It was from a Monty Python skit. In writing the skit they wanted a name that was funny, of course, but also so outrageous that no real band would actually use it. Apparently they came up a little short on the second requirement, though both were true at the time.

I totally agree, and am a huge Toad fan as well. FYI, they're touring with Big Head Todd (another favorite of mine) for a few shows this summer in CA. It's a little far for me, but I'd love to see such a great pairing. I'll have to see how I can swing a short vacation.

Saw them several times back during the Pale, Fear and Dulcinea tours.... each time I got to meet them and told Glen I was Donna Summer so he might remember me next time. It never worked...... somehow though, it should have!

Putting aside this merely decent song -which was one of those add-ons to get fans to shell out for a best of/retrospective CD - TOAD is one of my all time favorite bands - serious musical and lyrical ability - they can rock out, they can go a little country, they can go dark and moody or light and happy. I'm so glad they reunited long enough for me to finally see them. Now, check out Glen Phillips solo albums, and Todd and Randy's new band, Lapdog.

The remarks about this band being "like REM" or "too happy" or this song being "generic pop rock" must come from people who aren't familiar with the Toad discography. This song is not representative of their catalog and most of their songs are slower and quieter. Don't judge a band based on one song! I mean, everyone is obviously allowed to have their own opinion, but if I just heard one Pink Floyd song (don't worry, I'm not comparing Toad to Floyd!) and didn't like it, should I assume they all suck? No! We'd all miss out on too much music that way. This band was one of the greats and I wish they were still together. Glen Phillips' solo cd just doesn't measure up to the band's sound.

They are reuniting. They open in Santa Barbara in Dec, then will be playing some shows opening for Counting Crows, then they will be doing a 20 city tour next year. Go to www. glen phillips dot com. Check it out

Toad was one of the best things about living in Santa Barbara. Not only were they incredibly thoughtful and friendly guys, but they also helped the community. (i.e., those annual shows to benefit the Rape Crisis Center in SB.) It would be great to see them again if they indeed re-form for a one-off show in L.A.

That is an odd comment. Most of Toads and Glens solo songs are dark and somewhat depressing, or like previously posted, intospective. Yes, they have a few happy ones, and quite honestly, I prefer their darker, slower songs, but please make an educated critisism. Listen to other Toad. :D
