There's a light when my baby is in my arms
There's a light when the window shades are drawn
Hesitate when I feel I may do harm to her
Wash it off, 'cause this feeling we can share

And I know she's reached my heart in thin air

Byzantine is reflected in our pond
There's a cloud, but the water remains calm
Reaching in, the sun's fingers clutch the dawn to pass
Even out, it's a precious thing to bear

And I know she's reached my heart in thin air
Yes, I know she's reached my heart in thin air

It's not in my past to presume
Love can keep on moving in both directions
How to be happy and true
Is the quest we're taking on together

Taking on, on, on, on, on
Taking on, on, on, on, on

There's a light when my baby's in my arms

And I know she's reached my heart in thin air
And I know she's reached my heart in thin air
And I know she's reached my heart in thin air
Yes, I know she's reached my heart

Yes!!  ...and it also looks like the polar response pattern of a binaural  stereo microphone!
EXCELLENT!! Thanx RP!

Done!
For a band that covers a lot of dark ground with song content, this is nice little love song.

Lovely.  I'd like to hear it more often.  Thanks RP.

And don't forget, B&R allow you to skip forward if what's playing ain't floating your boat. FANtastic!!
Never really been a fan. Love this, though.
This gets better every time I hear it.

Good morning Eddie.
Thanks for the wakeup song.

Always loved Pearl Jam, always will.

Indeed. Binaural, one of my favourite PJ albums!
Eddie Vedder..... almost every song cuts deep.What a voice...what a song !
From the Lowlands..Holland thanx Bill

Beautiful song from a vastly underrated album.

Eddie absent?? That leaves Mankind, Sweet Lew, Gremmie out of Control, Don't Give Me No Lip, Brother (Lost Dog's version) and I think The Whale Song.

Someone in the 10C check me on that.

Look - the band has a very powerful core following - I am one of them.

Noone in rock still sells out arenas while not selling multimillions of records as PJ does.

How you feel about Ed's voice is your opinion.

IMHO - folks on these boards get way to caught up in vocal styles - this is rock and roll folks - not pop or opera.

But your opinion is your opinion.

Just no that their are legion who will disagree.

Yes, unlike you however, I do not take it upon myself to speak for others and certainly not for Bill and Rebecca as you do. I was commenting on my disdain for Vedder which, contrary to your all inclusive statement, is shared by many others here.{#Yes}

Well, thank god for the mute button!
One of the finest, most expressive vocalists in the history of rock and roll....that's rock and roll people — singers come in all shapes and sizes and the idea is to convey the soul and emotion of the lyrics you wrote - at least since Mssrs. Lennon and McCartney changed the rules.  So viva Elvis C., Bruce S., Bobby D. and all the others who could never "sing" like Bing Crosby. (although I even like it when Elvis tries :-))

I had this CD with me in Tokyo while on assignment for several months in 2001... these songs rocked me to sleep almost every night... love it , love it!

Have you heard the first half of the new disc? I think they took your advice.
because He is a Rock God!
Why does RP have such a huge boner for Eddie Vedder? ("huge boner" = desire to give, at a minimum, daily airplay)
Hmm, RP is forcing me to rethink my dislike for PJ/EV. You've opened my ears to songs I've not heard before and (gasp) actually like!

My husband gave me this live Pearl Jam DVD. It had Eddie Vedder with a short hair, kinda chubby, and he did a sing-along type deal with the crowd. Where did the long haired crazy guy who jumped out of the stage go? I was sooo disappointed. Their music isn't that great anymore either. Gave it a 7 out of respect.
He actually has dropped the weight and grown his hair back (plus a beard to boot). I think maybe he'd just been touring too long at that point. Check out their website. It's got more current pics from the end of last year and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for appreciating PJ, a little atleast. Well, seems like you're in position where you're able to give only ignorant comments. Myself being a PJ fan, I would like to recommend some lighter PJ songs that might lighten things up. From their collection of B-sides "Lost Dogs", please listen to "Black Red Yellow", "Dirty Frank", "Sweet Lew", "Leaving Here" You will definitely appreciate the humor in those songs.

Pearl Jam I feel is another band that's too earnest and humourless, to the detriment of complexity and nuance. REM are serious, but can inject a certain irony and humour into their songs. Same with Dylan for example, there's that self deprecation in much of his work I'm familiar with. Gee I wish Pearl Jam hadn't become the indie/alternate mainstream staple that they have. I loved the Ten album, the haiku abstraction of 'Oceans' especially, but they just get more up themselves and self conscious as the years pass, I think almost to a point of parody. I'm just waiting for their drummer to explode. Sorry, I know they're a sacred cow to many. Still, better them than Britney. Good to have them in the RP playlist.

PJ comes off as serious because they are writing songs about serious issues- ever hear the forrest gump soundtrack or listen to dylan or bob marley or springsteen or public enemy? those guys were serious, too. we are in a time of war, but most of the popular music of our era has nothing to do with war or anti-war or the people who are leading us to war (with the embarrassing exception of the "country music" scene that pushes a McCarthyesque version of patriotism). but if you really listen to them, and the worn out six-song rotation you hear on commercial radio doesn't count, they do keep an element of zaniness in their music, especially live. most of their albums have gotten increasingly diverse, rather than regurgitory, since ten, with the possible exception of riot act, which is a bit more streamlined, but they definitely showcase a broader spectrum of music than, say, Nirvana or Soundgarden or *insert other stereotypical 90's "grunge" band here*. by the way, "grunge" had more to do with the commercialization of the Seattle music scene than it had to do with the music. end rambling.
They lack humor? C'mon. I saw their first Riot Act show in Denver and it was epic. During Bush League, Eddie impaled a mark of Bush. He also belted out the following... Don't drive me, I'm an SUV Don't drive me, I'm an SUV I seat 15 but there always just one Guzzlin' gas that's paid for in blooooood! Funny? Eh, not laugh out loud but they make their point. They dedicated "Thin Air" to Stone bc. he had his wallet stolen in Telluride, CO.
need to pick up this album at some point.
Once a year is fine...

agreed. Pearl Jam are almost now a living parody of grunge. They're self referencing their music to the point of oblivion, or worse still, a sort of omni-present grunge-muzak. Gee they need to lighten up and get a bit of self deprecation and humour into their work. Evolve a bit. Reinvent themselves. Still, they've produced some gems over the years.
