If the original was art, this is history... both are compelling.
Egad...
Bear in mind, I'm a major PF fan. Had most of their discography (until it got stolen).
But listening to this shows why PF used so much visuals in their act.
Honestly, they're not much of a live band....
Production is so-so and the singing is awful (they seem not being able to hear themselves).
I'll also stick to the studio albums....

I actually prefer the studio version.
Just saw Roger Waters in concert...he did mostly Pink Floyd hits (from Meddle, Dark Side Of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall) with some really great visual effects and a couple live acting pieces. I highly recommend it to any Pink Floyd fan out there. Roger Water's concert is the closest you will ever get to a real Pink Floyd concert with one of the original members.

That was an excellent version, I too have never heard before.
Any live version rarely equals the studio original. This one does not. The many intricacies of the studio are impossible to exactly reproduce, but I'm sure the mystique of the live experience was thrilling nonetheless. It's hard to step too hard on one of the greatest records ever made.

All the genius composition and musicianship of the recorded version - and much, much less. At least it's just like being there live - oh, wait a minute, it's actually nothing like that, either. I guess the boys couldn't hear themselves sing, cause even that's not much to cheer about. All told, a waste of several minutes, apart from the female vocals. IMHO, of course. pxd

The result is that over time, what we heard as quite unique now feels quite familiar. Best thing to do is probably what they did and package a few versions of the old material up so we can get a sense of both the complexity and the difficulty of reproducing such truly amazing studio energy.

Love this Live Immersion Box version. A refreshing change. Thanks Bill and Rebecca! Just now listening to "On the Run" being performed completely LIVE with the synthesizers of the time. Pink Floyd were true pioneers in this area.

I first heard this album in 1973 while tripping on magic mushrooms at a beach in North Queensland. Never eaten magic mushies since, but the album still does it for me.
One of those songs that really gets me, roots me to the spot, makes me remember every time I've ever heard it, inducing the current of Life to surge through me like some kind of Quantum Entanglement coming from the Core of Everything via my freaking speakers...

I guess the boys couldn't hear themselves sing, cause even that's not much to cheer about. All told, a waste of several minutes, apart from the female vocals. IMHO, of course. pxd
