You're not using a designated driver
to show you around
The folders are a bit too ordered
The sailors seem a bit too bored
Mountain tops seem nice from a distance
Close: rough and not so smooth
So these streets have been walked upon for centuries
I'm sensing owls aren't you?
Aren't you?

Been listening to his new album over the weekend - very nice! Highly suggested.
Not as good as most of the other stuff I've heard from him, but still a solid 7.
Did this guy play for the Seattle Mariners?

By stating that Jose is like Elliot, I simply meant that his music, guitar and voice alone, has created a strong mood. Elliot did that so well, and now Jose is doing it again.

No slam against Elliot. He was great, but hell, he's dead to this world, and Jose is here with us now so let's embrace him. He's good, very good.

That's all.

I agree completely.
I bought Veneer after hearing him here on RP and I have no regrets. Great album and great artist.
{#Headache},,,overdubbing owls nah,,#3.

Jippie yay hooray! Another play of my homie string snapper José from Gothenburg, Sweden on extention link from Radio Paradise
I'm sensing a Great Horned Owl hooting in this song.

"A bit harsh"? That's your idea of remorse? Utterly tasteless is more like it. Time to grow up. meydele wrote:
In re-reading this comment, it seems a bit harsh. Sorry, dude. I still really dislike the guy's music, though.
I Love his style but I'm just about to get tired of his double-voice. Did he ever sing without multi-tracking his voice??
I "Sensed" an owl the other night...and I was right too
Wow! I heard this at a bar during the day on Zanzibar Island back in February and didn't know who it was....what a rush!

Wait . . . do you mean Jose's dead and won't be recording anymore? I could get behind that.

I thought this was Christopher Cross making a comeback for a scary minute there...no, its just some guy who thinks he has Owly-Sense

It's just him, double-tracked, sometimes in unison, sometimes in close harmony. Interesting technique, but he kinda over-uses it imho.

Not nearly as good as the superball one.

I like it. But I can't quite decide if the harmony (or, hell, the two voices in unison, for that matter) is multi-tracked, or if it's two different voices. Anybody know?

His voice is amazingly soft and bearing at the same time. A little more guitar virtuosity maybe?

The "new" Elliot Smith
AUGH!! You demean Elliott. This bites. . .Elliott was/is amazing. Wait . . . do you mean Jose's dead and won't be recording anymore? I could get behind that. The more I hear, the less I like.
Heard this so many times on RP, now just really hearing it.
The "new" Elliot Smith
Bill, you are setting a fabulous soundtrack to a very nice Mexican Chicken Soup I am cooking up! Thanks!
calm.....hmmmmmmmmmm.........yum

Nick Drake and Jonie Mitchell's love child.
Dig it!!!
Sensing Owls? What is this, Twin Peaks?
Wow this guy must have listened to a lot of Danny Okeefe growing up.

That's who he also sings with.
It was a collaboration. He sang with them on one album - The Garden. Otherwise he's not a part of the band as such.
Like this!
His album Veneer is very good, similar to this. "Crosses" is a highlight.

I just saw him at the ACL Festival. Very good accoustic guitar with a mellow feel.
Heard this guy on NPR once. Can't remember if it was something like Fresh Air. They did a nice interview and he played some of his music live. It was very complimentary. I like his stuff.

What a lovely voice; so appealing & smooth.
encantador
Reminds me of the Beta Band. I like it a lot!
This fellow's music is sweet. I think he comes from my hometown; Gothenburg Sweden, or at least lives there now.
Go Argentin-err, Scandinavia!
I've liked everything I've heard so far from José and this tune is no exception. Great stuff!!
thanks NPR
