Look at the replay....and it's a comedy of errors. I guess I'd blame the 3rd base coach more than I did last night.... he needs to be waiving him home the moment the ball gets away from Stott (2nd base - Phils).
It was 100% on the 3B coach. Single up the middle behind him, his job is to put his head down and run and pick up the coach before heading home. Most of the time baserunners know what the situation is but that scenario is why they have a 3B coach. Maybe Gilbert knew the ball got through but the coach puts up the stop sign, maybe it didn't go as far as he thought. Maybe the OF came in hard and made a good throw... the runner can't know.
Yeah that's Drew Gilbert. He's got a little of that Penguin style. I think he didn't know the ball went into the outfield either so he wasn't planning on going home. I just have to wonder what Borg was looking at because even if he lost sight of the ball, the players made it clear it got through.

The Phillies announcers were joking "was he worried about losing his helmet" the way he ran to 3rd.
I'd have sent him, but the runner looked like he'd never played baseball before. He ran straight at the bag with a 90 degree turn left.
IMO....SF lost because they pitched to a guy who was 3 for 3 (4 for 5 for the day) with 2 outs in the 9th. I would not have let Schwarber see a pitch with a guy on 3rd. The way his day was going, they're lucky he didn't beat them then.

Phils were down 1 run in the 9th twice today... and won 'em both. Sorry to see the Giants leave town.
I was looking at some highlights from those games and got confused because they were wearing the light blue "throwback" uniforms in the first game and their current uniforms in the second game. I thought they were from different days.

Yes, it was shoulder inflammation and nothing extremely bad. We can only hope. Now they just need to fire Breslow.
That second game better get some people fired. Lookin' at you, 3B Coach Hector Borg. The Giants announcers were LIT UP that we managed to avoid scoring.

The Giants are now in last place in the NL West (yes behind the Rockies) after being walked off twice in one day. By one of the few teams with an even worse record.
