I've seen Neil lots of times, and he's awesome every time! but this song makes me smile to recall the many times my Ozzie mate Geoff played it so passionately and well. First time was when I met him and his wife Vicki at the hot springs in Mataranka. Then again when we met while hanging for weeks of wild times in Cairns. Again, when I visited them twice in Melbourne and they graciously showed me the unsurpassed magnificence of all of Victoria. Long may you run, G&V! Cheers, and drink some VB and Boag's for me, dear mates!

I think you hit it square on.  Neil's voice gives his lyrics an urgency which also gives them credibility and context.  Without him they definitely miss something.
