Tonight I'm tangled in my blanket of clouds
Dreaming aloud

Things just won't do without you, matter of fact
Oh oh ooh
I'm on your back
I'm on your back
Oh oh ooh
I'm on your back

If you'd accept surrender, I'll give up some more
Weren't you adored

I cannot be without you, matter of fact
Oh oh ooh
I'm on your back

If you walk out on me
I'm walking after you
If you walk out on me
I'm walking after you

Another heart is cracked in two
I'm on your back

I cannot be without you, matter of fact
Oh oh ooh
I'm on your back
I'm on your back
Oh oh ooh
I'm on your back

If you walk out on me
I'm walking after you
If you walk out on me
I'm walking after you
If you walk out on me
I'm walking after you

Love it when Dave sings soulfully and peacefully, giving his brain a break from head banging   :)

Here's a wink and warm hug for all the other brave, self-assured introverts out there.

Actually, there are quite a lot of successful introverts in the Rock and Roll world., including the headliners of bands.

I've always loved the chord change in "Monkey Wrench."
they actually can play musci? a nice change for this otherwise awful shredders....
I'm hearing Peter Yorn on this one. Anyone else?

The album version is really WAY better.

I'm on your Beck?
I love this song....
Aural Mogadon, the very definition of Ho-Hum {#Sleep}. Too often hard-rocking bands try to slip a slow, quiet number into their oeuvre, and you can usually tell when it's just a token effort as in this case. Bad Company succeeded but they're a rarity. PSD and away we go...
Kind of stalkery but I can't help it, I love this song!
Reminds me of "Wishing you were here" by Chicago... nice song , like Dave Grohl but not a huge Foo fan, this has a nice tone

Not a big Foo fan, really like Dave's enthusiasim, but this is my favorite that they do, well blended tune ful!{#Dancingbanana}
That’s one small step for (sic) AΩ man, one giant leap for mankind.
What's amazing about this band is that not only do they put out boring, souless, monotonic, formulaic, "thud and drone" songs...they do the same for more melodic songs!!!

This is boring and souless...but on the other end of the spectrum!

And this the one of the few mega "RNR" band out there?
RNR...RIP.
Nice!
I guess Dave Grohl has been a good salesman in the industry. The only thing of his I'm buying of his is that Sound City movie.

It is. I submitted this version years ago and it got declined, then got accepted later, but under the wrong album... this is most defniitely the X-Files version though, not the original album version.
A little Dave Grohl is good for the soul.
Great band. They never really dissapoint and they do soft and loud songs really well!

All bands that sell records don't automatically suck and/or don't fit RP.

It's not at all unreasonable to believe RP listeners appreciate well done pop/rock and that this is an example of good pop songcraft.

I saw them on ACL last night.  They spent about half the show doing what looked like "we're gonna show you guys that we're not commercial" songs.  Wasn't so convincing.  Concert was okay.  Lotta foo, though.  Which is what they're supposed to be fighting.

Hey, leave The Offspring out of this, you. They write some of the funniest lyrics anywhere. "L.A.P.D" is great, for instance. I have fond memories of that band. Love DG and FF too.

This is the X Files soundtrack version, yes. One of the songs I uploaded and got 'sorry' before someone else got credit when it did get added :( I vastly prefer this version over the original. And I think I posted way back when on this one that the album technically is wrong above...

Yeah! But the aforementioned album version, without the lame marching drums, is sparser and therefore even better.

One of the best from one of our best songwriters. Dave Grohl moves between dethmetal (Probot) to beautiful melodies effortlessly. "Walking After You" is a TEN for me.
Even though dave seems to be impressed with himself; I'm not that impressed. I've always considered the songwriting to be weak. Outstanding drummer, though.

I frankly find this song incredibly encouraging as well as beautiful. I think its about working to make a relationship work and not letting your partner give up just because things aren't always easy.

Foo Fighters = Good stuff! (Not so keen on their latest offering, but so what... that's me). I can't believe someone dis'd the Offspring! Listen to those wonderful double entendre lyrics as they wail away... Granted they're not to everyone's taste, but if you're ever working out hard, or you're really hating someone -- they need to be in your headset. And yes, that is very juvenile, which is the whole appeal of the Offspring. Now get out of the way you little prude
COME GET ME, DAVE!!!!!
certainly99 wrote:

f that dude ... dave grohl is one of the most underappreciated rockers of the 90's ... period ... because he doesn't do weird shit to get the population's attention like eating live animals on stage or going to the woods for 3 weeks on an acid trip eating bark and leaves while changing his name to susan vanderbees and getting involved with a transvestite/heroin addict ... none of that bull shit ... he just rocks and enjoys it ... he went from drumming for the most influential bands of the decade to leading another quite successful band ... overrated? ... no ... remember when he and taylor hawkins did that anti smoking commercial while smoking? ... classic.
didnt expect to see foo fighters when i looked at the artist. im not a big fan, but this song has a really good melody
I would've never guessed it was FF, i'm not sure yet on if I like the song.
Lovely
I agree with what you write and has made a note not to rate songs before the first cup is empty.certainly99 wrote:
Interesting. I didn't realize The Offspring were rated all that highly. I don't think 'most over rated band ever' needs to be dignified with a response, but since I'm already here... I don't think there's an overwhelming love of the Foo Fighters among critics. Maybe I'm just not reading enough music magazines. If you're talking about the everyday fan, then that just doesn't make any sense. People like it. You don't see why. That doesn't make them overrated, it means you're missing it. I, for instance, I'm missing it regarding Pink Floyd. That doesn't mean Pink Floyd is overrated - it means I'm overlooking what makes them great.

"I'm on your back?" That doesn't sound very romantic...rrather uncomfortable, in fact.
Brings me back to time when the Foo Fighters were my favorite band, and the video for this song had a woman who was seperated from Dave Grohl by a plexiglass window. Not the best video ever, but that lady was gorgeous. I think I was 15 or 16 back then, and I think it's a safe bet that the Foo's won't release an album that compares with this one, or even Dave's solo first album.
Great album and equally great album cover design.
This is a flawless album

that's because it's a lot harder to write happy songs. think about the top rock songs/bands of all time...not a lot of happy go luckys in that group. ok, the beatles were pretty damn good at it, but the even the beatles had john to offset paul's smarmyness.

In their defense (if they need one), you can't blame the Foo for the great number of 'beautiful depressing' songs, especially on RP, where they are (in my opinion) sorely under-represented. I think you're right, though: there's a limit to how much of that type of music (as any type - everything in moderation!) you can listen to. When it has to be depressing, though, I prefer mine beautiful- rather than ugly- depressing. Oh, yes, and I must say that this is one of my favorite songs ever. But I'm young yet, and I think we are the most vulnerable to beautiful depressing.
Oh yeah...
