The village idiot takes the throne
His the wind in which all must sway
All sane people, die now
Be lifted up and carried away
Youve got no home in this world of sorrows'

Theres a parasite feeding on
Everybodys bag of rage
What goes out returns again
To smite the mouth and burn the page
Under the rain of all our dark tomorrows

I can see in the dark its where I used to live
I see excess and the gaping need
Follow the money see where it leads
Its to shrunken men stuffed up with greed
They meet and make plans in strange half-lit tableaux

Under the rain of all our dark tomorrows

Youve got no home in this world of sorrows

"Follow the money, see where it leads," was the same advice given by my PhD advisor when I worked on my dissertation. I've found using this lens to be remarkably useful in explaining observed behavior.
Couple of nice African frog calls in the b/g.
Great music, not much else to say
...meanwhile, it's back to the music....

LOL Fox News.  Is that still a thing?

Yes, unfortunately those clowns are still on the air.
It's like an SNL parody but in theory it's a "real" show.  Sadly, there are actually people out there that believe their laughable lies.

LOL Fox News.  Is that still a thing?  I guess in the mind of the left...

Ha!  Putin is a KGB bastard. Wasn't a "Never Trumper" but more of a "No, Please. Not Trump" because A: he was chummy with the Clintons for years, and B: didn't trust him to be what he said was going to be, but when it came down to him or Hillary, the obvious was "Never let her near the office again!" economic policies as bad as Biden but more Evil. Was happy to be proven wrong by him often enough, and when he did something cringe worthy, I'd watch the response from the enemies and think "You know what? Go right ahead."
Saddest thing about Biden is that he has a history of being a lying, plagiarizing s#!t stain, and when not lying, is often as wrong as one can be (the quotes "Never underestimate Joe's ability to F@#k things up" and [paraphrased] "If you want to know what the best foreign policy stance is, just take the opposite of whatever Joe says." comes from his own party) so is it senility and/or someone else using him for a front, or him just being himself as only he can be?
A rather non-political fellow I knew lived in Maryland and Deleware for many years and met the Sen. Joe a few times. "He's not very smart." was his impression.
Hopefully we get Desantis in 2024, though if he get the nomination, I will vote Trump happily, to end this abomination of an administration.

Holy.  Ya know...if you can't spell the actual states in your own country, it says quite a lot, doesn't it?

See, that's the down side of democracy.  Every idiot gets a vote, and it counts exactly the same as someone that actually has the time and energy to learn how systems work and why policies are enacted.

Ultimately, universal suffrage is a failed experiment...and buddy here is a great example of why that is.

How's that Biden working out for you?
inflation/stagflation, shortages, pissed off the allies more than Trump, and has our enemies laughing and now decides the Constitution is meaningless.
but hey, no mean tweets

ghoti is pronounced fish - gh as in cough, o as in women and ti as in nation...

also Featherstonehaugh (fanshawe). Try http://holyjoe.org/poetry/anonA.htm

Listening to those lyrics brought out some memories in me that will never be forgotten. I think at that time I was the village idiot. I felt like I owned the world once I made it past high school. This world has a way of humbling everyone. At least with time I have come to appreciate good music. To enjoy such music, especially ones that are full of highs and lows, you need one of the best speakers. The good thing is that currently we have exceptional Bluetooth speakers. I read the reviews and was able to get a speaker where I can enjoy music on  the beach or by the pool as me and my family are relaxing. Love the frogs in the background - can hear at least two African species Kassina senegalensis and Phrynomerus bifasciatus.

The lyrics are every bit as relevant today as they ever were.  Scary world.
I like it.
Dunno if there is Bruce Cockburn`s song that I don`t like

Agreed. Fantastic!

He's an amazing guitarist. And poet.

Bruce Cockburn has always, since my first hearing, been ... well ... completely boring.
A yawnfest on Quaaludes.
PSD even after giving BC another try ... I just can't do it, man ... I can't.
It's just too thp-p-p-p-p-p-p
In my opinion everything Bruce Cockburn ever done was done already before him and was done better by someone else. Sorry. 3.

I am so blessed to have truly understood the beauty of Cockburn's music upon first hearing it. I was 19 and was spending the summer in Camden Maine and the girl I was spending time with played Cockburn for me. I had never heard music like that and I was an instant fan. After really getting to know Cockburn through his music I found that we have many other similarities. He's like a friend I have yet to meet.

Thanks to the PSD feature I got to this page and love this !
What a beautiful story. And what a nice feeling, a friend yet too meet.

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? Is your use of vulgarity a reflection on your upbriging or just your lack of education?
Way to much rotation on that one RP !!
I thought I heard Emmylou's voice in there seems Jackson Browne and her did backing vocals on the album
Neither Bruce\'s best nor his worst...somewhere in-between.

I feel the same way. I like hearing this now and then in Paradise. (This is part of a really great set of programming wonderfully thought out. Bravo RP )
Gosh, I really like Bruce Cockburn\'s work and own a number of his CD\'s, he\'s a wonderful musician, plays a great guitar and is a haunting songwriter but sometimes I wish he\'d lighten up a bit. Prehaps he needs some looser fitting pants, he sounds so uncomfortable!
Not a great song, but certainly doesn\'t suck!
this song wears me out

Sorry, I can't help you. To me, this is quintessential mediocrity. I really don't see what the attraction is with this guy. Makes me wonder if I fell from another planet with different musical sensibilities, but I'm comforted that I'm not the only one.
I'm suprised how low this is rated at RP. Seems perfect for the station. It must be good because I've heard it a lot here and I still like it.
Exquisite voice? Please. I can't stand his droning, ennui-laden affectations.
NB: Using "ennui-laden" in a review should not be considered affectation.

To each their own. :)
Nice cut..Not marginal at all. Standout.
There's a LOT of nice Bruce Cockburn music out there. No need to play THIS marginal tune.

It\'s so great to hear an artist with such consistency. It\'s been years since this guys has done something bad
Hey, I like this song. I\'ve never really listened to this singer before. Reminded me of Beck at first (no offense meant to long-time Cockburn fans out there.)
