Nice! So say we all!
At 42 seconds, this might be the shortest track in the RP library.
Never expected this here. Or anywhere.

Great, but too short! it just ends after the drums start to get exciting. I was hoping for and entire piece instead of just an intro clip.
Is that all there is?
Existential question.

Agreed, the FTL jump in, free fall, launch, and FTL jump out was jaw dropping and had everything to do with the Galactica 'breaking it's back' and being unfit for more than a handful of jumps afterwards. The old girl gave her all.

One of the best tv shows I've ever experienced. First rate everything.
Nice! Such a good series.

It may have been due to airing half seasons. It was a great show, but my patience wore very thin having to wait months to see the rest of the season. (Any why I haven't bought the box sets since they're also sold in half seasons.)
The New Caprica rescue is one of the top space battle scenes to date.

I'm old enough to remember the original series when Starbuck was Face, eggs benedict?
Thank you for playing this one - just perfect for monday morning at work :)
Always catches me off-guard hearing this here. For some reason this one reminds me of the Twin Peaks theme...I guess just the general atmosphere of it. Oddly, I've heard that piece played on RP as well.
Too short for PSD.
More from Bear McCreary, PLEASE! Maybe some of the longer pieces from Season 3 or 4 soundtracks.
Love how they used the Gayatri Mantra in the beginning, and then molded the overarching show theme around it.
I always liked this song, I do wish there were an extended cut though, it's just a bit to short, betraying it's intro-credits purpose.
Where's the 11's? ;)
Still an utterly fantastic theme.

I... uh... well, Bill, you've surprised me once again. In a good way, though!
I thought the music was every bit as great as the series. Thanks for playing that!! Too cool.
Nice interlude. Makes me want to go fire up Netflix instead of working.

Was never meant to be anything more than a title and preview bed. The main theme from "The Plan", titled "Apocalypse" fleshes (so to speak) the theme out slightly more but not significantly. Basically, Bear and the BSG Orchestra combine fragments of the original main title sequences with thematic portions from his reimagining of "All Along the Watchtower", interesting, but still not a real deep treatment of the theme.
All in all, it's similar to the Doctor Who theme in that there's just not that much original material to work with and you'd be caught composing if wanting to extend the piece much.
Frack! that was weird. It's actually that short huh? Good way to end the Teng->Beethoven suicide section. Suicide is painless would have been truly amusing.

Damn that was short & abrupt! I liked it, but don't watch that show so it wasn't familiar — to me it sounded just like Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance.

Short but sweet. For an intro piece, it's nicely orchestrated.
Yes!

glad it was short -- I thought someone turned on the tv.
I love BSG, but my first reaction was "this does not belong on RP, it sounds like a comercial on the scifi channer"
Wow, this song is coo......oh, wait. It's over.
Amazingly wonderful. No doubt my reaction is very much influenced by my love for the TV series, but it's still a real reaction.
I just wish it was a full-length piece. It's far too short.
Uh hey that sounds just like...
...oh OK.
Hey where did it go?
Bear Rocks!!!
Now back to playing my MMOPG Eve Onine

Masterfully done. On a par with Howard Shore's LOTR music.

I'd upload the version I have, except it's at a 112 and not at 256 (the minimum "rate" for RP uploads).
Thanks for the BG theme. It's really a nice, wide-ranging piece... we just got the first disc of the original BG last night in the mail, and it's neat to hear which musical cues/themes carried over from the original to the 2003 reincarnation.
Love the series, but, taken out of context, this isn't really special.
I did an aural double take.. Galactica? Yes indeed. Unfortunately its so frackin short.

Good sci-fi has always been about having relevant political allegory underlying the lazercatspewpewpew action. The 3rd season of BSG has that in spades.

well, we have a thread for this kind of discussion, but quite frankly, the old galactica blows, on a par with how the Batman TV show blows, sacrificing good 'genre' storytelling to the alter of mass-cornyism. The new one is a masterpiece of modern naturalistic Sci Fi however.
In the mid-'90s, the original Batman TV show was on in reruns. All the biff-pow action was hilariously bad, which is what made it enjoyable; I could still watch the animated series if I wanted "serious" Batman.
As much as I hate to admit it, loving it as I do, I'm sure the new incarnation of BSG will look dated in 30 years. We'll all be "ugh, this drama is just nauseatingly thick... FIND EARTH ALREADY!!!" on some 3-D RadioParadise of the Future. Wearing our shiny aluminum jumpsuits, of course.
haaaa -- i'm sitting here, coding away, not really paying attention to the music, and suddenly, inexplicable thoughts of BSG start running through my mind. good to know my subconscious was listening!

I'm the one who uploaded it...wow, I didn't expect it to get approved and played so quickly. Nice to see some other fellow Galactica geeks around here.
I think the tag info got mangled in the upload, though. The full title of this track is "Battlestar Galactica - Main Title" and the album title is "Battlestar Galactica: Season 2."

If you're refering to Common People (played about 20 minutes before this), it's not a spoken word album, but rather a very musical colaboration with the likes of Ben Folds, Joe Jackson, etc. called Has Been

Just doing my duty as the physicsgeniuos of SciFi/Fantasy around here ;) "90% of everything produced in the 1970's is crap" (though it's likely more like 40%).
