When your only girl betrayed you, boy
What did you do with your wisdom
Well you loved that girl again, loved that girl again
Now who you got to blame for your trials and tribulations
What did you do when you found the man
The one who stole your good girl
Well you cut him up and down, heard you cut him all around
Now who you got to blame for your trials and tribulations
Well I tried to tell you
But you run and hide
Down by the riverbed
Stay drunk all night
It weren't no lady
With scorpion
Well, you're just another rabbit on the run
When they dragged you to the courthouse, boy
What did you do with your wisdom
Well you cursed the judge again, cursed the judge again
Who you gonna blame for your trials and tribulations
Well I tried to tell you
But you run and hide
Down by the trestle bridge
With a .45
It weren't no lady
No, with scorpion
Well, you're just another rabbit on the run
You're just another rabbit on the run
You're just another rabbit on the run
What did you do with your wisdom
Well you loved that girl again, loved that girl again
Now who you got to blame for your trials and tribulations

A rabbit on the run? Is that a saying? The only other place I've heard that phrase is in Paul McCartney & Wings "Band On The Run".
A little Led Zep in there, no problem.
Good Tune! (dig that winged Cat zappin' the booze bottle : )
The always great Johnny Hickman.
I like it! I can relate to the subject of the story in the song. Good slide work, too. Play it again, Bill.

GD
Remindful of McCartney vis a vis Ram
Still had me thinking it was Hot Tuna there for a sec... Great obscure Cracker tune, for sure! Sounds real good on a snowy morning...

Seriously!! Was shocked it was them.
'Bout the only song by Cracker that doesn't have me lunging for the mute button.

My thoughts exactly...
Wow! I can't believe I haven't heard this! I have heard a couple of songs off of this album and like them, but not like this! I was always a fan of Camper and early Cracker, but had not been crazy of anything late 90's on. However, this song is fantastic and I will have to reexplore this album! 9!

Its become a yearly deal now. I went a couple of years ago to hear Neko Case play. That was worth it!
One of my favorite bands! Haven't noticed RP playing any of Johnny's new solo album yet, we need to!! Did anyone out there go to the Cracker/Camper campfest in September up at Pioneertown (near Palm Springs? Very fun, mellow scene with 2 nights of fantastic music under desert stars. This was first year, hopefully they'll do it again next year.

Oh! Haven't been to the Varsity in years! Believe the last band I saw there was Rusted Root.

just another rabbit on the run
No kidding. This song is a revelation. Is the whole CD this way?

I've never really been a Cracker fan, but I like this. Heh, a lot's happened since Kerosene Hat.
Cracker Campfest only 60 days away! Anyone going out there in RP Land?
I feel BronYAur Stomp comin' on...
Never heard the song before...
Have to say, that I really like it!
Will give it a 7.
well who do ya' blame? the girl, the guy, society, .... nah ... George Bush .. yeah he's to blame.
You know, I like this song. Didn't even know that the album existed. I'm always a hair away from kicking Cracker to the curb and denouncing them as garbage - and then they bring me back into the fold with a good tune. OK, I'm back in for a bit, but stop toying with sucking.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp... right on!
Definitely Led Zep III-ish. Has more of a feel-good ring to it though

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp... right on!
Sounds a bit like Jorma K!
Dig it...
Still, it'll be hard to top Kerosene Hat!
cool stomp!

Nailed it.
Hats off to Roy Harper!
This is why I listen to RP.
nice to see my 15month old daughter dancing
I've had Kerosene Hat for years, looks like I need to expand the collection.

Now that you mention it, yep.

Nice lo-fi kind of mix, which gives it just the right sort of authentic blues feel.
Love Cracker! Thank You RP-Never hear this on regular radio.
When they're good they're good. When they're bad ... pee-yu.

Johnny Hickman is my 2nd cousin (guess I have to give this song a 10 :D ) I only met him once, when he was with The Unforgiven. Somewhere I have a home-made tape of Lonesone Johnny Blues ... given by his mum to all us extended-family. I am surprised to see that mentioned here! I always forget how popular Cracker actually is, since they don't get much play that I notice. Also reminds me a bit of the Stones\' \"Prodigal Son\" (I think that\'s the title).
much better than most of the stuff from these guys.
definitely has a "Gallows Pole" meets "Bron-yr-Aur Stomp" thing going on, too - they almost could have just sampled the beat, it is so similar.
Great song, great CD, great band - especially live.
will Zep\'s \"bron-y-aur stomp\" follow this? :)
Great song, sung by the underrated Johnny Hickman. I would also suggest \"Wedding Day\" from the same album, also sung by Mr. Hickman. Very funny lyrics.
This is a great band, especially live!

I'm not entirely sure if it's a direct reference to this WW2 British song, though this here American has heard the phrase "run rabbit run" plenty throughout my life, Pink Floyd, Eminem, etc.
I did also go +2 to 8 today, I heard it today as part of a "river" themed set, and liked the feel of it.
Long Live Radio Paradise!!
