She arrives like a limo
smooth and moving
on the prowl through the crowd
to the beat of the city
she glows in the dark
wherever she parks
concrete crumbles and the night rumbles
Big electric cat
She dances through the street
like the flame of a fire
everybody's hypnotized
everybody perspires
even little children cry
grown men shout
the dogs bark
the lights go out
Big electric cat

Big electric cat

Awesomeness!
Oh the early 1980s were ... something else. A strange time after the emergence of punk rock and the death of disco, but before the ascent of Phil Collins' gated reverb and omnipresence of digital sampling.
There are only TWO TUNES by him on the RP playlist. PLEASE ADD MORE! Thank You.

I may be the only one to deliver a ten. Geez, this is so awesome!

Leider sehr anstrengend!
Nobody knows. But, I do! and I'm not telling.
not everyone's cup of tea, but I have long admired AB. Talking Heads, Bowie, King Crimson.... innovative and talented musician. Especially like his tune "The Mormur" off this album. Later tunes such as "Fly" and "Eyes Wide Open" are also stand-outs to me too
This is the Japanese reissue of Adrian's first two albums on one CD. I should know because I bought this CD and sent it to Bill to put in the RP collection!
I love Adrian Belew and have seen in concert in various forms over thirty times!

He does have better songs, keep them coming . If curious, check out the King Crimson catalog. Discipline is a good place to start. He's amazing, and I was fortunate to see him in concert at a lovely small venue (Mountain Winery, Saratoga, CA). Check him out if you get a chance!

Too experimental for my tastes, I'm afraid.
Saw Adrian when he was playing with Bowie at Foxboro Stadium in the 90's. A great experience in a crappy venue. I luckily had SRO tix near the soundboard.
Dont like the echoish effect of the voice at the begining

Whoa, low rating, –come on folks, up the love for the Twang Bar King!
I'll take a prog-drenched Adrian Belew track over a meandering Peter Gabriel one any day.

Way cool!!!
I have loved this album and this song since college. Showcases Belew's innovative guitar playing with an irresistible groove. Awesome!
did you ever find that other microdot
Never heard this before.
And color me impressed. Very innovative and different. Just how I like my music.

Natalie Merchant fans just can't take it.
I have never heard this prior to this moment, but knew instantly who is torturing the guitar. Like some of his other work, an excuse to do the sort of wierdness only he manages.
Definitely gets the WTF vote!

This is one of those songs you kinda need to hear with the context of Adrian Belew's career in mind. Maybe not a particular wonderful song all by itself, but really, really interesting guitar and driving primitive beat. And, it ties so well in with Belew's eclectic career.
Always one of my fave Adrian tunes, crankin it up!
It is fun to watch Adrian play this.
Oh YESSSSS!!! Classic. Look forward to seeing him live this Fall - going to be in my hometown!
Yeah, very interesting. Once was enough. Big electric scat.
Sounds like he's saying "wiggle if you can"

Wow a blast from the experimental 80's. Not the best example, I don't think, of this guitar master.
Yummy
Love this early Belew! Now if we could just get the BEARS! album on here.
Never heard this before.
Shan't be disappointed if I never hear it again.

This belongs on Dr. Demento. What's next Bill, Weird Al's "It's all about the Pentiums?"
Wild Cats of Kilkenny by The Pogues please!
man, i generally enjoy adrian belew but yowsa this is something else.
Adrian Belew has much better songs than this Bill.......
Great memories of this song ... I seem to remember wearing out the grooves to Graham Parker around this time, too. Of course, that was a very long time ago.
Anyone else hear Biko?
This sucks worse than the one before it.

thanks for this 80s slice of tastiness
2 - brilliant yet unpleasant.
This is weak! Please stop the pain
reminds me of what it sounded like in my head at a party once after someone slipped acid in my drink (in college)
Annoying and it Sucks TOO!

Wow, two 1's in a row. At least Bill has a sense of humor!
Looking at the dates on the comments, has it been 2+ years since this was played? This tune is not bad, I prefer another album, Mr Music Head.
This is rather painful.
....Um, sorta like David Byrne without the eccentric charm?
small hybrid kitten
Trying verrryyyy hard to be open minded....
...wow!..i have never heard adrian belew on the radio before, other than as a session musician - shades of love and rockets in this track...

The is one of the great guitar songs ever written...on a level with Hendrix. Belew is the best living guitarist in the ProgRock tradition. He even outshines Fripp. 10

Did someone slip me a tab of orange sunshine in my doughnut this morning? I can feel the colors, man...
I seem to be odd in sitting on the fence on this one. I actually got Twang Bar King but have to be in a very odd mood to put it on.... or be on something very odd
Now I realize the inspiration for the band named 'Big Electric Cat'...
either a 1 or a 10, still deciding....
Is he saying "big electric cat"...?
Oh, yes he is.

always loved this song. awesome to hear it played at my favorite music listenting place.
Nice segue from the Afro Celt piece - excellent use of theme, RP.
Then again, given my name, I kinda have to like it you know.
The fact that this made the cut is one of those wonderful small miracles in life.
I love Kit-Kats too!
and then, they started chanting ...
Ow! Ow!! Stop that! Pain!
Excellent!! I'm sooo happy that RP is playing Adrian. Just another reason why
this Internet station is the best.

Thrills me that this song made the cut. This guy's playing is like, supernatural.
Weird and wonderful. I saw him play with Bowie too back in the 90's, very talented guy.
