Sharing with us what he knows
His shining eyes are big and blue
And all around him water flows
This world to him is new
This world to him is new

To touch a face
To kiss a smile
And new eyes see no race
The essence of a child.....the essence

Chorus:
He's born to shimmer
He's born to shine
He's born to radiate
He's born to live
He's born to love
But we will teach him how to hate

And true love it is a rock
Smoothed over by a stream
And no tickin of a clock
Truly measures what thet means
Truly measures what that means

And this thing called our time
I heard a brilliant woman say
She said "you know it's crazy
How I want to try to capture mine"
I think I love this woman's way
I think I love this woman

The way she shimmers
The way she shines
The way she radiates
The way she lives
The way she loves
The way she never hates

Sometimes I think of all this that surrounds me
I know it all as being mine
But she kisses me and she wraps herself around me
She gives me love
She gives me time
And I feel fine

But time I cannot change
So here's to looking back
You know I drink a whole bottle
Of my pride
And I toast to change
To keep these demons off my back
Just get these demons off my back

Cause I
Want to shimmer
I want to shine
I want to radiate
I want to live
I want to love
I want to try and learn how not to hate
Try not to hate

We're born to shimmer,
We're born to shine,
We're born to radiate,
We're born to live,we?re born to love
We're born to never hate

He's born to shimmer
He's born to shine
He's born to radiate
He's born to live
He's born to love
But we will teach him..

"I was chopin' broccoli"
I'll offer a contrarian view — I rather like this!

Not bad.  But buddies of mine were writing better songs in high school.
Geez, why not submit some of your own original work guys ?
I like it!  Kind of surprised by the 5.9 rating.

A very excellent song... for me to poop on.
So...I\'m 30 years-old...and I love \"Dawson\'s Creek\"...so what\'s wrong with that? So? So? SO? :)
Shawn Mullins is total garbage. I can tell what he\'s going for but he could only be an embarrassing attempt to emulate his mentors. This is truly a callow, pathetic and embarrassing attempt to evoke any sort of real feeling. please stop.
As much as I\'d like to hate this song, I just can\'t. I dig it. Almost as much as the comments from the people that hate it- funny stuff
Please pardon me while I gargle razor blades and chant in Aramaic in some vain attempt to cleanse the world of this evil.
great song!!!!
dessert topping...
of what is this you speak human?

Vaguely reminiscent of having a fork scraped across one's molars. And about as melodic.

ROTFLMAO one of my favorite comedy references...and apropriate...
I can\'t help but to turn this up and sing in my office!
Love this version of his song... I\'m very strongly motivated to buy his stuff... especially acustical stuff.
This one isn\'t yet a reason to be convinced, but at least made me curious \'bout other music he has made.
This song is just bland. Reminds me of Dan Hill. I don't like to be reminded of Dan Hill.
Good message and with only accoustic guitar it communicates more personally. The Jake likes it! :)
Good storyteller and folk rock artist. I saw him at an RSL in Australia and he and his band were really good. He seems to be more popular over there than he is in the U.S.
Really good version of this song. This CD is hard to find, released by an Athens GA radio station, has some really good live/unplugged artists/tunes on it including Guadalcanal Diary, Kevn Kinney and a surreal REM Country Feedback that RP sometimes plays.
Draws you in and takes you somewhere. Nice to listen to.
