The love you take
Is equal to the love you make.
Best line ever
"Out of college, money spent
See no future, pay no rent"
1969. 2025. No damn difference in this eff'd up world.
Saw McCartney close down Candlestick Park in San Francisco in 2014, 48 years after The Beatles last concert in that same venue. Besides it being by far Paul's best performance of the five times I saw him live (and the best Beatles show I ever saw, having seen all of them live, including John's last ever concert), what made it heavenly was that, in his third and fourth encores, he played most of Side 2 of Abbey Road (as Bill has done here!), and then played the last four or five songs The Beatles played in their final concert, at Candlestick those 48 years earlier. I Consider myself blessed to have witnessed that show in person.
You have no idea how jealous I am.
Where's the 11 button?
There's few tunes that go above and beyond a simple "10."
Yeah, for me, this medley tops that short list.
in other news...
I'd love to hear the inside scoop on the Paul is Dead saga.
I remember trying to play Revolution #9 backwards on my turntable...
Those were the daze.
Well how about that - just had 20Mins of Abbey Road and you're wish has come true - now playing the 4 Seasons (well just one of them!!) - you must have inflence!
Same again - Spring from Vivaldi's Four Seasons a month later . Impressive influence there!
I think Vivaldi 4 Seasons scores higher. Good company to be in, though.

You know, I DID have this rated at 10, but after reading comments like this...
... I'm going to rate it a 7 in defense of the maligned people out there who 'missed music appreciation classes'
Cripes, people, talking down to people over the Beatles is NOT A GOOD LOOK. Don't be that guy or gal. Especially if you are old, you're making all us old people look really bad.
Also taking down the Beatles over people doesn't look good either lol
A tour de force if there ever was one. 10.
And the thing of it is...the Beatles did this consistently. Over and over. Every album.
At the pinnacle of the pyramid are these guys and Brother Bob Dylan.
Is this the top rated song on RP? It has to be close. It's as close to perfection as an album can get.

After Abbey Road, so glad the Beatles never reunited. This is how I remember them.
Never thought about it that way, but…….I completely agree. They were absolutely epic, I don’t know who else they could be compared against. And they knew when it was over and time to move on.

Yes, me too. I remember when and where exactly I was when I first heard Abbey Road, and not only did it make my hair stand on end, but it provoked me to run laps around our house singing along at the top of my lungs (I had the sleeve liner in my tight little hands). I was 7-years old in 1970, and this album remains my number one favorite. It still makes my hair stand on end and my eyes water (what the hell!). I feel so lucky to be able hear and enjoy such incredible music.
& always a treat when William plays nearly an entire side of the album!!

Just the best 15 minutes of music ever recorded.
Perhaps a bit of an overstatement but I'm okay with it.
What fucking radio station are you going to hear this on?
R A D I O P A R A D I S E ................................... Thank you Bill & Co ❤️
(I saw them in my local Church hall in Sutton Coldfield, UK , on 1st February 1963 - doing their 'rounds' in their van. This female never thought she'd be here, aged 74, still listening to 'our lads' on the radio from over the pond in 2023 - 60 years later. Thank you guys for all the wonderful music you gave us ..... 'in tears' ......... )
the love you take,
is equal to the love
you make..."
Yeeeah! The Beatles day! <3 Love it.
So sad they're no longer here - but oh my, what they left behind. 74 years old now, but they still sound just as good to me as they did back then. ✌️ ❤️

Turned it on and this FARGIN BEATLES SONG WAS STILL PLAYING!
Welcome to RP's new business model.
Turned it on and this FARGIN BEATLES SONG WAS STILL PLAYING!
You are the BEST and thank you for the effort and love you put into your work!
I'm not a Beatles fan, but the more I listen to RP I am.
Question for the old-timers: this song took up a whole side of the record, yes?
Side 2 (or B) on the LP started with Here comes the Sun, then Because and then the 16 Medley (You never give me your money - Sun King - Mean Mr. Mustard - Polythene Pam- She came in through the bathroom window - Golden Slumbers - Carry that weight - The end) . No doubt the best side B in the history of music
Question for the old-timers: this song took up a whole side of the record, yes?
I was lucky to see them before they were famous - in our local Church Hall back in 1962.
Wonderful times, wonderful music.
Thanks, Bill.
Some of these songs show up in the Get Back documentary. They were works in progress at that time so you see the Beatles ad libbing lines as placeholders. There's also stuff that surfaced on solo albums later (All Things Must Pass, Jealous Guy)
What was surprising and cool to hear was all the unrecorded stuff. usually just anywhere from 30 seconds to two minutes. Stuff that I'm not sure was ever finished or released.
I am constantly in awe of the musical growth between Please, Please Me in '63 and their final album Abbey Road in '69. Six years!!!
Secures their place in music history along the greatest musical innovators.
Truly mind blowing.
"Secures their place in music history along the greatest musical innovators." Not to mention the huge influence they have held over music in the years since.
over rated
tell that to the 77% on here who have rated this a 9 or 10.
RADIO PARADISE ROCKS!!!!!
This song is better than anything new.
Everything is better: the lyrics, the vocals, the musicians, the sound engineering, the creativity, the hooks,. Everything.
And the album cover! Still trying to figure it out! I thought Paul was dead!!!!

You downvoted this on account of one person's opinion? That's harsh.
A 3fer would be Here Comes the Sun -> Because->The rest of side 2
Not sure the issues with playing a whole side uninterrupted, but this 2 song segue rocks.
This was the LAST album recorded by Beatles, even though it was released prior to Let it Be. GREAT ALBUM!!! What a way to go out!!!
The Fab Four applauding -- extraordinary !

i think you are seriously underrated...mental illness is not a grading stat for music either are you....how pathetic
Just tell me what other band has ever come close to leave a perennial mark like they did. Just incredible
Gets a one from me. I detest the beatles.
Condolences, you poor wretched soul. This track alone celebrates life itself.
Gets a one from me. I detest the beatles.
What a silly bunt.

I get your point - it is well made - but there really is no need to change your own rating
If this isn’t a 10 nothing is
Gets a one from me. I detest the beatles.
..and Golden Slumbers nevers fails to deliver me goose bumps (or even tears when I sing along)I have no problem with material that amazes, surprises, and intrigues. What I'm saying is, this doesn't do any of those things. It just confuses me.
That Ringo guy is no Neil Pert...
Neil Pert is no Ringo
Goose bumps...
I'm so utterly confused; I thought I'd heard all the Beatles hits, and I'm pretty confident I've never once in my life heard this. I'm just trying to make sense of a) how have I not heard this, and b) what the hell is this meandering nonsense? They're doing a medley? I guess? Is this supposed to be a rock opera or something?
What I'm saying is, without the benefit of nostalgia, I don't get it.
The Beatles suffered from perhaps too many creative ideas, which meant that some tracks had several different parts, sometimes only somewhat related. Just relax and enjoy this material that still amazes, surprises and intrigues fifty years after release.

PS: I was 14yrs old when this came out & bought it within 2 weeks of it's release! I had a crappy stereo then. It is even better NOW in FLAC w/ great studio phones, amp & DAC! Thanx RP!

Of course these days the explanation is AI, but there's a Reddit discussion of the same image (just asking when it was shot) that predates decent AI photoshopping.
