I'm in the mood baby, I'm in the mood for love
I'm in the mood baby, I'm in the mood for love
I'm in the mood, I'm in the mood, baby, I'm in the mood for love
I said night time is the right time, to be with the one you love
You know when night come baby, God know, you're so far away
I'm in the mood, I'm in the mood baby, I'm in the mood for love
I'm in the mood, in the mood, baby, in the mood for love
I said yes, my mama told me, to leave that girl alone
But my mama didn't know, God know, girl was puttin' down
I'm in the mood, I'm in the mood baby, in the mood for love
I'm in the mood, I'm in the mood, baby, in the mood for love

I am hardly ever in the mood for JL Hooker.
A really interesting segue from Amadou and Mirriam.
Although I'd been listening to the blues for many years, somehow discovering JLH as a teen redefined the genre for me.
I'm in tha mood!
I'm been workin' all day,
Got home to my momma,
uh oh, no no no, she gone!
Now it the night,
I'm drinkin and feelin tight,
Momma be gone,
It just ain't right;
Well, hey now, what I gonna do?
Heh, Momma gine gone, yeah, she flew;
Well, Looky Here, Momma got a sister
and She's so fine,
Looky here, We got plenty of time,
Yeah, Momma Gone, but Sister's MINE!

Yes, but 20 - 60 minutes to follow through to the logical conclusion. Which is as it should be.
So it takes him 3 or 4 minutes just to say he's horny?

I just can't stand this song. In fact, not fond of any of JLH's music. Still, he was a pioneer of the blues, so I suppose he can live another day. Sorry, all you blues-afficionados. To each his own, right?

Big blues fan, but never felt compelled to listen to Mr. Hooker.

I'm constantly amazed by John Lee! The cat recorded more than 100 albums and was illiterate - How do you like them apples!?

Gawd damn it Bill, do you have to keep playing such awesome tunes? Y'know, some of us do have things to do and can't be hanging around the 'radio' forever. Just one sucky tune will suffice.
JLH, Sonny Boy Williamson and Howling Wolf are my 50s blues favs . . .
Hell yeah.
The duet with Bonnie Rait still sends shivers up my spine.

I am now in the mood...yum. Thanks JLH

Some nasty riffs and you can see how some of today's guitar gods have taken these and turned them into hooks in thier solos

Bonnie Raitt, who performed a version of this song with him, said the same thing in an interview. She called him one of the sexiest men she ever knew.
Funny, that's how I feel about Bonnie!
Boogie on in heaven, we're listening to you via Paradise!
Uh huh, yes.
Masterful...if that's even a word....he's the definition of "soulful" in my book

I remember seeing JLH at the Boom Boom Room in SF about ten years ago. He shuffles out with his 335 on his shoulder and a total FOX on each arm. Viagra would have been redundant. Like gasoline on a fire. Still, a troubling visual.

He's not my type.

Like the song. Anything by John Lee Hooker is automatically cool. But there's something inherently un-cool about a man proclaiming horniness.

Something is telling me you're not breakin Johnny's heart here. And I'm not really sure the rest of us really care either.
You know I've gotten hooked on these stupid emoticons lately.

as some great man once said "Proof that god has a sense of humor: he gave man a penis and a brain but only enough blood to run one at a time."

By there very fact that we are male, our horniness is proclaimed! He is merely stating the obvious!
