I Agree on all counts!  GREAT tune!!  Thanx RP!

I quite liked it, actually.
The mode is an 8, so you're (we're) not alone in that sentiment.

BTW, this is an up-tempo remix of their song Numb from their album Dummy if you're interested in what she sounds like when her voice hasn't been 'pitched up'.

I never ever thought I'd say this about a Portishead song, but the production is awful. PNYC is the BOMB!
Hmmm.. yeah, they fudged with her real voice. She sounds more at home as a japanese secretary than a deeper slow surly burn that this song needs. Still pretty good though.

same here, wish it was gone
It has a new twist to it. Can't keep listening to the same old track over and over again.
The woman's voice sucks.
I find this irritating in so many ways....

Yes, precisely! I loved this song originally, but not digging this version. I hope nobody judges them by this track alone!
I actually can't recall anything I couldn't at the very least tollerate from this group, most of their stuff I love. Eagerally awaiting their new album finally due out next year (fingers crossed). But yeah, this is not their best work.

Not exactly representative this remix - and that is putting it mildly. Give them another chance with an original track.

Not up to their usual standard.

Not digging it. Her voice has been sped up to Smurf pitch.
Thank you for putting your finger on what often bothers me about portishead...her voice is too stylized for my taste.
Interesting....but probably sucko if you don't already know Portishead
trip-hop isn't the same without the scratches. still, might be fun to scratch over this. i'll get some turntables set up and let you know! :P

Aha! So this is Portishead!....hmmm. it sucks. Is he playing that sax with his butt?

. . . except the irritating, superfluous horns, which are equally responsible for the ruination of the song. Oh, and not to forget--the lack of any tune!
i like it.
Luv that freaky, shaky voice thing she does.
I really like how Portishead will take a great song and then do it in various alternative styles, each great, but different. This is at least the third version I have heard of this song.

And Genesis was before that! Yeah, this block has been awesome!
'Airbus Reconstruction' off the same EP was way better, if a bit surprising.

"Whiney" posts? Portishead does a body good. Likeable tune.
Hm, I *think* I preferred the original to be honest. It's lost its appeal for me, not quite sure where or how, but its gone and it aint coming back. Oh well.
G'damn Mr Bill! You are an artist. I know of no other DJ in todays world of soda pop bands who can put together such a fine meal of music.

8O Is she gonna be okay? juuuuuust kidding
Bill is on yet another roll.
I've never heard this remix. I doubt Portishead remixed it. Must be someone else. Might have to hear it a couple of times, but I'm not feeling it.
... and Monk & Canatella is an early 'trip-hop' band (probably from Bristol, UK too)...

Exactly right.

Where does this track come from? It's not on Portishead or Dummy. The live in NYC disc perhaps? Someone please enlighten me.
On the single (Sour Times) mentioned above as album... it's the last 3+ minutes of an 11 minute track, the first 7 minutes is a piano loop...

It seems like the track on Dummy remixed with some jazz horns.
