This is just fantastic music from fall 1982.
 
It's been played a lot but thankfully I don't really think the 80s throwback stations wrecked it like they did a lot of other music from that era.

The original version of this song  was more political, with the lines:

And:

I love the way they play with the gloomy atmosphere, effortlessly and how they sometimes seem to rise above it. The voice sounds like one of the instruments, which also adds to the dramatic, theatrical effect. British bands are often good at that.

Saw these guys open for Elvis Costello and the Attractions in Atlanta, think it was in the Omni, Waaayyy back in the day. Think it was on the Imperial Bedroom Tour. Remember that we had to park something like a mile from the venue and walk through a driving rain. Got there just in time to see Talk Talk play this. Ah, the memories..... Great song too. Interesting aside, name of the band is "Talk Talk," name of the Album is "Talk Talk," and name of the song is "Talk Talk." Not sure how many times that has ever happened.
