I was born the week the Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan Show and their music has always been on the soundtrack of my life. I believe that all you need to know about the 60s is contained in their oeuvre.

Saw McCartney close down Candlestick Park in San Francisco in 2014, 48 years after The Beatles last concert in that same venue. Besides it being by far Paul's best performance of the five times I saw him live (and the best Beatles show I ever saw, having seen all of them live, including John's last ever concert), what made it heavenly was that, in his third and fourth encores, he played most of Side 2 of Abbey Road (as Bill has done here!), and then played the last four or five songs The Beatles played in their final concert, at Candlestick those 48 years earlier. I Consider myself blessed to have witnessed that show in person.

Wow, just now, the weather has been in perfectly outlandishly in synch with this song,,,a breathless hush, a rush of mugginess, then some gentle thunder, and soft, sweet-smelling rain...then the intoxicating smell of the pines and junipers drinking it up and giving us some righteous air...the sun now peeking from behind a cloud just past The Divide...and the cool breeze rolls in, and I can hear the creek again...SUBLIME; DIVINE!

For me, the apogee of modern music. For a band that was on the point of breaking up, they have created a timeless masterpiece. And let's not forget George Martin's part in all this - the sublime orchestration, and the understanding of how to pace and craft a dynamic journey.

It also amazing that this was recorded only 6 years after they released "I Saw Here Standing There" (1963). ...you know what I mean!! 
GREAT TUNE! GREAT ALBUM! It is amazing that this was THE LAST RECORDING that the Beatles made, even though it was released before the "Let it Be" album. A great way to go out! Than You RP!

This was the last studio recording by the Beatles. What a way to go out! Let it Be was recorded prior to Abby Road, even though iit was released after it.

I had a great Craig 8-track player with home stereo speakers in my little Rambler station wagon in the early 70's. We parked in the shadows and stayed up all night listening to this over and over. Didn't take much to connect me to myself back in those days. Just music pushing shadows. Moving and breathing. Never lost in the darkness...

How can anyone at least not admire these icons. Even my stuffy creative writing instructor compared much of the Beatles lyrics with T.S. Eliot and others. Who knows, maybe they took a few ideas from the old masters. Talk about prolific writing. Also must have been difficult for four dudes to get on as much time as they spent together. Eventually, it did fall apart, but not before massive amount of hits.

I'm so utterly confused; I thought I'd heard all the Beatles hits, and I'm pretty confident I've never once in my life heard this. PS: I was 14yrs old when this came out & bought it within 2 weeks of it's release! I had a crappy stereo then. It is even better NOW in FLAC w/ great studio phones, amp & DAC! Thanx RP!
Of course these days the explanation is AI, but there's a Reddit discussion of the same image (just asking when it was shot) that predates decent AI photoshopping.
