well he lit you up
like amber waves in his movie show
he fixed you up real good
till i don't know you anymore
from ballet class to a lap dance
straight to video
and the pool side news
was that he would be
launching you

into every young man's
bedroom - you gave it up
on dvd and magazine -
you gave it up
a private rite of passage
you gave it up
to every boy's sweet dream
with their paper cuts

you said "he's got a
healing machine
it glows in the dark
glows in the dark:
you say "there's not a lot
of me
left anymore -
just leave it alone.
but if you're buy, and you have
the time, tell the northern
lights to keep shining - lately it seems like they're drowning"

he cold light you up
and summon every swan
or the lakeside
off to cabo san lucas
for some optical stimulus
then you started to guess
there was someone else
though his flint glass
seeing all of you
immersed in his sepia

into every young man's
bedroom - you gave it up
on dvd and magazine -
you gave it up
a private rite of passage
you gave it up
to every boy's sweet dream
with their paper cuts

so i went by -
cause i had the time,
and told the northern lights
to keep shining
they told me to tell you -
they're waving

Awesome, LLRP

Finally a tori Amos song I like
Holy crap, this is horrid.
This is pretty, I hadn't heard it before. Thanks
(at least) two big allusions in this song—the Stevie Smith poem Not Waving But Drowning and Julianne Moore's porn star character Amber Waves from the movie Boogie Nights.

I agree. For all those who are also fans or even the ones who are not and are curious to find out more about what the album or songs are about heres a link to a show that aired December 17th on KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic. Just Tori and her piano performs a set of hand picked songs (something I'm sure some of us miss with Tori) and talks about some of the meaning of her songs and her album: https://kcrw.com/cgi-bin/db/kcrw.pl?show_code=mb&air_date=12/17/02&tmplt_type=show

I LOVE this one!! I found the lyrics on a tori-site it seems to maybe be about the porn industry? does anyone have any ideas or knowledge of what this one is really about? here\'s a link to the lyrics: https://www.stuff.to/include.php?include=/talyr/AmberWaves.txl&
A bit too much Tori on here, lately. I had my fill of Tori's music after the first album. She's gotten quite repetitive.
Much better than that other song, \"Taxi Ride,\" but still a little plain. Maybe her previous albums have just given me high expectations.
I can endure almost any song for a few minutes. It\'s worth it because of the rest of the RadioParadise playlist. But!!...Tori Amos! Ugh...she forces me to briefly turn the volume off. Make it stop!!! :frustrated:
Wow. I haven\'t enjoyed Tori this much since \"Under the Pink\" Thanks!
TODAY is great, well, as far as Radio Paradise is concerned! you are making us tori-lovers soooo smiley! Now I am leaving the office with a big grin! Thanks RP! :D :D :D
Just wanted to let other Tori fans know that the first single called \"a sorta fairytale\" is going to be premiered today for three days only on the web. You can hear it at Aol keyword: First Listen and on the web at Netscape, AIM Today, ICQ and CompuServe.
Shoot. I missed it!
I am so pleased to hear this! The album will be released October 29th, and you can pre-order it on Amazon. This is the first song I have heard as well. Does anyone know if it is the same as the single she is supposed to be releasing via AOL first listen today?
Yay! TORI! Please, can someone tell me when this is being released? I am very very excited. This is the first place I have heard it. :notworthy:
