I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
But there was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions had an echo
In so much space
And when you're out there, without care
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Possibly
And I hope that you are having
The time of your life
But think twice
That's my only advice
Come on now, who do you,
Who do you, who do you, who do you think you are?
Ha ha ha, bless your soul
You really think you're in control?
Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me
My heroes had the heart
To lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember
Is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little
Ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come...
And I can die when I'm done
But maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Probably...

I've never really been into Soul, but this song is absolutely excellent, and makes me want to listen to more songs in the genre.
Man, I hope in the last 11 months you've had a deep dive into soul. You have missed so much.
Its that bass.
The strings must be strung differently or some different material or diameter , or guitar pickup.
You can adjust the treble on the bass EQ and hit the strings with a hard pick (instead of just fingers) to get that percussive tone when the strings are hit. A technique I use on my own mixes (hobbyist songwriter/production).
sooo....my mother shares my Spotify acct, and at least 1x a week i get booted off (while at work)....usually i am wondering "what happened"...then i realize it's playing at her house, and it is always this song....and only this song, this has been happening for about a year now.......she is 72 years old, and i let it happen, it's become a sorta running joke here at work......
this is still true
Crazy.
So, what were you expecting to see? A bunch of napoleon-wannabe's in straightjackets or the rupublican party? :-D
Crazy.

If Ceelo never sung another song, this would prove he could sing.
indeed. i do so love his voice.
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this way of listening to music. This applies to many songs, depending on who is listening, from where, with what perspective... It may not grab you at the beginning, but eventually who knows. This is why I listen to rp.
I very rarely use the skip button. Listen on through and see what different thing you might like.
If I like it a little bit on my first go around it gets a 5... Just so it comes back in my rotation and I hear it again. Today's 5 may be a 7 in a few weeks.
RP is the best!
And now the world’s population is crazy from being fixated on the bloody fake corona pandemic 😷
Fucking idiot.
I have been known to sing it for my (adult) bio daughter. She is not amused.
express your independence

There's a skip button? Who would need that?
My wife is a nurse and has used iPad's so dying patients can FaceTime their families who cannot visit them. She's also lost friends and colleagues who have bravely battled on through the worst times. Nothing fake about it. Keep yourself safe, friend, and don't believe the bull.
Thank you for stating this kindly. I am a nurse and got vaccinated (which I would have preferred to delay until more science/history ruled in) to protect those that don't wear masks, etc. Let's all stop yelling and being outraged. It is so exhausting after the last 4 years. God bless your wife and keep her safe.

Nice.

possibly (~_^)
Always did dig this, even when it was overplayed.

GREAT COMMENT!
My first two days as a music composition and performance student (many, many years ago) went like this ...
Professor: "I will play 50 minutes of music. You will listen without talking or taking notes." We listened to everything from the Beatles to Basie to Beethoven to Gregorian chants to African tribal music to musique concrete.
Made me realize the wide expanse of "music" and taught me a little about things I didn't know.
Then, when he introduced this song he talked like Gnarls Barkley was just this alias he came up with. Can't even spare a smidge of acknowledgement to the partner he made it with? What a knob.

TOTALLY agree.

Agree. Had my interest in the beginning but now he's worn thin.
And I still dance to it when I hear it, and I remember Jennifer with love...
We should keep these gems by Cyanaera alive. I have been surprised that we have no one following in her footsteps. RIP Anne. Really miss your unique and beautiful comments.
We'd be Crazy not to!
For me, this song represents the beginning of the end of my "single" life, great, somewhat fuzzy memories, surprised my house is still standing after some of the rocking parties....equally surprised no cops showed up (the benefits of having 1/2 acre lot...keeps the neighbors from complaining as much) and thankful for the few non-rap tracks that we played over and over like this one. I remember my roommate/homey and I rushed to download this on LimeWire immediately after we first heard it on a friend's myspace page....ahh...those were the years!!

the first time I heard of CeeLo Green was on Trick Daddy's track "In Da Wind"
I just pulled up this song and saw that I had rated it a 2 a while back. Upped it to a 5 today. Kind of catchy, and I don't know why I rated it so low the first time. Still not my favorite song, but it's not bad either.

I think you're crazy.
I'd never heard of this song until one day at work, when our cute little janitor, Jennifer, was trying to describe it but she didn't know the name of the song or who did it, so she sang it in a high-pitched voice with the cutest southern accent (she hailed from Alabama) and did a little dance to it... When it came on the radio, we were all dancing to it.
And I still dance to it when I hear it, and I remember Jennifer with love...

One of the reasons we miss you, Anne.
Made me smile :) So smart.
You can say that again.
You can! Just vote it a 10, and bring everything else down by 1...
Indeed. I'm sure this has been observed countless times here, but "These go to 11..." Talk about crazy!
All you have to do is turn your device of and leave the rest of the world to feel happyor crazy !
So brilliant!
Goot lyrics.
Happy All Hallows Eve
Goot song.
Happpy All Hallows Eve
Hear, hear!!!!
and why would anyone who can think listen to any "clear channel" outlet of any kind? I don't know about you, but I refuse to be droned in violence, bigotry and ignorance manufactured by hacks who's job is dividing U.S. just like bad dope, you can buy a $5 rock of poison on any corner in the country, but the real thing is unobtainable.
if it isn't real how many "takes" is enough? it's why live albums prove a talent.
You can! Just vote it a 10, and bring everything else down by 1...

I like RP radio! Grtz from Groningen, Holland.

It is dreadful. IMO Cee lo should just stick to hip-hop. Goodie Mobb was wonderful.
Well, I assume that Stevie Wonder would sound a lot like Gnarls Barkley. Same vibe that gets you moving, with Stevie lyrics to make a societal point. Got no idea what Diana Ross or Led Zeppelin would sound like. The Beatles' sound, of course, would not change one whit.
Thanks; I'll go now.
are you going to share the story?
Perhaps that applies to you as well?
Tired of hearing this on Clear Channel stations and then hearing it here too? Fine — do what I do and give up Clear Channel stations. I rarely hear this song, and I love it. Even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut, much like the mainstream radio industry found this gem of a song.
If you just plain don't like the song on its own merits, that's fine. Feel free to dislike it. But if your gripe is that you're hearing it too many places, then you need to change your environment. For me, it absolutely belongs in the RP mix, no question.

I agree completely

(Couldn't resist.)
I would have to agree that this song is very worthy of the RP bitstream.
(Couldn't resist.)
from what I've read, Brian Burton is not as corporate as listening to this song might let you think. only because it was a "smash hit", doesn't make it corporate imho.
you might wanna check on the following link. i find the list of the people -he collaborated with / worked for so far- pretty impressive. even some "indie"-veterans amongst them! ;o)

Oh no: hands down winner here...
I guess I am just one of the hoi polloi because I agree.
Somehow I never get tired of it; even had it as my ringtone a couple of years.
(Now my ringtone is Los Lonely Boys- My Way. Wonder why they aren't on RP?)
A bit of spaghetti western soundtrack called "Nel Cimitero Di Tucson".
Cool.
What about all those band names from the 60s?
Strawberry Alarm Clock?
On another note, he gets high ratings for his short arms. Those things are amazing.
I am so sick and tired of people who think that extremely popular songs that get played too much on terrestial radio should be low rated or flat out not played on RP.
This is a freaking great song and definitely needs to be part of the eclectic RP mix.
Maybe I'm craaaaazyyyyyy, but I don't listen to freaking terrestrial radio anymore so the only times I get to hear this are on RP or when it pops up if I'm playing my collection on random.
And I love it when it does.
