Dum bum ba beh
Doo buh dum ba beh beh
Pressure
Pushing down on me
Pressing down on you
No man ask for
Under pressure
That burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets
Mmm ba ba beh
Mmm ba ba beh
Bee de dah
Ee deh da, that's okay
It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming "let me out"
Pray tomorrow
Gets me higher
Pressure on people
People on streets
Deh deh dep
Mmm, mmm
Dah dah dah bah buh
Okay
(Ooh) Chipping around
Kick my brains 'round the floor
These are the days
It never rains, but it pours
Ee do ah buh
Ee dah buh bah bop
Mmm do bop
Beh la
People on streets
Dee dah dee dah deh
People on streets
Dee dah dee dah dee dah dee dah
It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming "let me out"
Pray tomorrow gets me higher, higher, high
Pressure on people
People on streets
Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence, but it don't work
Keep coming up with love, but it's so slashed and torn
Why? Why? Why?
(Love)
Insanity laughs under pressure we're cracking
Can't we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can't we give love that one more chance?
Why can't we give love, give love, give love, give love
Give love, give love, give love, give love?
'Cause love's such an old fashioned
Word and love dares you to care for
The people on the edge (People on streets) of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves

Pressure
a very low point for the Slim White Duke. Not unexpectedly it received more aiplay than all his masterworks combined
Over time I've come to the conclusion we just have different hearing aids
I corrected that now.
At a recent job interview, I was asked if I could perform under pressure.
I said I didn't really know that one, but I was prepared to have a crack at Bohemian Rhapsody.

Sing on David and Freddy.
Pressure? My blood pressure is down to 108/71. Thank the gods for retirement.

Did Coach Lasso hire you on the spot after that zinger?
I read the same page and came to a different conclusion. Seems to me they describe a process where Bowie represented one half ("David took over the song lyrically") of the creation process and Mercury ("the song's primary musical songwriter was Freddie Mercury") the other. Guest vocals would indicate that David just sang the words provided, which is not the case. Bowie was also heavily involved in the mixing of the final song, so production was a part of his role as well.
A more generous interpretation would be that the 5 of them produced the song together with equal credit, which is how they handled the credit (to their credit).
Maybe it is listed as David Bowie (w/Queen) because this version is coming off of the album Best of Bowie and no other motivations need be inferred.
The song was very much a collaboration. Bowie wrote all of the lyrics and had a rough sketch of the melody, which was brought to life by all 5 of them -- and quite beautifully. David and Freddy are 2 of my very favorite vocalists and this is a peak performance by both of them, in my opinion.
As for why it's credited like this, you're pretty much right. Because of how our artist database is set up, I had to choose one or the other, and it did come from a Bowie album...
It's also been an incredibly apropos song for these past couple of years -- and the next few too, no doubt.

"Low" point - punny?
Of course it received more airplay, Queen were MASSIVE back then and Bowie had an incredible back catalogue.
It's a bit of excellent fun, almost a "one-off" - with some stunning soaring vocals.
Bowie constantly re-invented himself, Queen ... not so much.
It's a cast iron classic, mate.
I am old.
Sadly, I still cannot get the terrible terrible "sample" that was made from this song out of my head. I won't even mention the "rappers" name, but he very nearly destroyed this song for me.
Anyway, this is a truly awesome song - it's Queen and Bowie, mixed together, what's not to like?
If on a Queen album, would it be Queen (w/ David Bowie)?
so so so loooove this song.
i also really dig the live version with Annie Lennox
If you've never seen them, check out the rehearsals from that performance. They are adorable!
Always found this to be a bit of a dog's breakfast, both in song making and production. Cocaine decisions.
I sort of agree ... it's a bit of a mess, but on the other hand it's extremely catchy!
How we need this sentiment right now.
When I hear this song my heart makes a little jump, I'm ready for the "Yo VIP, let's kick it". I can't describe the disappointment when I realize it's Bowie instead of Vanilla Ice...
I'm surprised you can't recognize the 1/2 rest in the beat that Vanilla Ice said is in there to make the lawsuit go away...
Do you mean "have never likeD" and "THEIR own opinion"?
Funny, I knew what they meant without you pointing out the errors.
So sad

Thanks for sharing - I wasn't aware of this version!
But everyone has there own opinion.

I said what I said.
But everyone has there own opinion.
Still don't get it, it's just a mishmash of unconnected ideas to me, both musically and lyrically.
Both dead.
Shake my head -
Mmm num ba dah

Ee deh da, that's okay!
It really does seem more apropos today than 1981
I've just done the same!
Me too!!
Is it Vanilla Ice's best piece?
Now, that is a trick question.
I've just done the same!
I said I didn't really know that one, but I was prepared to have a crack at Bohemian Rhapsody.
... The response was the response (in and of itself)
My rating a STRONG 8 -Most Excellent almost 9
It's a 9 at least....that bass line makes this almost a 10.....and DB and FM together....hell with it...it's a 10...Long Live RP!!

Exactly !
David Bowie — Under Pressure (without/ Queen)
Um, no, thank you.
<gently>
But that wasn't the fault of either Bowie *or* Mercury; reconsider?
Interesting.....I think that you'll find the opposite is true with the average RP listener. I'm at a 9, rounded up from 8.5, as it looses .5 because of Vanilla Ice "using" that famous bass line.
About 12 years or so ago, just before she and I got together, my wife got to see Queen w/ Paul Rodgers. While "the Voice" is NOT Freddie Mercury, she was impressed with Paul's ability to match some of the vocal range of Mr. Mercury. I wonder if there's a good quality live version of that, or perhaps some studio recordings of Paul w/ Queen? PEACE & Long Live RP!!
Maybe collaborate too...
The rehearsal
Wonderful beings singing together
It's a ten !⚛
I've heard this song so many times here and on FM that I'd welcome Vanilla Ice.
Careful what you wish for!
Crap, I'm getting senile. I thought it WAS Ice, Ice Baby when it first came on.

I bet you like to wander the cancer wards saying "Beats being dead, though!"

Every F'ing way. And while he's at it, why not bring Freddie along for the ride.
Way cool.
Well, it had been a year. Ok let's try this again…

CLASSIC. Of its time and ours. Great fuckin' tune.
but it isn't.
Never a better misnomer "thewiseking".
Solid '9' - just because all works to make it greater than its parts.
