If I only knew where you're taking me
Maybe I would know who I'm meant to be
If I only knew where you're taking me
Would I be afraid?

If I'd had the time to pack a bag
To say goodbye, to not look back
If I'd picked out those precious things
That I'd hold close as the night draws in
Would I be afraid?

If we hadn't left in the dead of night
Two silent shapes in the endless black
If the hazy ray of dawn
Had lit the path of your frightened pawn
Would I be afraid? Would I be afraid?

The sea and the storm rock our boat
Our beautiful peagreen boat
The sea and the storm rock our boat
So surrender me to the whim of the waves
Surrender me, surrender me.

You are reffering to KT Tunstall?

Bill just put Army Dreamers in the playlist immediately following Sophie!
Reminds me of the theme song to Casa De Papel.

reminds me of Mariam Wallentin's "Raised By The Wolves" series' title song
What an amazing voice and violinist.
KT Tunstall's voice is  unmistakable. Lovely

Such a beautiful Song - and such a wonderful album! Don't miss it!

Ooops. Lyrics now posted.

Have enjoyed this song on RP for years, but am I really the only one to appreciate the 'Owl and the Pussy-Cat' reference (Edward Lear poem)?
Well done

Dang, she sounds interesting—  Sophie Solomon (born June 6, 1978) is a British violinist, songwriter and composer who fuses many different musical influences into her music...

Solomon began playing the violin at the age of two. At four she met Yehudi Menuhin and was taken to see the great cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. For the first five years she played totally by ear, learning to read music at the age of seven...

I am glad I have not rated this song yet— there is still time to resurrect it... it be growing on me...  hmmmm...

I know exactly what would have happened if I had given my son a violin at age two... and it would have ended with me thinking "That's why we can't have anything nice around here!"
KT's voice is chocolate for the ears.

Bill should follow up with Lazarus by PT and David Bowie. {#Cheesygrin}
Very nice

Thanks for that. I had sort of guessed it as I'm a big fan of KT, and I don't think Sophie Solomon does much singing. Lovely song, lovely singer, dreamy instrumentals. Beautiful :o)

If so, then that's Bruce White playing the really sweepy, melancholy bits.

Gorgeous song tho.  Sophie is a great composer!
Ha Ha! Just found this on her website. This gal is so cool. {#Cool}
Elements sound like Firefly series soundtrack?
Very nice regardless...to Amazon we go...again {#Hug}

Nice song, haunting. Her vocal style is too much of a ripoff of KT Tunstall though. Like they had the same vocal coach or something.

Easy for you to say.

I'm ashamed to say that this is my first listen, and I heard "If I Were A Rich Man" from "Fiddler on the Roof."  Not a bad comparison, though - and this is mournful, evocative, and rather achingly beautiful.
Beautiful song   {#Daisy}
must get this.  delish!
 rjewyo wrote:

Um... maybe its a step down... tonality wise?  Kinda in between the cello and violin...

A-HA! I thought for a moment it sounded like KT Tunstall...

... Turns out KT's a vocalist on the track. As I'm a devout fan of all things KT, they should consider this purchased by me already (having only heard this for the first time now, shamefully).

Another excellent pick Bill!

Tasty cello.

Thanks Bill..I am working late, but your music is making it alright  {#Wink}

Does anyone know where I could buy and download an MP3 of this song? RP has a link to iTunes, but it's not available there, atleast not in the U.S.
Thanks!

Same here, but KT does guitar rather than violin. They are both excellent, expressive singers. 8 from the Nottingham jury.

And from her wiki page, she plays the violin!

"I love her eyes, she seems lost in the music pathways of her mind. best place to be."

I just love, love, love this tune. Solomon's playing + Tunstall's voice + the lyrics = heartbreakingly beautiful.

It is KT?  I guess I needs to check me some internets.

Sounds like we need Angela McCluskey and KT in a concert set or album together.  Maybe with Brandi Carlile?  {#Smile}
Nice
what a voice and its great that there is a symphony behind her
This is such a great song...
Wow, really nice.  Had to stop and see who this was. Play it again, please!

very in the moment love hearts
STOP playing all this great music.  it is keeping me from working.  I have to comment on all this great music.  But then again, it is a welcomed distraction........(Keep it up, my bosses will never know)
I knew it had to be KT in there.  Great addition to the song.
Isn't it Martha Wainwright singing?
It IS KT singing!  And anything with KT's gorgeous voice is alright by me!

Is there any reputable place to get this without paying crazy import prices?
God I love this tune!

that was much too short
Nice voice.

Reminded me of the soundtrack from Unbreakable, which, by the way, was excellent. That means that this was excellent also.
Man, I need to get this.  I love everything Bill plays off of it.  And it's perfect for a gray, snowy afternoon in Erie...

A fine pairing of two excellent musicians!

distinguished singer, a well elaborated style and until sophisticated to make songs.

Lovely voice, lovely melody. First time I've heard her... looking forward to hearing her again. I am just REALLY loving the mellow set this AM!

7)pour la douceur de sa voix, pour les arrangements (violons)
Very Nice 8
I like the violin that she is holding.
She looks like she wants to kick some butt in the CD cover photo.
the only thing good about this song is the violin.
I don't like everything on this CD, but this song is very beautiful. As is Sophie, by the way. People who like this may want to check out Laughter Through Tears (2004) by Oi Va Voi. At that time, she was as violinist more or less the leader of that band, and KT Tunstall does some singing on that CD too. It's different, more dance-influenced, but it's good music, and there are lots of Balkan- and klezmer-like similarities. But skip Oi Va Voi's self-titled current CD, it's not good at all, probably because Sophie has left.
She's extremely talented
And the lovely K.T. Tunstall on vocals on this track. Oh yes!

Upset? Hardly. I was simply replying to someone who posted that she was "purty," which in high school graduate English is "pretty." However I do appreciate your pledge to fight for my rights to speak out. Thanks, Cripple Cities, there in America!
Not a problem – FYI "purty" or "purdy" is colloquial English. Sometimes I prefer this Americanization to some of the stuff spoken on the grad level. OMG they're so illiterate! Cheers from the home of the factory here in America!
