Lost the words it ain't my way, yeah
Takes away my breath
What takes me twenty-five years to say
Baby you're my favorite rolling stone
Elvis left the building, I have never been so alone

Come on and show me how it feels
Come on and show me how it feels
Can we make it last, can we make it real, yeah
Come on and show me how it feels

It's only me in this flimsy dress, yeah
I could spread this love from the east to the west
The bed is made the world's a mess
Maybe we've got it backwards
Maybe we should just care less

Come on and show me how it feels
Come on and show me how it feels
Can we make it last, can we make it real, yeah
Come on and show me how it feels, yeah, yeah, yeah

I close my eyes I see your face
Every inch of your skin I begin to retrace
Let me be the voice inside your head
Listen to me whisper
We can sleep when we're dead

Come on and show me how it feels
Come on and show me how it feels
Can we make it last, can we make it real, yeah, yeah, yeah
Come on and show me how it feels, yeah

this isn't their best, there's much more that is better - but OMG they put on such a great show live. and Karin can outsing Sheryl any day. SO much less nasally and less whiney than Sheryl. thank goodness.

Sheryl Crow? Are you people crazy? The difference between this singer and Sheryl Crow is that this person can SING. Do this test: listen to "Leaving Las Vegas" once all the way through, taking careful notice of the singing voice. That is one of the worst vocal performances ever to be passed on to the public. It's awful. Who ok'd that? Really. Do the test, you may not have noticed before, but you'll see.

OK, did it and you're right: it sucks, at least the vocals are bad (and not in the good sense). Please don't challenge us to do that again!
As soon as she begins to sing, I know it's Over the Rhine...love this band

Agree. She's no Margo TimmIns but she's no Sheryl Crow either. Whew.

Great band. At the grave risk of having to move the family into smaller quarters, I need to invest in their work. Oh, we wouldn't move into a smaller place. Quite the contrary, we'd move into a larger place to accommodate my music collection. The family has to make do with whatever's left over. Hey, sometimes life throws you a curve.

I'd like to hear more from this group on RP. (Maybe that because I'm from Over the Rhine.)
Along with many others, I thought this was Sheryl Crow.
OTR always makes me smile. Got to see them again in early July at Lifest in Oshkosh, WI. It was a really scaled back set with just a drummer. I think it was the same guy on this album, Ohio.
RP's playing of this song led me to buying this album, and finally seeing OTR in concert not that long ago. This particular track is better on the album, but almost every other song was superb in concert. My best concert value in ages.

This is exactly the kind of nasty stuff that I expect RP to avoid - Yucky.
How about I tell "you how I feel" about this song - like crap! Whiney! Boo Hoo.

Ewwwww......... you're right! Barf-0-rama... :headshake: "ooooooh---lalala" AAARGH
POP!
When is RP going to start playing Over the Rhine's new album Drunkard's Pray?
You listen to far too much Cher
I don't know if I could name a Cher song other than Believe, Turn Back Time and I Got You Babe, but I think those three songs in themsleves might well qualify as "too much Cher" So I think he's got me. THis is my first day here. I can't express how impressed I am with the website this station and the concept in general. Just excellent.

I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason for your hypocrisy.

It looks to me like you should leave your "rich, snobby" Proctoid blighted cluster F suburb of Blue Ash, Indian Hill, Mason, or wherever you reside because you are unhappy. I live in Downtown Cincinnati and enjoy being surrounded by many friends from all walks of life. I make the best of what (little) Cincinnati has to offer and I'm happy. Hey, we could be trapped in Rapid City, South Dakota.....now that would suck...... :? 8) I'm going on vacation to South Africa March 8th, give me your address, I'll send ya a post card.

Well if you want to compare the Queen City to other countries around the world--particularly third-world countries--you have a point. And I'm glad you get to travel. Most of the locals I have met have never left the tri-state area, so have no point of reference. I actually have visited many countries and have spent time in all 50 States. Yes, there is worse. There also is so much better. I left the melting pot of DC suburbia to come here. I live in the "rich, snobby" side of Porkopolis. Liberal media? In Ohio? Bwahhhhhh. Dude, you and all the other ultra-conservative rednecks in this midwestern hellhole have got to be kidding me when you pull the "liberal media" card in Cincy of all places. Leave this glorified trailer park and visit the real world on either coast. See people of different races actually living TOGETHER peacefully in the SAME neighborhood. There's more segregation here than in most of Alabama or Mississippi. Hey, but at least with all the gay bashing we can ignore the minority bashing for awhile, huh? And, also, your chili is not chili...it is spaghetti with some type of meat sauce the consistency of...um Montezuma's revenge. Montgomery ribs are almost as overrated as Graeters. But hey, you have Pete Rose as your hometown hero, so can't be all bad. /waiting for a transfer anywhere else //hoping I can be as lucky as Corey Dillon ///Should have kept the more fitting "Porkopolis" as name

