Let it rain
As I walk these streets unknown
To no one named
Not even myself
When I'm low

Give me hope
That help is coming
When I need it most
Give me hope
That help is coming
When I need it most

Let it go
No mother no father no home
Forget as all others
Have forgotten
When I'm alone

But give me hope
That help is coming
When I need it most
Give me hope
That help is coming
When I need it most

Let it come
Love that lifts me up
Pain that brings me down
Everything I'd ever want and don't
When I'm not strong

But give me hope
That help is coming
When I need it most
Give me hope
That help is coming
When I need it most

Let it rain
Let it flood these streets and wash me away
To where it makes no difference who I am
Or what the future holds
When I don't know

But give me hope
That help is coming
When I need it most
Give me hope
That help is coming
When I need it most

I agree, she has a very  nice voice!

Death, taxes and Bill will play both Tracy Chapman and Suzanne Vega at least once an hour.
Why does she look so submissive and cautious with her eyes down. Tracy, look at me with a broad shoulder and a clear view.

Love Cracker, but figure they like 'good' folk singers too. Check out "Heaven's Here on Earth". I think it's my creed.
Have to agree with you - that is a truly beautiful tune.
Umm, Bill, it's a holiday weekend here in the states could we pick it up a bit? I'm trying to get some work done!
same ole Tracy
Mellow platitudes . . . no thankee. HOWEVER!--that jacket is awesome! Worth the song just to see a truly cool jacket. As blue as the song wishes it were.

Fast Car tricked millions into buying her album. That was a good song; everything else blows. Hard to find a Tracy Chapman song I like. In the immortal words of David Lowrie (Cracker), "What the world needs now is another folk singer like I need a hole in my head!"
I havent found anything since Fast Car to be as moving, I never bought any of her album. Gimme One Reason was cute, but again, I didnt buy the album. I wondered why the storyteller element never returned much to her songs because I think its a strong one that doesnt grow old.The record industry thinks otherwise of course. It doesnt matter what color you are, everyone's got life tales and they strike chords like no acoustic preacher can match, IMHO.

Yep. Quite nice.

Yes, totally honest is exactly right. You might criticize her music, but you can never question her sincerity.

Beautiful voice, beautiful lyrics. Totally honest artist. There should be more like her.

How appropriate. Raining in NYC.
No winner, but quite a beautiful song, sung by quite an impressive artist. Interesting dissonants!
