So am I
Good or bad
The way that things did turn out
I did only make you sad

And we cried and we cried
On the phone
Oh but in my mind
You were never that all alone

Oh you were majesty
Your roads were heavy
And your longing was cut from bone

So am I
Am I good or bad
Could only awake your anger
I could only make you mad
Now was that how you showed me
That you were still so young and bold
Anyway those fights did drive me
And I was dying of thirst and I wasn't growin' old

Oh you were majesty
Your ropes were heavy
And your roads were very cold
Oh, oh, oh majesty

But in my mind
I could still climb inside your bed
And I could be victorious
Still the only man to pass to the glorious arch of your head, o-oh

Oh you were majesty
Your ropes were heavy
And your cheeks were very red

Oh you were majesty
And it's like I said
That spirit, is now dead

Oh, oh, oh Majesty

This would probably be an 8 for me if the “Live at Tralfamadore” version didn’t exist. As it is, it’s a 7. The live version is an easy 10, and is so much more emotional. That said, Høyem‘s voice almost always stops me in my tracks.
Love this song but I herad the live version before the studio version and belive me it is even better.

yes, i'd love to hear him sing this right into my ear very softly.
Exactly how I like my women - So young and bald...
I have seen
majesty,
tasted
heaven,
and fell back to earth.
Onwards...
Have to be followed by D.A.D., another great scandinavian rockband! Wakes you up, after dreaming from life (vs.).

Not exactly. see my next comment.

Actually it's a little more complicated and spooky than that!  'Madrugada' is the time between late night and early morning, just before dawn.  (Dawn is  more commonly translated as 'alba' or 'amanecer').   One of the best band names ever !

Thank You for the info!

I agree, every live version is better, but especially the one from 2005 Oslo Spektrum.
Amazing song, amazing voice. Play the live version
He says "majesty" 7 times .

Thanks sir,
just listened to it and it went instantly to my favorites
First time with this song gave it an 8
I always hear "Now was that how you showed me
That you were still so young and bald". It's a curse!

10/10! Every freaking time! EFT
There is something about this song, that pulls you in. Mood maybe. Total 8 for me.
I love this song, but the live version is so much more passionate. I could listen to it all day.
Live version of this song is amazing! Take it for a ride...you will be a happy camper
Interesting sound!
Fabulous set this morning.

When I live bad things in here, just be gentle and lady to myself is a personality. I prefer just drink water and eat bread instead of eating truth.
The band is back together and I see a bunch of shows in Europe are sold out.

When is the band coming to North America?

And who is replacing lead guitarist Robert Burås?
Masterpiece! One of the most beautiful voice in rock music!
Thanks for info about 2019 dates. Almost missed it. Got my ticket now.
Sure a masterpiece! We will see Madrugada in February in Paradiso Amsterdam. Can't wait.
A masterpiece. Though the live version is even more masterpiece-ful!

Wife and I are flying from CA to Norway to see the Madrugada show in February 2019...one of our all time favorite bands, thanks to Bill & Rebecca!
Great song to start the day :-) I like the live version better though, perhaps because I heard it first? {#Ask}
Such a beautiful song!  And what an amazing voice
What a voice.  Made me stop working and listen.  Has to be a 9.
Increasing to  9 - O U T S T A N D I N G

I just bumped my rating to a 10.  And had this song come out a year earlier, and I had known about it, well, it totally matches the feelings I had for a certain female "friend" in mid-2001, the friend that I should have forgotten about by now and damn it I don't think I ever will.  Arrrgggg

Long Live RP!!

For me this is 8 - Most Excellent  TY Madrugada  and RP

Not quite correct, "Madrugada" is the time between midnight and the dawn, dawn is called "Amanecer". During the Madrugada a lot of interesting and mysterious things could happen.
Dark and brooding. In other words, just perfect.
Madrugada means dawn in Spanish...
Gotta admit, the live version is more powerful. Most bands would be envious of this...
I'd love to have this guys voice when I do Karaoke.  {#Whistle}
Good,  two points and three lines met
Bad,  it only makes you sad
Yup, like this and love the live.
an outstanding transmission of sound

WONDERFUL - LIVE VERSION EVEN BETTER!!
The sus2 (I think?) chord really makes the song for me
I bought the album on the basis of hearing this one track and am loving it. A fusion of Nick Cave and Counting Crows, meets The Doors ;-)

Love this song!

The subtle dissonance in the songs refrain is what makes this song so haunting and gorgeous.

I guess a lot of listeners like this song, but it is OVERPLAYED.  Does this group have any other songs?
With all due respect to the Madrugada fans out there, I find this song annoyingly repetitive--both in lyrics and melody.  Monotonous and monotonic, if you ask me.  Sorry, just don't like it.

I dont' really apreciate the live version, little bit forced, prefer this one, more natural

Really like it, got a bit of a Nick Cave thing going down. Heck, I can imagine cave singing this.

It's nice to hear a different version of this, but the live version (from "Live at the Tralfamadore") is incredibly powerful and well worth it!
The live version is much more powerful ... this version is almost sweet

Don't like it as much as the live version but damn, Sivert Hoyem has a beautiful and haunting voice!
Man, the weather is terrible, I can hear the Crab Slough fog horn from here . . . wait, it's just Madrugada again.

Sex with a unique meeting of minds?  Fleeting but glorious.

Makes me think of Steven Wilson's lyrics about sex as just another way of passing time.

Wow, first time I've heard the studio version.  Soooooo much better than the live dreck, with his godawful caterwauling.  Thanks for playing this one instead.