Over The Rhine refers to Central Parkway (East/West thoroughfare through downtown here). It used to be a man-made canal many moons ago when Cincinnati was known as "Porkopolis", thus Over The Rhine, not referencing The Ohio River. The only "questionable shootings by the police" is why they didn't shoot the thugs any sooner. Don't believe everything you hear from the liberal media please.

I would add Kathleen Edwards as a possible sound alike as well, but that's just because she also sounds like Lucinda Williams.
I think there should be more songs that play the same 4 chords for 4 minutes in a row. We don't want to confuse the musicians too much. Blah. This is music with a lowercase m.
I listened to, and saw, Over the Rhine a lot when I lived in Cincy, and I NEVER would have guessed this was her singing. Different sound...not bad.
I thought it was Sheryl Crow until I looked at the info...

They're from Cincinnati, OH. The band's name comes from an area of downtown Cincinnati, called "Over the Rhine"; it was home to many of the city's German immigrants years ago, and is close to the Ohio river--hence, the reference to the Rhine. That particular area is in, shall we say, disrepair and is a bit of a high crime area, plus has been the recent location for some questionable shootings by the police. Probably more than you wanted to know; --d

Amen. Ohio has become one of my favorite albums. Not a bad song on it. Actually, I've got a couple of OTR albums, and haven't heard anything I don't like on any of them.

I've got to agree. I haven't heard any song by them that I like yet, and her voice always seems to be straining.

Was actually in Over The Rhine recently. Lovely neighborhood. :headshake: Barrel House in O-T-R is a nice brewery though.

Pleasant enough, but as Simon Cowell would say....."So what?"

Okay, that said, message for Bill: Can you please play a few different tunes from this album? Or another album? In fact here's a crazy idea -- take a random 10% of the songs in current rotation, and pick -another- song from the same album. It's my only, small complaint as I continue to regularly listen to RP ... the exploration I would like to hear of an album is not there. Does RP suffer from the same restrictions on the number of songs of an artist that can be played per hour per album, etc.? Even if so, I still think we could have some more alternatives to songs in rotation. thx - q

Okay, so it sounds like Cher, and Sheryl Crow, and Lucinda Williams, but this is the second time I've clicked here and *almost* clicked right though to buying the album. If Bill'd play ANOTHER track from this album, I'd likely click on thru even though I am overbudget on new CDs right now.... A solid "8" for me!
Sounds like Sheryl Crow...
Awesome track, but I agree with the previous comments.
mmmm .... definitely liking Over the Rhine more with the passing of time ... the affinity was there from the beginning, and it's nice to find there is some depth, too. Some things are tasty on the outside and the inside. Okay, that said, message for Bill: Can you please play a few different tunes from this album? Or another album? sounds like Sheryl Crow's "You Don't Bring Me Anything But Down"....I thought that's what it was for 30 seconds or so.

DUde, I was LIKING the song....now I have to give great pause...
Cincinatti, OH is where all my mom's family (both her mom's and dad's side) is from. Instant 10.
Saw them live a few times when I lived in Cinti when they were first starting out--glad to see that they've stuck it out and garnered a devoted following. This one goes on my wish list....

very, very nice a thoughtful baying at the moon kinda moment well conjured <-o< <-o<
I heard them for the first time on NPR a month or so ago. Picked up the CD in a flash ( through RPs link Bill ) Outstanding talent. There are a few cuts that remind me so much of Lucinda Williams. I can't wait to see them live.

being from cincinnati, i just have to add props for one of our local bands. :) a little over the rhine trivia: the band is named for a neighborhood of downtown cincy. cincy traditionally has a very large german population.
Sounds very generic!
We have followed OtR for many years, and they just keep getting better(very personable in concert, too). Good beginner's LP would be Good Dog, Bad Dog. btw, they opened for Cowboy Junkies on a recent tour (they appear in the Junkies' tour DVD). Take a look at the current article in the local Cincy arts rag at https://citybeat.com/current/index.shtml.
nice song, sounds upbeat......nice voice, too kinda sounds familiar, but i can't quite place it need to hear more
