It seems like you're a soulless friend
As spotless as you were back then
I swear that you are godless
Hey I guess you're lonely when
I gave you all it took so then
A stranger there is ever been
I guess, it's what you wanted
Of late, it seems lonely I would be
I begged, I plead
But this is all that I have gotten
Hey as for the day my friend
To hope that you could ever bend
I swear you are, I swear you are
I swear, that you are godless
Hey I said you're godless
Hey and you're a soulless friend
Hey I said you're heartless
And I swear, I swear
Godless
Godless
you're godless
I agree totally. I've been loving RP for AT LEAST a decade and it has been the source of me finding some of my favorite tracks and artists - over and over. I finally decided that it was LONG overdue to start contributing, which I finally did last year.
I'm in Toronto and feel fortunate to have found RP...it's a pleasure to help support such fine and varied content from two lovely people
Sorry I'm posting this here. I could find anyplace for general comments. If it exists, please move this as appropriate.
I've been listening to RP for more than a decade. It's the nest example of which I know that leverages the power of the internet for good, gracing the entire planet with it's programmers knack for showcasing amazing music.
When friends inquire about whether the music stream is Pandora or Spotify, I explain what I surmise to be Bill's key insight. You really can't have an interesting, for profit, local radio station. Costs are much higher and moreover, connecting with listeners within a defined broadcast area, necessities bland and repetitive content. At the pinnace of Bill's insight sits RP; such varied, high-quality programming and a world-wide audience, some 10% of whom (myself included) pay a small sum to underwrite Bill's and Rebecca's Rockin' Roll Lifestyle.

The best dandy Warhol song in my opinion
All the Dandy Warhols songs are the best Dandy Warhols songs.
To all who cite plagiarism: Did it occur to you that the Warhols chose the chord progression of "My Sweet Lord" as a contrast to "Godless"? Jesus, people, think a little deeper, please.
Perhaps. Though, based on much of the Dandy Warhols catalog utilizing fairly trivial and repetitive chord progressions, that might be giving them too much credit.
The louder this song is played the higher the rating. Try it. It’s called the Dandy Effect.
Yeah! Applies to this whole album. If I could recount all the drug and alcohol fueled shenanigans that... er... never mind.
Agreed! RP do it all the time...keep it up Bill

You can call this My Sweet Chord.

I think it does include the one playing, as I've never seen "0". Besides, it can't be "0" as the moment that the song has been played for listener A, listener B may not have heard it yet :)
By the way, great segue from COYB!

Dont know this album from Kuepper but for sure this song could be on "Prehistoric sound", the great album from the Saints. It sound exactly the same, but it's oK, it's a very good song.
I thnk new to RP rotation.
I never noticed that! Thanks!

meh.

Portland IPAs and the DWs. Best day ever!

I feel that way about the entire song. Another post below mentioned that this is on nearly all of their playlists. Same here. I have been guilty of hitting repeat for this one! If someone puts out a 5 minute long re-mix - I'm in!
Thank you for this information!

That sweat lord probably just needs to use an antiperspirant!

Now that is a funny comeback, Proclivities!
And even to this day I don't get how George H was found to have unconsciously plagiarized the Chiffons' "He's so Fine" - unbelievable really. At least the Dandy Warhols made use of the "My Sweet Lord" sound humorously in giving us "Godless." It's a 9 from this Sweaty Seattleite (hey it's in the 90s here

F' it, me too! why do I only have this rated as a 9?
Fixed.

Other than the first two chords, it's an entirely different chord progression than that of "My Sweet Lord" and "He's So Fine".

How was the show?
It was fantastic to meet all of them. They were very cool and down to earth. Got to see about 3 songs during sound check, then the band hung out with us for a bit. The show itself was great - but they had trouble with getting the sound right in the venue, so that could have been better. Highly recommend seeing them if you can.
uh..what about churches? oh...they are out of vogue nowadays because you find entire families there.
Churches, yes! My bad. My parents took my brothers and me to church about five times by the time I was 10 and then gave it up, so I don't have much personal experience to draw on. Now, M&D are hip-deep in their Unitarian local.
1/5/16 edit: Excellent segue from Bowie "Heroes" to this, which in a fit of enthusiasm I have boosted to 10.
Nope, you're the first.
That is mean

Nope, you're the first.
How was the show?
BTW, Dig! movie fans, I asked about that and they all agreed it was very much edited to show tension between them and BJM that really was not there....your inside scoop of the day.
Good appointment even it's offtopic ;)
Nice musical pun (or at least a musical allusion). That song mentions 5 (or so) different forms of God, and this song is called Godless...
A riff is as good as a lawsuit.
Edit: that's a compliment
One of my all time favourite pieces.
I was just havin' a little fun, Proc. ; )
Now we've got the whole Sam Smith / Tom Petty thing; it all seems a bit silly.

On a quieter note:

Maybe George's estate should sue these guys??
Why are people still bringing this up? Harrison was (ludicrously) sued for stealing the entire structure and melody of a song and writing different lyrics for it, not for stealing a "riff". Guitar-strumming styles cannot be copyrighted - especially when just strumming a I - IV progression.
I suggest just ignoring him. Like my pappy told me, "Son, never argue with a jackass. After a while folks can't tell the difference."
When arguing with an idiot, make sure he's not doing the same. :)
Regardless if he's andy warhol or not of course.

(oh, and BTW, "I" "still" "hate" "jazz"

Wah. Wah. Wah. Let me get you a refill.
Witch hunts? I'm not the one harassing and trolling members on the quality and content of their posts in some goofy Quest to improve RP boards (aka "The Program!"). I'm not the one demanding that BillG ban some members and gratuitously insulting others.
I go after you because you're a troll and bomb-thrower who can't or won't back up his idiotic sweeping statements and who even admitted that some of his old posts shock him. You're rude, obnoxious and shallow. By and large I don't think you do make people feel welcome and comfortable. Do your own self-inventory about following Third Space rules.
If "rdo" is just some big windup or joke, well the joke's on you. You crap on others and I crap on you for it. I'm having a good time doing so, actually. You're easy target practice for me.

Can't say I care or ever did*. Seriously, is there any point to you at all? smh

You apparently have some intelligence and genuine interest in RP. Why not take those two positives and put some more thought into your posts while cutting down on the snarks to others? I'd be happy to treat you with more respect and kindness if you'd stop being a dick.
*Unless rdo=Robert Dale or someone known to him. That's unlikely, but if true I will hunt you down, kick your ass and burn your g.d. clogs in front of you.
