The looking glass, so shiny and new
How quickly the glamour fades
I start spinning, slipping out of time
Was that the wrong pill to take? (Raise it up)

You made a deal, and now it seems you have to offer all
But will it ever be enough? (Raise it up, raise it up)
It's not enough (Raise it up, raise it up)

Here I am, a rabbit hearted girl
Frozen in the headlights
It seems I've made the final sacrifice

We raise it up, this offering
We raise it up

This is a gift, it comes with a price
Who is the lamb and who is the knife?
Midas is king and he holds me so tight
And turns me to gold in the sunlight

I look around, but I can't find you (raise it up)
If only I could see your face (raise it up)
I start rushing towards the skyline (raise it up)
I wish that I could just be brave

I must become a lion hearted girl
Ready for a fight
Before I make the final sacrifice

We raise it up, this offering
We raise it up

This is a gift, it comes with a price
Who is the lamb and who is the knife?
Midas is king and he holds me so tight
And turns me to gold in the sunlight

Raise it up, raise it up
Raise it up, raise it up

And in the spring I shed my skin
And it blows away with the changing wind
The waters turn from blue to red
As towards the sky I offer it

This is a gift, it comes with a price
Who is the lamb and who is the knife?
Midas is king and he holds me so tight
And turns me to gold in the sunlight

This is a gift, it comes with a price
Who is the lamb and who is the knife?
Midas is king and he holds me so tight
And turns me to gold in the sunlight

This is a gift, it comes with a price
Who is the lamb and who is the knife?
Midas is king and he holds me so tight
And turns me to gold in the sunlight

This is a gift

miss you so much, Cynaera...

everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches be dancing buck ass naked all over the world like bowlegged gypsy muleskinners...  love this song...  love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...

I love Florence, I love her revivalist choir sound but I won't say insulting things if you don't like her.

It's a pretty good tune - I like the production, especially the drum sound.  Most of this band's stuff doesn't do much for me, but I suppose I respect their enthusiasm.

Well there you go cause that's what I thought she did on the 2nd and I don't even own that.  Guess my boat floats in different waters.

I don't really "get" this band... just sounds like a lot of drama to me

A very nice song which is great to be listened in the morning :)
If I close my eyes and let the music flow, every once in while I hear a few notes from Anne Lennox..
I love Anne and want here to have my child... Sadly Florence has turned me down..

Holds us so tight...
I'm not a morbid person by any stretch of the imagination, but I do have a "my funeral" mix on my iPod.... this is one of the songs on it! {#Cheers}

+1  It definitely grows on you over time, and has much better legs than most of her other stuff...

You certainly jump to conclusions. I don't consider this band mainstream and there are plenty of "popular" bands that I really like. I bought this CD after another song was played on RP and found it uninspired. Did your skinny jeans remark, which is funny, come from personal experience?

I was actually trying to back you up in getting on the OTHER person's case for disliking them because of their mainstream success (i.e. the comment was directed at them on top of yours).

Hello RP-Listeners!

I wish all of you "MERRY CHRISTMAS",
wherever you are - whoever you wanna be!

Christmas is a sweet-naive tradition -
not a religious event!

I like it anyway!

Still - I hope Bill takes the chance
to rock the christmas-tree to pieces tonight!

"Happy Christmas
your "BAD SANTA",
aka STINGRAY
-from Cologne/Germany-
PS
Sermon of the day (promise: I'm serious):

The "Three Wise Men" - Melchior, Balthasar + Caspar
are buried in a golden sarcophage in"our" dome, the famous
"Cologne dome" - the third highest church-building
in the world - right in the very centre of town, next to the Rhine.
A gothic building of extra-class!

Flo is nice.  Turn down the machine.
Love this song!
Heh!  To me it was Natalie Merchant meets Delores O'Riordan

Now this I dig!
Someone please upload "Cosmic Love." It's my favorite song of 2010. And believe you, I never ever ever thought I'd say that... much less enjoy this gothy angst thing happening with Florence + The Machine (See also: the Twilightening of America).
This entire album is awesome.

These guys are great, and she's got some serious soul. Thanks for playing them Bill.

Those would be my suggestions.  Or you could run down the street screaming "DO YOU HAVE FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE?" at people until you find someone who can help you.  Whatever works for ya.

I like your suggestions! I can delete a couple of my Pandora stations (they were only experiments, anyway!) and plant a Florence seed. Concerts are out of the question - I can barely pay my stupid car insurance.  BUT - I have a friend who's been a radio music programmer for 35 years, and I bet he'd jump at the chance to get some of this music on the radio.  I'll give it a shot...

BTW - she sounds like a more aggressive Sarah McLaughlin, with possibly a bit of Heather Nova and the power of Rhea's Obsession. JMO.

Seems that your high school teacher really got into your head with this. Is it a coincidence your RP handle is "Mandible"?

Again......Back to the diner with you Flo!

Kinda shrieky, for like, too long. Like, totally.  Dude.
Not bad, I would give it a 6.5
I like it more every time I hear it. Enough so that I just logged in to comment and give it a rating :)
 I like this a lot.
Groovy and beautiful at the same time!

She's deffo flavour of the moment in UK.   A tad overrated imho, slightly lazy style that intermits between drawling and whining, but there is a talent there.

I agree 100 percent. A friend of mine gave this to me last year. I can't remember the song names, but there are 4-5 really good ones on there including this one. Definitely a promising new band.

Saw the video for her new single recently... whoa!  SEXY! And that girl has a set of lungs!

This is the first time I've heard this song... thought it was Imogean Heap ... really like this tune.

Both the guy from Bronsky Beat and Alision Moyet did this kind of stuff, only much better, 15 years ago.

Hopefully they will continue in this direction instead of that brutally bad Girl With One Eye.  An 8 for this one.
