Yea, verily I say unto you that this immortal phenomenon briefly incarnated in part as the one and only Jimi Hendrix lives, for he comes alive, and thrashes the life out of my speakers, infuses my freaking plants, rattles the walls and windows with otherworldly vibrations, and makes me wriggle and writhe in sonic ecstasy every time RP puts him on!  Not necessarily STONED, but, uhh...BEAUTIFUL...

3.  Jimi was American, home of the hyper-est-marketing record industry in the world.  There was money to made from a black psychedelic rock-and-roll guitar player, especially after he died from drugs.  Google his music rights and you'll see what I mean.

4.  Trower's catalog doesn't include as wide a variety as Hendrix's. 

(Trower still isn't dead, as of February 5, 2011, when I saw him on stage, although he's got to be pushing 65.)

I don't think our resident physicsgenius understands the contributions in sound experimentation that Jimi made. This guy did things way ahead of the curve, and although this isn't one of his best efforts, tunes like Angel, Little Wing, As the Tide Gently Turns, EZ Rider and more each offered a new sound for the time. Sounds like phasing, enveloping, wah and distortion were pioneered, in part, by Hendrix. Some combinations of those sounds, even today, amaze recording engineers given the limited sophistication of late 60's electronics.
