Through the iron winter to the fires of June
Through the five o'clock skyline to the deeadlocked moon
There's a flickering figure dancing alone
Making her junk creatures out of rags and bones
Where the vapour is rising between the seedling and the vine
And though the shadow's in waiting are wasting their time
'cause my veins are tracking street maps and the compass and the stones
And I'm still making my junk creatures out of rags and bones
Oh yeah, the hammer and the nail
Oh yeah, the heart's in the small change
Oh yeah, and the Devil's in the detail
Ans in my rags and bones
Now it's the fist through the window, it's the wine that you brought
It's a far cry from the shackles of cognitive thought
It's the lines on the fridge door, just see how they've grown
Up from little junk creatures made from rags and bones
Oh yeah, the hammer and the nail
Oh yeah, the heart's in the small change
Oh yeah, and the Devil's in the detail
And in the rags and bones
And now the candle's flickered out, the walls have been built
And they are racking up the weapons of blood and piss and guilt
Voices have been silenced, but they belong to anyone
And these little junk creatures made from rags and bones
And these little junk creatures made from rags and bones
Rags and bones

Why have I never heard of her before? Discovering good music like this is the main reason I listen to Radio Paradise!
This IS Terrific!
This is terrific! First time I've heard this and hooked immediately. Great find!

Another RP discovery
Regrettably she's not had much commercial success
Check out Murphy's Heart

Why bet? Just look at pic!!! In person, I'm sure, would be eye candy, for sure!! At 40 , she still appears to be a twenty something!! Very good tune...would love to hear more/other tracks!!I rated this a "9" years ago. I still feel the same today.

oh yeah, this is awesome..
Compelling song. Although I was disappointed to not see the name/word "Orianne" in the lyrics. Such a powerful name. Could have sworn that's what she was singing. Again, never read the lyrics.
Check out her "Dance in New York." A lovely song.
Thanks for keeping this in rotation. A real gem.
what ever happened to tazmin archer?

Well, the signature of the architect of the system (a.k.a. creator) is revealed in the details of said system (a.k.a. creation). At this point, the discussion becomes highly religious, and some would say philosophical. Anyways, I like the track very much!

Really really good! Awesome find on RP!
I'm so glad I listen to RP every day, for new discoveries like this. Gilmore has a rich voice that completely draws me in. Bill, you're gonna make me spend more money!
I like this a lot! First time hearing it.
This is quite a painful vocal performance.
It sounds like she's saying 'Little Jean Chretiens made of rags and bones' I can think of some Canadians who would like to have a Stephen Harper voodoo doll. Not sure about a Jean Chretien voodoo doll though...
Fabulous songwriter

A wonderful album, with excellent songwriting from beginning to end.
you know, this sounds so much like unni wilhemsen (or however you spell her norwegian -> english transliterated name)

Verry interesting. I want to hear more.
Interesting percussion, lyrics too.
This sorta sucks.
I like this. The minor chord thing gets into an edgy groove.
Cowboy Junkies vibe.

Mmmmm... ok, I guess. Nothing special, doesn't do anything for me. :|

I do that, my wish list is daunting now, and definetly would break the bank if I were to actually order every album from good artists I hear on RP...slowly I'm working through it and Thea Gilmore's one of the better ones I've invested in
My problem is the amount of stuff on my list that is out of stock :|
Blasted Amazon.co.uk; their attitude seems to be if it isn't main stream rubish or 'cult' we wont stock it. I'm thinking of making one of them Amazon lists and calling it "CDs that look great, but we'll never know if we only shop here".
BTW, I bought the album and it's mostly good tracks, so money well spent IMHO.

This is not a particularly good song.

bought the album because of this tune and "Pirate Moon" also played on RP..
Quite a disappointment. This is certainly the best tune on the album and the rest are striving to match - if not blatantly imitating - it. The songs arent out right BAD, but none have the potential that this one possesses.
Same here - bought for Pirate Moon, which is a great song, but only found one or two other good ones on the CD....

saw Thea live at Islington Academy last month, a truly fantastic concert in a cracking intimate venue
she also has a vast back catalogue for someone of her tender years which I've just begun to investigate

I like this song more, the more I hear it.
Not bad, but not great either.
