The first graph is stunning.  History will not treat the Trump regime kindly.

Why spread incorrect information/noise like this? The folks against Trump have their minds made up, and likewise with the pro-Trumpers. This just muddies up the understanding we're trying to gain about what this pandemic is/isn't and what we should/shouldn't be doing.

Of course he's wrong. Politicians aren't (usually) scientists. We shouldn't be listening to them about how to handle a scientific problem, and especially shouldn't encourage them to make predictions that are in their own best interests. You just become their mouthpiece.

People today look at masks and say "they don't work unless they're N95 blah blah blah" and that's exactly the reasoning behind the recommendations IN FEBRUARY when N95s were scarce and we didn't have any evidence that a bandanna wouldn't do more harm than good. But we saw how other countries were getting along and quickly realized that *anything* is better than nothing. But apparently some people are capable of learning one thing a year, so when they learned in February that non-N95 masks were probably not good, they had used up their capacity for rational thought.

Sure.  And then there's the idiots who reuse their masks over and over, touch their masks, don't wear the masks correctly, drive their car as the sole occupant with the mask on, or walk outdoors with that mask. etc etc.

Whatever the guidance, there's always a significant segment of the population that just doesn't understand, has zero common sense and/or they have used up their capacity for rational thought.

seems everyone needs a political scapegoat

if fauci got something wrong or made a mistake, he didn't do it intentionally

my issue with him was that he or someone else didn't rec face coverings until later

people make mistakes, acknowledge it and move on (i did)

just a friendly recommendation

Yeah, from your other paranoid buddy (2020-02-25):
Folks, this coronavirus thing, I want to try to put this in perspective for you. It looks like the coronavirus is being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump," Limbaugh said.

"You think I’m wrong about this? You think I’m missing it by saying that’s ... Yeah, I’m dead right on this. The coronavirus is the common cold, folks," he continued.

Limbaugh then pointed to large drops in the stock market in recent days thought to be caused by fears of the coronavirus outbreak, and repeated a debunked conspiracy theory that the disease was a released bioweapon.

"Ninety-eight percent of people who get the coronavirus survive," he said. "It’s a respiratory system virus. It probably is a ChiCom laboratory experiment that is in the process of being weaponized. All superpower nations weaponize bioweapons."

U.S. officials previously told AFP that conspiracy theories about the coronavirus including its alleged origin as a bioweapon were being spread by Russian disinformation sites and troll accounts on social media.

Other conservative figures including Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) have also repeated the conspiracy theory in recent days.

The coronavirus has spread to 29 countries outside of China and there have been more than 30 cases reported in the U.S.
Can you die from a common cold?

Don't know whether your stages count up or down but we are currently in stage 3 with no (known) local active cases in the area except one from outside the region in hospital. They did just open up restaurants to sit-in dining for reduced numbers. I'll leave it to the young people for a while. Masks required. Melbourne still under more strict stage 4. A 2 week average of less than 30 cases a day for a city of 5 million. Curfew and can't travel more than 5 km from home. Royal commission on what went wrong with the hotel quarantine program for returning travelers that kicked off the second wave (don't hire private security guards).

The USA pretty much comes off as a very weak country to the rest of the world.
