Our funeral song for our daughter that passed of SIDS...can't say that I need to ever hear it again...not because it isn't beautiful, just too damn hard...

er no it wasn't
Dolly Partonfeel for sure, with much better instrumental tones.
what’s next?  Twinkle twinkle little star?
Sounds like a pirate lullaby.  A lullashanty?

Small stuff amuses, eh?

Vocal delivery on this song is top notch. I can listen to this one as often as you want to play it. :)

Thx to Patty's voice an 8 for this song
Just to be clear, what does a 'whole heap of little horses' look like? Are they in a pile? Like puppies?

Fixed. Hey, now it's probably true.

My 27 year old daughter would be the FIRST to say there's plenty of room for ALL music....thank God
Bill …. The best way to get to me to unsubscribe… if your wondering… is to play exactly the following songs in 15 mins span of time. OMG.

I'm a young listener, I like it, it's nice to chill out every once and a while. beautiful whistle work.

One of the better tracks from this outstanding album. Pity the poor who don't appreciate musical beauty.

Great song  - for Nickelodeonradio.com. Please remove from RP play list!
Oh please, sink this one in the sea. no redeaming qualities unless I wanted to have a make-believe little house on the prairie day or something. This is the dullest ramble I have been subjected to in awhile. Worse that the work meeting last week about gender equality hahhahaha{#Dancingbanana_2}

I had to check out this song (first time in days) to see what this was because it was so BAD.  Please, a lullaby?!

Maybe you should find a partner with better musical tastes. ;-)
hmmkay song.. but shouldn't be played before nap time >.<
my brother used to say< "go to sleep you little baby."  after teasing me at night to the crying point
I am a huge Patty Griffin fan, and haven't heard this song before. Liked it...thanks for playing.

This woman & this track remind me of how RP is like a drive with someone else at the wheel. There's little control as to direction, but always something engaging to experience. Just chill, look out the window and be glad for once that you're not driving.

Well said P8

Well I guess it is time to go to sleep even though I am not a horse. Goodnight All!
Great group but not to follow Azam Ali's style...
For some reason, she sounds a lot like Dolly Parton(!) on this cut.
Gorgeous track from a stellar album.

Along with Joan Osborne, Griffin is one of the most versatile vocalists around these days.
Patti Griffith and the Chieftains: an excellent match! ... lifting my pint in their direction ...
HAIL BILL AND HIS SEGUE SUPREMUS
ah, now I dont have to take my valium.....ZZZZZZZ

Yea, I've an album of theirs since the late 70's, and this isn't bad, but, some of the tunes don't compare with others who did them. Doc Watson doing "Tennessee Stud" is the best version, Merl Travis doing "Dark as a Dungeon" is best also.
Bill, you need to add Tennessee Stud to the rotation. Now thems good horses . . .

Technically, this song is fine; but for some reason I find it very dark in tone. Like she's telling a child to go to sleep, but there's this underlying theme that something very, very bad is going to happen to the child once they do. Imminent death at the hands of someone trusted. It's weird, but it's what I get out of it.
That's a common aspect of a lot of folk music. It comes from a time when the baby you sing to sleep one night could very well be carried away by smallpox, scarlet fever, typhoid, whooping cough, or any number of other causes the next night. Death was never a stranger.
Sounds more like Mindy Smith back there. 7.
These Chieftains have probably collaborated with other artists more than any other band I can think of. That reminds me of the joke Doug Dickson (local celtic music show host on WCBE) told me: Why did the chicken cross the road? To record an album with the Chieftains.

How is it possible i don't own this? I love both the Chieftains and Patty and never heard them together before. Just beautiful.
I dunno... there's better Chieftains out there than this one. Good Celtic set though, Bill.
Nice song, but is this put you to sleep set?
How funny! I just got this cd yesterday from Amazon (through the RP link of course!) but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.
Patty always makes everything better!!!
