I caught their gig here at The Anthem in DC on Sept. 18th. Steven and crew always deliver 100% and this tour was no different. Each band member is a perfectionist in their own right and the sum was certainly greater than its parts. Gavin rules!
If I get that mental image of the reels turning on the tape machine I know it's a great tune.

Most of the adult population of the Western World should be somewhat familiar with Marshall Applewhite and his ill-fated cult, so I don't know if too many people would be confused or inspired by the message - I tend to ignore any message as soon as I hear the grammatically-incorrect phrase "from whence we came".

I guess I'm simply used to hearing spoken words in songs since I listen to a fair amount of electronic music. Some is used to good effect, some bad, some neutral. To my ear this falls in the category of the later.

Thanks for introducing me to PT. Ive spent a months salary buying all the albums and I must say, Its nice to hear a band carrying on in the style of those 70s pioneers such as Yes, Rush, Floyd, LedZep etc etc. I know its a time gone by but i think they have just a little of that spirit and mixed it witth some spirit from today. its certainly not Cowellesq now, is it?

OK, I don't mind 'collage art'. This works stupendously well for me. The prose is compelling.There is always a whimsical distance. The instrumental bits are lovely.

I saw Porcupine Tree do this live at NEARfest several years ago. Bizarre, fantastic (as in "of fantasy") and likable. The whole Heaven's Gate riff... Weird.

Interesting... I've seen that nearly all PT tracks get high rating and most of the played tracks comes from the latest releases. Still I belive that PT and mr Wilsons music from around the time of Lightbulb Sun is their best - and guess what... it gets a lower rating

I somewhat agree with you. I really like the earlier stuff, and most of the newer (last 3 CDs), but some of the real heavy stuff
I dislike. The more Floyd-like stuff is my fave, I guess.

Interesting... I've seen that nearly all PT tracks get high rating and most of the played tracks comes from the latest releases. Still I belive that PT and mr Wilsons music from around the time of Lightbulb Sun is their best - and guess what... it gets a lower rating

Who would ever guess that a banjo would rock?!!! The intro is so incredibly strong, one would have to think, "hey thats a banjo". Another great one from the omnipresents.
I wish he would play this one again period! But, then again, without the background info I guess most listeners would freak out and hate it anyway. He would probably have to squeeze it into a set with some other oddish type songs to slide it by.
I agree on the segue from Shesmovedon into this song being absolutely divine. I wish Bill would play them together one day
