She eyes me like a Pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks
I've been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black

Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice

Meat-eating orchids forgive no one just yet
Cut myself on angel hair and baby's breath
Broken hymen of your highness, I'm left black
Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back

Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice

My favorite Nirvana song. Kind of a disturbing music video.
Can't stand Nirvana, like finger nails on chalkboard.
I remember when this record came out, it kinda scared me a little... I loved that it was so delightfully heavy, as had been the others, but...this one seemed a lot darker somehow. I was worried about Kurt; he seemed to be going off the rails; even beyond, maybe, and... -- Damn!

interesting thought. i would like to know, too.
i wasn't a HUGE fan of nirvana, but this one always got me.

Vocals and subject matter = why Cobain was so revered.

It wasn't like there weren't hundreds of other bands in that scene, because... well, there was.

Many were doing exceptionally _similar_ sounds - in a way, it was a punk rock movement in terms of garage bands "having a go" in the awful MTV era of "big hair rock"

Something came together with Nirvana - and it wasn't _just_ Cobain, it was also Grohl - not immediately obvious that a drummer was a catalyst, but he was - we saw after the demise of Nirvana just how important Grohl was in Nirvana.

The others? - Not so much - competent, but not driven in the same way.

So much excellence came out of that era - that was possibly a reaction to the terrible over-commercialisation of rock music at the time.

All of the bands of that era were schooled on 70's rock, on Americana, heck - folk rock.

Nirvana certainly weren't the best example of that genre, Pearl Jam for instance, were far better in many ways.

We'll never know what direction Cobain would've gone in, but it's fairly obvious that Nirvana would just have been a starting point.
intensely dislike this nirvana recording

Unique riffs. Kurt was from another world.

one of the few I like is this heart shaped box... never overstimated this group, though. I've heard about them only because of the D Bowie cover and the suicide of the singer. but I have no prejudice about music. I found some to be crap even in D B
Always thought this was Nirvana's best song, lyrically speaking.
Better than Teen Spirit imo

I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black

dark. very dark.
WE NEED MOAR NIRVANA

This album pulled no punches.

Only took 16 years, but all your wildest dreams have come true.
What is it about tunes like this that makes me smile?

Love this. I saw Nirvana on several occasions; big venues, small venues, once in a small club - blew out the fucking doors. every. single. time.
