I, I'm so in love with you
Whatever you want to do is all right with me
'Cause you make me feel so brand new
And I want to spend my life with you

Let me say, since (baby)
Since we've been together
Loving you forever is what I need
Let me be the one you come running to
I'll never be untrue

Ooh baby, let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether
Whether times are good or bad
Happy or sad

Ooh, yeah
Whether times are good or bad
Happy or sad

Why, somebody, why people break up
And turn around and make up
I just can't deceive
You'd never do that to me, would you baby?
Staying being around you is all I see

Here's what I want us to do
Let's, we ought to stay together
Loving you whether
Whether times are good or bad
Happy or sad

Come on, let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether
Whether times are good or bad
Happy or sad

Great segue from Flaming Lips
Take me to wherever his nearest concert is.
"you'd never do that to meeeeeee"
(would you baby?)

Gets me every time.

I went record(disc) shopping with an acquaintance back in the late 1980s. He bought one by World Party and he sort of snorted dismissively when he saw I had Al Green's Greatest Hits.  I told him "I like World Party. They're good. But reverend Al's music is still gonna' be around long after they are gone. " All these years later, I still like a few World Party songs, but I still feel the same about Al Green. He is lasting and timeless.

Everytime I hear this song I remember how great Pulp Fiction was

If I recall correctly, the Best of Al Green was the first in a batch of CDs I first bought.
I love singing the "would you baby?" line with Al.
One of the bester ever tune imho
Al Green - "Let's stay Together" - still brilliant after all these years.

Fortunately I was familiar with this song before that director started making his "movies".
Surprised that I haven't yet commented on this 10-rate of a tune.  And part of the soundtrack of one of my favorite films, the first and only time I've seen a movie alone in a theater...and that was what...23 years ago...gawdam!
Long Live RP!!

So much better than Skynet's on-hold music.

Good advise. It would be a lot easier though, if he would go away.

Silky smooth and sets the mood. That is one groovy jacket as well.

I'd be doing my grade school homework with a desk top am radio on, and this Al Green masterpiece froze me every time, it was the sound of calm sincerity that I really never heard anywhere else (back in the 70's)       still love it

The Pinnacle. Sadly, these singers seem to no longer exist. In their wake, lies only detritus.
Pure bliss. A 10.

Beautiful song, so beautiful. Thank you Al Green
Loved Tina's comeback version but this original is sublime

If I had to make a complaint about RP it'd be that there is way to little soul/funk played.
It's a very very small percent.

IIRC the limit to the length of a song you could cut to a 45rpm single was 4 minutes or so, thus the song length was to a great extent determined by the single format.

Obama in 2012, for sure.

Looks like somebody had a big quaff of kool-aid.

Funny, I don't trust any of them.

Great tune from Rev AL though!

Sadly, the Lay's Potato Chip advert has ruined this song for me. Not that it was on my favorites list anyway. Guess I can't begrudge him making a few bucks. And the advert worked - I remember the association and the product. Though I don't like potato chips. How's that for pointless blather?
He's had a lot of good songs.  Great voice.
I think I am going to puke....now back to the great music and my lovely tea party.  One lump or two?

Great old soul song that has stood the test of time. Too bad so many have to relate it to politics now, just because the President sang two lines of it (in Mr. Green's presence).
I've loved this song from the very first time hearing it, so super lovely cool!

Is this the Obama version or...  oh, wait... never mind.
So did this make it back in the rotation because of a recent campaign event? :o)
This song sends chills up and down my spine.
