Christmas get together cancelled? Because of the predicted rain and thunderstorms? Ouch...how bad are the predictions?
I hear so many pros and cons for solar power (more cons than pros) that I stay away.
Not a good idea to be on the water with lightning around, not to mention the wind. And not a lot of fun to be having a barbie. The wind doesn't usually bother me too much because the reservoir is small and I paddle a sea kayak, but it doesn't go well for the people in tippy racing kayaks.
We got about 30 mm rain with much of it going sideways. That's a lot for here.
Australia is moving away from gas to all electric. Which is a bit weird because we still burn a lot of coal, which is worse. I don't see any cons for rooftop solar except the occasional fire when someone lets leaves build up over the panels and then lets the panels overheat. Still need to do more research on the best battery systems. One thing for sure, not Tesla. Aside from the CEO being a wanker, they are screwing customers by stopping support for the earlier generation of systems.
Congrats. Right now I'm waiting for predicted rain and thunderstorms. Kayak club paddle and Christmas get together is cancelled.
Last storm took my power out for 5 hours. I really need to get my act together to get a solar system and battery, while there is still a government rebate program. Got solar for the last house under an early adopter program where there was a decent feed-in rate and never paid an electric bill again.

Nope theyâre running on Russian LNG supporting the war effort.
Through 75 resellers, unfortunately.
The war effort is your endeavour, isn't it.
Shoving IT back and forth always has been the greatest killer of civilisations.
Sorry to hear that. My power went off, came back on, went back off and came back on multiple times yesterday. I lucked out since it was no more than five minutes at a time. The wind was blowing the rain sideways almost like a hurricane force around 50+ mph.
Iâve been researching portable power for some time and itâs down to 2 units. Ecoflow Delta 3 Max and Oupes Exodus 2400 both around 2400 wh. When on a good sale around $650-$749. They can also be used as a UPS function.
Stay warm and dry. Hope it come on sooner than the estimated time.
This started last evening, rain and wind gusts reaching 90kmh+ (55mph+)
I'm surprised power didn't go out earlier. I've never bothered looking into getting a power generator. I have friends and relatives who swear by it but...meh. In the 31 years we've lived at this current place, it would have come in handy only once. We can live without power for a while. It's really not a necessity for us.
We live in town and the businesses need the power more than we do so the power usually comes back on before the expected time. Although this time around they first said 2PM then changed it to 6PM. Here's hoping. ð¤

Shit. This is not acceptable. Even when capitalism (which we've supported with every one of our breaths) reigns.
This should be a different kind of shit. Not our shit.
Hell no.

Warming up by the fireplace. Power out 3.5 hrs now, not due back for another 5.5 hrs. Outside temperature holding steady at the freezing mark. Clear with high winds.

Excellent. Had mine done 11 years ago and have had 20-20 vision ever since and don't even need cheaters to read tiny print. Today, at almost 73. I can see better than I could when I was 12. I hope yours turns out as well.
Impressive. I've had 20/400 since I was 15. Wore contacts for over thirty years, until I got two corneal infections in a year and went to tri-focals.
Yikes, sorry to see that, D. This getting old crap is not easy, for sure.
