Kurt, you get points for sticking to your arguments in spite of the conversation around them.

To be clear...I do not care about your local economy unless things get so back that I am at risk driving through Ohio.  The turnpike is in good shape for now (sidenote:  you should thank me for the ridiculous cost of driving on that road).

I also don't care where you live (unless you want to grab a beer while I fill up on free gas nearby).

My comment was about Trump's fascination with Lordstown, and the fact that he could have easily used GM's production of ventilators (the start of this back and forth) a positive instead of a negative.   If I'm not mistaken, didn't he tell people not to sell their homes or relocate...that jobs would be back?   He'd see to it personally!   Maybe you should send him a tweet about the missing jobs...and explain that his failure to deliver on his promise is 10 times larger than most believe.

UAW employees at Lordstown at its peak = 14,000.  Total over the years it was open..double that number?  Trump won Trumbull county by 6,000 votes in 2016.

Local economies (by label) never mean as much to outsiders.   Folks in Cleveland care more about it than Pittsburgh because its in Ohio, but neither care much.  Trump doesn't give a crap about your local economy, the people working in the plant, or the ventilators discussed in the original post....he cares about votes.

What's amusing is that he literally refuses to grow his appeal when given the opportunity.  Instead of attacking GM, it's female president, and the decision to build in Indiana....Be positive and take credit (while blowing smoke up the ass of OH voters)....
Glad to see that as we look for ways to leverage American ingenuity and consider options to use and/or avoid the War Powers enacted, that the great men and (notably) women of GM and Ventac are going to work quickly to deliver much-needed ventilators using an already converted plant in Indiana.  Big thanks to the Hoosier state!  I had hoped to help the folks in Lordstown, but it just wasn't in the cards this time around...but we're gonna use that space and those great workers ASAP!  Keeping America Great!
Now wasn't that easy?  Love for GM, Ventac, women, Indiana, Ohio, Lordstown....AND you get to claim false credit for focusing on Coronavirus, using your powers, and getting stuff built.  He might win again in the fall....but not if he keeps setting himself on fire.

You do not understand the economy of this area very well.  Lordstown employed people from both Ohio and Pennsylvania.  There were lot's of local feeder companies that made parts for the cars.  It is way more than just about the 14,000 that worked there.  The usual multiplier for peripheral jobs for a plant like Lordstown is 10.  So make that 140,000 local jobs related to Lordstown. Trucking companies whose sole business was Lordstown.  To this day as I drive into town coming up 480 from the turnpike, I see many cars with Pa plates on them, everyday, everytime.  I recognize many of the cars as they are regular daily commuters into Cleveland.  The mile marker at my Turnpike exit is the 192, the Pa border is 241.  This area is not as simple as it may look to an outsider.  Tim Ryan is my Congressman and I live in Portage County since you went looking up things.

It's truly amazing.  It reinforces POTUS's inability to consider anything for the good of the country first.  Every single decision he makes is through the very short lens of his mental ability and what he believes politically helps him.  Lordstown represents to Trump the UAW which he sees as all "American manufacturing".  If you've ever passed the plant (it's just off the Ohio Turnpike), it is literally the size of an airport.  It's a memorable set of buildings to see and apparently has cemented itself into Trump's mind as the place he can take credit for saving the Americans manufacturing sector.

Important note:  GM doesn't even own Lordstown anymore...they sold it in December to an EV Truck startup.

I know Lordstown well, it's just about half an hour down the Ohio Turnpike from where I live and the plazas on the turnpike I ran for for 5 years.   Yes, it is as big as an airport.  It has its own special exits on the turnpike that were installed since after I moved here.  That was a big deal all by itself.  It has been through many, many crisis's over the years.  I've hung out with people in that neck of the woods back in the 70's.  It's first crisis was the Vega and all of the problems associated with it.  The plant sat idle for a long time getting over that.  Next was the problem with the PCB's and that shut it down until they were cleaned up.  It has had a profound cause and effect on our local economy ever since it was open and even more so when all the steel mills in Y-town closed making the local economy even more dependent on it.

Trump came into this area and gave it more than the usual lip service and Lordstown is symbolic and relateable around here for many things.  So consider the local angle of the story for a minute.  May not mean anything to you somewhere else, but it has some meaning around here.

Fun fact.  At the peak of the auto manufacturing daze in the US, Ohio had the most auto plants of any state, including Michigan.  I believe the count was 11, at least.  Mansfield, Toledo (2), Lorain, Cleveland, Parma, Walton Hills, Lordstown, Honda down in Marysville, Twinsburg, Fisher Body in Euclid, off of the top of my head.  I can also tell you who owned the plants and what each one did ...  I have many friends who have actually worked in many of these plants.

One night while driving home from a concert at 3 Rivers in Pittsburgh, we saw the Aurora Borealis driving by Lordstown.  It was one of those rare occurrences where is was visible at latitudes that far south.  The concert was Clapton, The Band, Todd and someone else I forget.
