Same thing again.  Not sure about this “mix”. Same months or years later?

its not a guitar - its a mohan veena

Star Fleet discovers the blues.....

The dobro on this tune is great IMHO.
And I just played the Amboy Dukes version on vinyl about an hour ago.

I don't know how you've missed it, but RP plays a LOT of blues!  ...Keep listening!

Tis the low E string and its meant to be tuned a bit low to give the blues bite actually.

I'm compelled to post a photo just to push down that stupid Star Wars gify. And I love Star Wars, it's just not appropriate at all for Harry nor the blues in general. Mr. Manx is most excellent, rare in his age group for sure.

LOL! Pretty sure that's a Star Trek gif!
I heard this little piece of a musical marvel for the first time here, on Radio Paradise. It is by far the most hypnotizing tune I've heard for quite some time and the only one here (at least for now) I rated "Outstanding".

The Blues and Mr. Manx have a future, even in Star Trek, as seems obvious.

Removes all the grit from this song, and yet it sounds great.  Blues works however you do it.

Haha, Cherlene

The best version?  Quite possibly.
The exceptional still exists.

Mr. Manx himself, using one of those Dylan-style harp holders.
Isn't this just "Bring That Thing Back Home" with different lyrics? Or is it the other way around?

True, and apparently Rye (whiskey) didn't get invited to the party?
Tasty tune, btw.

Really?  Almost too real for Archer.  Doesn't most of their music have to be somewhat shallow and self-absorbed?   Not a diss; I love Archer.

This is simply outstanding...there must be a Manx song I don't like but I haven"t heard it yet...

I've had the good fortune to see this man on a couple of continents and he has the ability to slightly change the song every performance without altering its essence.
He is indeed a serious musician.

This album is phenomenal.  A desert island entree for sure, and that's all thanks to RP.
Groovin while drivin in slow traffic...perfect

It's OK.  Not nearly as good as other versions I've heard.
I'll be dog.  What an interesting take on the old classic.

Good Evening, Bill.   umm, what he said. Specifically the 3 sided album "Second Winter" that he did with Edgar. The coolest track is  'Hustled Down in Texas' on side three (sandwiched in between 'I Love Everybody' and 'I Hate Everybody').

It takes a brave individual to admit to having owned such a thing

Yes, please. Johnny's DNA is in every Texas Blues artist's work.

I think this has to be listened to in context. So many (blues) artists don't play by setlists, they just play whatever they feel like. So when you're attending a concert it's always pretty cool when an artist comes up with a cover of a cool song, it's always surprising.

For radio purposes, i agree these covers aren't always suitable...
Though i really like Harry's take on this one...

Sorry, don't think this version adds much to previous efforts. As much as he gets reviled on RP by posters, how about Van Morrison's version? Also, Muddy Waters does a pretty good little version hisself!

Agree, VM created a timeless effort of this song.

Different—- Versions that I am familiar with are usually a driving boogie!

I personally like Harry's second CD "Wise & Otherwise"   What he does with the blues is unique to say the least. He alone has brought Indian music together with the blues. No small feat and not to take anything away, but to contribute. To breath new life into it, I personally love it. High marks to this guy for originality. I'm a recording engineer, I dig the hell out of his playing.
I like this...Does anyone have a recommendation for which album to buy?

I'd never heard of Harry Manx before listening to RP. This guy is cool. I will definitely check out his CDs.
So much for the urgency the lyrics suggest. Must be the qualude version...
I could use this song sometime
