On the mountain, there's a forest
In the forest, there's a garden
In the forest, there's a garden
In the forest, there's a garden
In the forest, there's a garden
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
In the garden, there's a flower
In the garden, there's a flower
In the garden, there's a flower
In the garden, there's a flower
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to pluck it, got to pluck it
Got to pluck it, got to pluck it
In the flower, there's a nectar
In the flower, there's a nectar
In the flower, there's a nectar
In the flower, there's a nectar
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to taste it, I got to taste it
Got to taste it, got to taste it
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to taste it, I got to taste it
I got to taste it, got to taste it
In the nectar, there's an answer
In the nectar, there's an answer
In the nectar, there's an answer
In the nectar, there's an answer
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to know it, got to know it
Got to know it, got to know it
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to know it, got to know it
I got to know it, got to know it
In the answer, there's another
In the answer, there's another
And another, and another
And another, and another
Slow down, slow down
Slow down, slow down
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Slow down, slow down
Slow down, slow down
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Oh
In the ocean, there's a mountain
On the mountain, there's a forest
In the forest, there's a garden
In the garden, there's a flower
In the flower, there's a nectar
In the nectar, there's an answer
In that answer, there's another
And another, and another
And another, and another
Gotta get up there, gotta get up there
Gotta get up there, gotta get up there
Gotta get up there, gotta get up there
Gotta get up there, gotta get up there
Like it or not, I'm coming up the mountain
Like it or not, I'm coming up the mountain
Like it or not, I'm coming up the mountain
Like it or not, I'm coming up the mountain
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry
Good advice
Right there with you
Funny, I'm the exact opposite. Welp, different strokes.
wow, this is torture for my ears (as is every Regina Spektor song that I've heard)
Right there with you
Then hit the next button instead of tomenting yourself
Good advice!

Bloody awful
You sir have no taste
Haters STFU and hit fast forward. Fuck you for wanting to yuck our yum… Wasted souls.
I wish they would too, love regina
I guess we'll never be friends; we obviously have nothing musical in common.
(and music is everything)
Well, probably not nothing, but certainly this.
I feel like she's seducing me..

The more I hear it, the more I like it! And I liked it a lot from first listen!
That's exactly how I feel about it. It takes time to get into it, but definitely repays attention.
Man, I dig Regina's take on the world...really interesting imagery in all her music...a pretty unique voice in a sea of autotuned crap...
Agreed. I'm getting a bit obsessed and have to stop and listen when hear her voice.
Well this is kinda hot.
It's totally hot!
Regina Spektor was born and lived in the crumbling USSR until the age of 9, just a few years before the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Union collapsed.
A cold war Moscow childhood, followed soon thereafter by adolescence in post cold war 1990's USA.
Think about it.
or not.
whatever.
Amazing song, Mrs Spektor! Eight Points from a curious bee in France. Cause in the there's a nectar...
Love it.
Hell yeah, I'm OK. Like it or not I'm comin' up the mountain. Extra warning if you follow it with Heavy Balloon by Fiona Apple and start shouting about how you spread like strawberries and rise like peas and beans it doesn't make things better in the eyes of observers. But I feel like both seem like anthems for those of us who sometimes trend toward the darkness. Very uplifting.
If you don't get it, skip it, but you're losing out on something.

Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry.
Agree. My whole family starts making fun of this song whenever it comes on. Can't get to the skip button fast enough.
I like your take on this mark: A bee's eye view of the global project to reduce things to monoculture--hence, I guess, the hurry.
Some things I don't quite get though:
1) Why pluck? Bees don't pluck, they leave the flower intact. So is Regina juxtaposing the bees' sustainable way of doing things with the practices of the global monoculture system?
2) Who is coming up the mountain? Again, I guess that it's that global monoculture corp, because the next line is: "Hurry, hurry..."
3) The ocean? As in: "In the ocean, there's a mountain, on the mountain, there's a forest." I won't even try to figure this image out. Anyone care to comment?
Actually, I think she was just tripping when she wrote it. Think about it...
There is no answer in the nectar...
If you are a bee, sure there is
There is no answer in the nectar...
I absolutely love this! But what is it?
A bee's eye view of the rut of global mono-culture?
A lesson on the result of seeking only the godhead?
A 'hard check' on my motives and aspirations?
I liked it the first time I heard it.
This is 2x and I like it more
I like that her upper register voice fits the persona of a small creature.
I like that it gives me pause.

So I decree.
Very nice.

I came here after finding myself cranking up the volume. This is super weird and super cool.
I'm now thinking I need to explore her music a lot more. Thanks BillG!

I agree. She grows on me more every time I hear her.
Update four months later: so does this song! And I don't know why!
Date seems odd, a bit into future.
Released: 2022-06-23
Advance singles often predate the album release...pretty standard industry stuff....not the time machine you imagined
