A twinkle in my eye can make you shudder
A "How long has it been?" can make you tense
You know I'm always glad to be another
And I like to keep you in suspense
And i tried to tell you this all along
I hope you're listening, I really do
You never saw anything was wrong
You only did what you had to do

(Chorus)
Close your eyes, we are buildings--
We're so amazing!
Close your eyes, we are movement--
We're awe-inspiring!
Dreams left in shadows
Dreams left alone

A smile that will start to make you nervous
A gesture that will start your heart to race
A feeling when you find yourself left breathless
By a step you're destined to retrace
But I tried to tell you this all along
I hope you're laughing, I really do

Chorus x 2

This is yet another song that got me hooked on RP... It's gems like this that throw me for a loop when I hear them on Muzak!

8 for "dreams left in Shadow"
I actually prefer the original group and version-October Project, and both of their albums are frankly amazing.

One of my favorite doppleposts.
Good melody. Lyrics are a little weak.
Sarah Mclachlan 'paint by numbers'...

nice tune, but others do it better
Amazing what a good hook will do for a song. One hit wonder?
Good to hear this is still in rotation, BillG. Got the album years ago when this first appeared and it's still good. GEG hasn't exactly taken off, but still like this one.

FOR ME A 10

Holy mierda, Stingray likes something! Now we know what the taste buds respond to.
Gotta say, imho, I'm not too impressed. Haven't we heard these arrangements and production from earlier acts?  Nice voice, though.
When I first heard the singer I thought......"Sarah Mclachlan?"  But that might just be me.....  not necessarily a bad comparison, by the way.
And I am hearing Vienna Teng.

I see that Jennifer Nobel retired from Grey Eye Glances a few years ago. What's the new singer like?

Dear Duality,

Not our fault you chose to base judgement on only one of our songs. Perhaps you should drink more coffee. Or quit your whining and do your job, as hundreds of thousands of other people do daily.

Cheers,
Grey Eye Glances

Wow! Not many people ever heard of Animal Logic. Fabulous band!

I think a fair number of the RP crowd know Animal Logic. With the likes of Stewart Copeland and Stanley Clarke, it's the kind of band that would  attract the attention of music lovers like RPers. I'm not sure of her pedigree, but Deborah Holland is a superb vocalist and did most of the writing. Too bad they only made two albums and also too bad they aren't on the RP playlist. If I ever get around to figuring out how to upload songs, Animal Logic will be high on my list.

I tried to upload some Animal Logic to RP a while back. It was denied before the upload started.   ??

Yep, that's totally what I heard when I just tuned in. Sounds like Deborah Holland. Had to google to make sure it wasn't. Good call.

thank you Bill, my curiousity is satisfied. A friend of mine told me it was worth listening.
"close your eyes, we are buildings" - wtf? Nurse! My eardrops, please!!

Nice song, very Tori Amos-like IMO - 8 from the Nottingham jury.

Imogen Heap - Glittering Cloud
Anna Ternheim - Lovers Dream
Beth Orton - Thinking About Tomorrow

Perfect when you're trying to keep your eyes open sitting in front of your PC {#Bananajumprope}.
Sometimes, poppy is good.
This is pop. How much I like it {#Dancingbanana}
This is pop. How boring.
This song gets a bitchy comment purely because the intro was cool and caught my attention, then the real song kicked in and it was bland pop. Just like smooth jazz- start out with 4-8 bars of something real, then devolve into oatmeal. Yech.
Wait ... so this isn't Sarah McLachlan?
This is too "adult contemporary." Please play some Clash to correct the balance.

I never noticed how much I enjoy the bass in this song. Addictive to say the least.
Wow, GEG! Haven't heard them in ages. Thanks, RP!

hey, that was a NICE transition!
I love her voice!

Right, but I expected a completely different kind of voice when the song started and the bassline grew bigger... What a pity, the voice kills the atmosphere of this tune.
Hmmmm ...has potential. The chorus/hook is intoxicating (thanks to the bass line).
What A Voice.

The cowbell is like the red headed step child of instruments... many of us musicians hate it and it reminds us of some horrible 70s rock band... somebody somewhere picked up on this (must have said it in a movie or something) and all of a sudden you have these t-shirts... I'm curious too, even though I get the joke!
The cow bell reference is from a very very funny Saturday Night Live sketch with Christopher Walken portraying a music producer during a recording session... specifically of song "Don't Fear the Reaper" by the Blue Oyster Cult which has a very prominent cowbell part. Will Farrell plays the cow bell part with classic 1970s afro-style hair and his stomach hanging out over his jeans. The infamous line from the skit is "I've gotta' fever baby, and the only cure/perscription is more cow bell!" (Or something to that effect.) It's a favorite of musicians.

Hmmm .. I like the way it deconstructs itself at the end. The song itself just sorta happens and isn't all that special imo.

It's like Suzanne Vega and Paula Cole had a love child that grew up to form a mediocre band.

approx 7months since I last heard this now, cutting down from a year for sure, but still you have to play it more often. (read earlier replies if you didn't get this) Hmm, a 7 seems appropriate.
This I like.

The name Grey Eye Glances comes from a slang-term for "dreams". Saw these guys at our local Barnes and Noble about 7 years ago. They were good and we have several of their CD's from late 90's. I thought they had called it quits but it looks like they're still around.

Actually, it is a reference to Poe, from what I hear...
