
The overwhelmingly positive and poignant comments must certainly put this song in the pantheon of RP favorites. Please remember to support your friends at the RP Ministries Church of Chill who bring us this and many wonderful moments of reflection through song.

Same. Makes for great introspection.
The tenderness of this piece seems to tap into the collective vulnerability this pandemic subjects us all to.

Damn I’m trying to out of my car but RP keeps me here!
Touching It reminds of a tree we used to climb in Brooklyn N.Y. when were kids Yes we were on top of the world
Gorgeous beyond words.

My hairy appendage and I live in a house we spent a good few years building (and it'll never be quite finished, if I'm honest) on a field he used to play in as a child. The house and its surroundings are more than just bricks, mortar and soil; it's all part of us, under our skin, in our blood and bones. One day, it - and us - will be nothing but dust. It's how it should be.

This is a true stop and listen and think about those who have gone and love those that are here - this track is used in a series - not sure if Netflix or Amazon!  "This is Us" and is played at one of the most powerful points in series 2
Love love love this song. Lyrics and music are in perfect synchronicity. Tremendous.

A true desert island song.
Beautiful words, beautiful song.
Just ... sublime. True art.

We had an organist that played at my parent's wedding, and ours too (some 50 years apart). Also a cello player, so when they remodeled the organ and added a Kurzweil keyboard to it that she could play a cello voice through, she would every chance.

I really enjoy this bands music - lush and beatiful. And lyrically gorgeous as well. I just wish I didn't find the vocalist insipid; knocks it down to a 7.

It's very good - it's also the most played track on RP.
First few times I heard this song I could have sworn it was Coldplay... but the more I hear it, the more I realize, this is what Coldplay would sound like if they had actual talent!

I totally get that, too, and upon first hearing it years ago it was my initial thought also, but I then realised after a few listens that it is miles apart from Coldplay in the songwriting quality, and then, you start to “hear” it...   This realisation was most likely because I listened to all of their matterial.  It’s now my favourite song of all time - it’s just a shame RP doesn’t play more of their music!
