Pouring through and trying to understand three years' worth of texts and docs regarding the recent history of this place I started working at. Kinda interesting, but the current state of the art is a bit off track from their initial intent. I think that's my job to re-steer things a bit, but the new guy needs to keep his trap shut for a bit.

Looking for the cheapest tickets to fly to Florida for my cousins unexpected funeral this week. And I told her last week I was looking forwards to a family visit on Thanksgiving.

She fell and broke her pelvis in 3 places and it just deteriorated from there in less than a week. She just lost her husband 2 weeks ago from a year and a half battle with esophageal cancer. The family is just devastated. I think she missed loosing her husband and just gave up with a broken heart.

Was a tough week with my programming Final on Tuesday, and then a 19 year old kid at work died from a "heart attack" at home on Wednesday, and then this on Friday.

Sorry to hear, Gene.

Take care.

The next 15 months will be hard. I'm lining my happy place with bubble wrap.

I want to think "just vote; that's all you can do" but that personifies the idea that we're insignificant.

In a society where discussion generates thought and can change minds, then having those discussions is incredibly important. Society doesn't change because someone at the top tells it to; it changes based on the trends by the middle and lower groups. That's where the "where do we go next" convos should be happening. If they could, in coffee shops and college campuses and hair salons and barbershops and soccer fields and bowling alleys.

Of course, right now, it appears that people are unable - literally - to have a mind-changing conversation.

People are barely able to have a conversation at all with people of a different tribe.  I'm guilty here too - there are people I've given up on.   In the larger sense, we are insignificant. To mix a few metaphors and memes, we are but snowflakes on the hill. The snowball is rolling, it's going to go to the bottom, I hope to not be in the way.
