Let's go suboceana
To the place where fish sleep
Down, deep, down under
And rock with the Dream King
He says
Trust me, just trust me
I live in your mind
I'll be your dream master
All of us know this
We're going inside
This is your life after
Boom boom chi boom boom
Boom boom chi boom boom
Boom boom chi boom boom
Boom boom chi boom boom
Put your face in my hands now
As the water washes us down
The pressure of your body solid
Making love without a sound
We see
White sheets of light
That prickle the skin
Colors extend
Moving out from within
If this is creation
Let's do it again
Let's stay down under
Way, way, way, down deep
Boom boom chi boom boom
Boom boom chi boom boom
Boom boom chi boom boom
Boom boom chi boom boom
Generations in a picture
Lay their heads down to sleep
Forgetting sin to remember
Way, way, way, down deep
They say
We are your future
From out of your past
We'll be here tomorrow
Pick up the pieces
As fragile as glass
We will hear your sorrow
Babies are born
They accept the bizarre
Moving beyond
Beyond life in a jar
Let's stay down under
Way, way, way, down deep.
To the place where fish sleep
Down, deep, down under
And rock with the Dream King
He says

Not my taste either, but nothing wrong with it.
I think this is a bad song but it's got a good beat and it's easy to dance to so I gave it a 7.

The original tiny 930 or the much larger new one?
I’ve seen over 2000 concerts and shows and I’ve seen the Talking Heads the only two times they played at Red Rocks and I have seen the Tom Tom Club six times in concert. Absolutely one of the very best live bands you will ever see is the Tom Tom Club! One of those six shows was at CBGBs and that was amazing!
Also saw “The Heads” at the NightClub 930 in DC!

This is the first time I've heard this.
Definitely dated but great production.
I could do without the hand claps but... still sounds great!

The truth is, this band within a band was tight as it gets, and had the World Groove rhythms way before anyone else at the time... Jerry Harrison's solo stuff showed it, too. They made grooves with such raw, hip funkiness it still blows my mind, and they were so FUN, too!

This song epitomizes the 2 rating although I'm a little bit torn. The description of 2 is "marginal," which I take to mean "it almost belongs here." While that is pretty far from the truth, I have reserved 1 solely for Kate Bush, so 2 it is.
The lowest I have ever scored anything on RP. Wanted some Dire Straits or Porcupine Tree, got a Cure and Janet Jackson clone.
Disco shit.

What are words worth? Words
Words in papers, words in books
Words on TV, words for crooks
Words of comfort, words of peace
Words to make the fighting cease
Words to tell you what to do
Words are working hard for you
Eat your words but don't go hungry
Words have always nearly hung me

Good old 80s Drum-Machines :D
Its fun to hear every 10 years, but I'd not call it a "good" song :)

Not to be pretentious, but this should be listened to in its historical context. Sure, it sounds a little dated, but at the time it was as cool as it got. (Wow, is that a drum machine?) There was no band mightier in the 80's than the Heads, and Tina was their queen.... and her funky side project was the ultimate thing to be into as a music snob in 81-82, remember?
Kind of like the Herbie Hancock tune where he did the first 'record scratching' turntable thingee. That's why Ken Burns put it on the Jazz CD compilation for his documentary. Nothing special now, but at the time.... it made history.
I beleive that talking heads and Tom Tom are dated as ever. Actually the passagge of time will bring them back into more perspective.
(pimp)
OMG make it stop!

This Bill's way of fucking with those of us who listen to RP at work, when we leave our desks.
That's exactly what just happened to me...and I miss TTC! D'oh! Well, I made it an 8.
The synth percussion/fake clap noise sure keeps it stuck in the 80s...I liked it back then, but it doesn't seem very timeless now.
how in the life con some one give a 9 to this song?

Nice to hear something from the Tom Tom Club other than "Gangster of Love." This is pretty good.
I think you mean "Genius of Love". It is nice to hear something other than that though.
It is funny before reading who was playing I said to myself " this sound in between Talking Heads and Chic"...I like Tom Tom Club..so refreshing..makes you feel like party and party..

Awesome! You never hear Tom Tom Club anymore. Thanks for including this in the mix!

When was this released?

When I think Tom Tom club, I think Tina Weymouth, therefore I want to like it for little more reason than I enjoyed watching her up there plugging away looking cute an unassuming behind Byrne's antics in the Talking Heads. But there really isn't much going on in this song is there?
This is a different mix of this song than I usually hear; not quite as driving, but still acceptable.
Nice groove, deserves better than it's current 4.1 rating for sure.
never heard this one before...
pretty nice considering....
When was this released?

OUCH! Hit my head against the monitor moving to the groove. To revive a comment from Dog_Breath below - it's not horrible. I'd give it a 4 too (and I did).
This is pretty good, but there are better Tom Tom Club tracks on their first album.
Why, Bill?
My God. What is wrong with RP tonight? This is terrible.
Bring on Blondie next and we have viva la New York. :D
...Sounds a little dated (stale)

I remember those reviews….
