you're right. it would be very typical of him to use something like this. and, hey! look at the cover art. i swear quentin tarantino is one of the walkers...
LOL! Too funny! Excellent tune! Thanx RP!
They gotta surf in Greece...right?
Not much swell in the Mediterranean, sadly.
Why do I always think of a Quentin Tarantino movie when hearing this....?

MOST excellent.
Was always wondering if RP has any greek bands in its playlists. And happily I listen to Diafana Krina today :)
There are so many songs and great bands that RP could play, if only the language barrier didn't exist!
Thanks Bill, quality is synonumous to RP.
Yes!
They gotta surf in Greece...right?
Of course!
Am I the only one hearing marching/ military drums?
I hear the drums, and they are playing march rhythms. Cannot interpret the overall tune as anything but a chill-out plan to go Around the World in 80 Days.
Souvlaki Western?
Love it
They gotta surf in Greece...right?
You bet!!
Souvlaki Western?

While daydreaming!
And I think I'm picking up that same vibe with this one, call it +1 to 8 today. LLRP!!

How does one watch the sunset with their eyes closed?
Eminem/Rihanna's ' Love the way you lie' verses start with that tune.

The Diafana Krina version has an extra flourish at the end of each line, but the rest is pretty close.
....with a vodka induced hangover, yeah, might be.
Thanks
Hello from Belgium
Bang on !
Incomplete quote taken out of context...again.
Me likey!
Great comment and right on! Anybody kow where the cd might be available. it is not on Amazon.
eBay apparently....!
Borat was not Greek, but from Kasakhstan. Also, his character speaks Hebrew in the movie, because Sasha Baron Cohen is an Orthodox Jew.
So that's where those crotchie shorts came from.

My request has been answered ! Diafana Krina.
Play some "Trypes" as well.
Regards,
Evros
Hmm, if pressed, I would have to agree that the odd one of the tracks played here meet my definition of "tripe" - but not many!
Asking Bill to play aforesaid category, however, is asking for trouble, as my Mum would have said.

Yes, it is reminiscent of Hank Marvin's sound.
Funny. But the piece is very likeable!

What's wrong with a marching band going down the street? I was a drummer in a very good marching band in high school.

With a splash of spaghetti Western pomp and circumstance...

Yeah.
Exactly.

"The round of the day in 80 worlds"
I wish all of you "MERRY CHRISTMAS",
wherever you are - whoever you wanna be!
Christmas is a sweet-naive tradition -
not a religious event!
I like it anyway!
Still - I hope Bill takes the chance
to rock the christmas-tree to pieces tonight!
"Happy Christmas
your "BAD SANTA",

Sermon of the day (promise: I'm serious):
The "Three Wise Men" - Melchior, Balthasar + Caspar
are buried in a golden sarcophage in"our" dome, the famous
"Cologne dome" - the third highest church-building
in the world - right in the very centre of town, next to the Rhine.
A gothic building of extra-class!

Non of that soppy love song stuff, just music.
You know it! Bill really needs some Friends of Dean Martinez. It always suprises me that he has none, considering the Calexico he plays, and Joey Burns' early work with FoDM.
diafana krina on RP?? Brilliant! loved your pronunciation Bill :)
Ta spas!!!
My deepest admiration to the Greek people right now... I wish you don't have to "be saved" by anyone and choose not paying an immoral debt
It seems it's immoral because an earlier government lied about its financial situation - which made for low cost loans initially. When the truth came out, the rates were adjusted for for a country with its truer economic health. Debts were called and refinanced - and now all the people who borrowed more than they could realistically afford, at the adjusted rates, have been left with the bill.
Probably...
however if you pay attention to the sound and playing of the guitar you will see that it is inspired by the new-age-bouzouki dominated era of the 60's-70's in Greece

Cool, I wish I knew that particular style... cheers!
Great comment.
From https://www.cozyrocket.com/category/surf-music:
Dick Dale's rendition of Misirlou actually has its roots in Greek and Middle Eastern Music, according to the Fender Players Club:
"Misirlou" has unusual origins for a seminal piece in American rock. Its roots are in Middle Eastern music, and it was a 1940s pop hit in Turkey (and a Greek folk dance) two decades before Dick revived and reinvented the piece in 1962 - when he gave it a high energy twist by performing it on electric guitar with his band, the Del-Tones.
And FWIW, Richard Monsour (aka Dick Dale) is himself of Mediterranean (Lebanese) descent.
That is so cool—-1962——a year for great inventions.

and that's one of the reasons why I like this tune so much :) ( I like this one emoticon)

The song was first performed by the Michalis Patrino rebetiko band in Athens, Greece in 1927
Misirlou = Egyptian Girl
Must.....KILL BILL
Yeah, very funny dude. Except that the band is actually from Greece, which was the only point our Greek friend was making.
So what shall I call you to score extra points? Todd? Jack? Birdbrain?
May I suggest...
