Banksy and Massive Attack........the best of Brizzle.
timeless...epic...
I first heard Massive Attack's "Just Be Thankful..." and was impressed. Original version by Curtis Mayfield? I'd look it up but try to rely on memory some days...
Outstanding Segue from "Another Brick In the Wall Pt.I&II"
Still sounds awesome!
Us squeamish Dr. Who fans will just skip the slide show thank you.

That is the best idea I've seen in a long time.
This song and the whole album are great. a  modern music's Milestone.
I can listen it for days. Cheers from Italy ;-)
Someone needs to fix that leaky faucet.
Still living the '90s uni life in Bristol.
Clubbing to Trip Hop sounds,
Massive Attack, Portishead et al
its not just music, its a frame of mind, you got it or not.

With a rating of 8 from the RP audience I seriously doubt it. I, for one, would like to have it kept in the rotation. Crank it up!

Nope
This group seems to be stuck in a very dark place. They could probably benefit from getting over it and moving on to greener pastures.
I love this!!!

A great track which appears from nowhere, builds to a bristling peak then slips back into your subconscious.

This whole LP's great, in fact. One of my favourite LPs from the era which pairs up really well with Rhythm and Stealth by Leftfield (another quality 98/99 era release).

I remember how Dissolved Girl (also from this LP) was only audible on Neo's cans in The Matrix but its placement in the scene and plot was perfect. Props to the music super for that treatment.
SO GOOD. Still gives me chills. {#Music}
Clearly 11!

100% agreed!  I've been rather lucky lately with getting the Massive Attack tracks to play while I'm driving to/fro work, while enjoying through my aftermarket truck stereo.  It's not the stereo I had in my college years, although I am amazed at the efficiency of the new all digital amps, I do miss the feeling of the "old" amps (I was running a Phoenix Gold Route 66 which POUNDED my ported sub box) - and I wish I knew of this group back in the day....that's really what I came to comment is how surprised I am by the rather high ratings for Massive Attack tracks....maybe most of us RPsters do have great sound systems and/or headphones.

Long Live RP (and sorry for my rambling posts....esp. since I'm "at work" so I have to switch back and forth from typing my comment and what I get paid for ;-))

I attended a 'make cannabis free' demo in Stockwell Park in Brixton UK many years ago. Walking towards the park through the backstreets of Brixton, someone had set up a sound system out of a top floor house window. This track started playing when walking past the house. I had to stop until it had finished.

I still remember, just as it does now, the shivers it gives through my entire body - such is the effect of this quite magnificent track.

Regards from the Bristol office this rainy Tuesday.  Thanks RP.

I've heard that was quite a cool music scene in Bristol back in the '90s, with bands like the two you mentioned.
Amazing, how popular this song was... It was played in bars from Kanazawa to Kyoto when it came out, and had a big resurgence in the Tokyo club scene mid-2000s... Still brings a visceral experience, especially if played at a good volume with legal refreshments...
So cool, I almost dropped my bong!
How tedious!
Was used really well in the movie Snatch.

Not peculiar at all to me. In upstate NY we always called them toques (tukes) as well. Maybe some Canadian influence I suppose.

From Portishead... to Massive Attack. Bristol in the nineties. Something special happening there.

What a menacing piece of poetry.

What's next, The Heavy?

Loving your choices Bill.
Blended into this after Pink Floyd's Another brick in the wall. Good times :)
I'm way too old for this music but I love it anyway.  Thanks Bill
I'm really like this. Writing code and designing a GUI for a prototype of a medical product at work... Monday AM. Good accompaniment. It feels like a diesel locomotive pushing up a hill here in the Rockies: no question it will made it. Inexorable force overcomes all obstacled. Good metaphor for coding.
I thought 'Angel' played live in Istanbul was the most amazing their live performance I have seen,
all until I seen them in Byblos (Lebanon), this song just left me breathless right there where between the sea and 8000 years old stone walls the 'Angel' was just echoing ....Still feels surreal....
Massive Portishead?  Portishead Attack??

Ditto.  Was it the Heligoland tour?

Inertia Creeps and Teardrop (with the amazing Martina Topley-Bird on vocals) were my favorites of the night.  But really, the whole dang show pulverized me!

Funny little story.

I was out to dinner on Mother's Day with my hubby, our daughter and her SO, my mother, and her hubby. The restaurant was loud and busy, but this song came on over the speakers, very softly. My daughter and I looked at each other, smiled and nodded: it's one of our favorites. A moment later, my Mom's husband sniped loudly, " What the hell is that noise they're playing, all I can hear is the bass!" Megan and I just looked at each other and laughed.

It's hard to believe for me that not everyone loves this, but in reality very few people share similar tastes. We are all hearing a different song when we hear this.

Gotta love it when your kid and you share special moments like that.  The universe aligns for a few seconds, as the ties that bind grow a little stronger.

Yep.
Outstanding!!{#Bananasplit}
Fantastic song. Best use of bass drum I can recall, in this genre of music.

Amazingly, though, all live performances of this song that I have heard, were awful. The one I saw personally (not over YouTube) on Exit Festival was suffering from the same problem as the others - vocal. It was slightly off the note, so sounded like a wannabe on X-Factor, rather than a professional musician.
Creepy.
