Wish I could have seen Stevie, and with Dick Dale.
Just Wow!
I’ve seen Dick several times at Middle East in Cambridge.

Never had a chance to see SRV but saw Dick Dale at the intimate Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver shortly after Pulp Fiction revived his career and he was freaking amazing and having such a great time. When he wasn't blasting us with blistering guitar licks he was in constant banter with the audience, happily sharing tales of being back on the road and loving it. He was so thrilled - he'd just hot his first computer (as had most of us!) and he had this thing called "email" and if we wrote him a letter he promised to read each and every one but couldn't promise he'd write back - claimed he couldn't type very fast. More than made up for that with his flying fingers on his guitar.

I saw SRV on the bill with Roy Buchanan. Roy blew him away.

I hadn't realized Stevie played on Bowie's China Girl, but now I can hear his distinct style clearly, as with this tune.
GREAT!!!

SURF'S UP!!!
Anything with Dick Dale automatically gets a 10 in my book!

RIP boys! Now playing in Heaven...something to look forward to!
These 2 could slay a guitar. That’s for sure.
Unmistakable Dick Dale
I had the good fortune to see Dick Dale around 2015 at the tiny Sellersville Theater in tiny Sellersville PA - it was friggin amazing - you might even say atomic - the sound that came from those fingers/guitars/amps was truly nuclear!
A few modern(ish) incarnations of surf music:
The Sir Finks
The Mermen
Pollo Del Mar
Los Straightjackets
The Sandblasters
...
If I give it another 10, does that mean its a 20?

Pipeline was one of my absolute favorites. Then. Cranked this version right up! Still a favorite.

80s. LOL. Kids.
another nice way to experience the thrill:

SRV.....the King....(the Tcar)!!!
never before heard until RADIO PARADISE  thank you
Unbelievable.  Godlike.  2 masters coming together and creating nuclear-fusion-like power.
David had a stolen Mattel Wing Ding in the crawlspace of his house. I had my Ludwig. Band snare. Farlow had a Harmony and Duck  had one too I think.
Somebody knew. the Pipeline riff and also GLORIA! We were probably 13. It didn't go anywhere.
Awesome SRV tune!!!{#Bananajam}

Every time I hear this song I remember this joke. I hope you won't be offended...

Three Italian nuns die and go to heaven where they are met by St. Peter at the Pearly Gates.
St. Peter says “Ladies, you all led such wonderful lives, that I’m granting you six months to go back to Earth and be anyone you want”.
The first nun says, “I want to be Sophia Loren” and *POOF* she’s gone.
The second says, “I want to be Madonna” and *POOF* she’s gone.
The third says, “I want to be Sara Pipalini”.
St. Peter looks perplexed. “Who?” he says.
“Sara Pipalini,” replies the nun.
St. Peter shakes his head and says, “I’m sorry, that name just doesn’t ring a bell.”
The nun then proceeds to take a newspaper out of her habit and hands it over to St. Peter.
He reads the paper and starts laughing. “No Sister,” he laughs, “this says ‘Sahara Pipeline, laid by 500 men in 7 days!”

"20 bucks, same as downtown."

One of Bill's best-ever sonic segues: last chord of "Driven to Tears" to opening chord of "Pipeline."

My favorite southerner told me he once engaged in an affair with the wrong coworker.  He lost his job.  He said to me, "I learned a lesson.  Don't poke your pecker in the payroll.".   I have lived well following his advice.
Reminds me of being in Santa Cruz, CA...and I live here already.  Love it out here with this song to go with it.

before the Beatles hit the USA and Canada, from about '59 to '64 it was Surf Music all the way... man I love this stuff. Have a large collection and played it around our pool, low and subdued...
This version with two legends... wow!!!

Dick Dale, miss you man.  I was lucky to catch him each time he toured through Florida over the past 10 years.  Probably 4 or 5 shows.  Just amazing to see a man in his late 70s thrash a guitar better than any punk from the last 50 years.   He was so friendly, happy, and put on a great show.  He lived a very clean life, and it showed in how great he was even in his later years.
Jesus, if this isn't "Godlike", what is?  Defined a genre.

He is named in the song title, which might not fit on your screen....

Stevie Ray Vaughan — Pipeline (w/ Dick Dale)

I've rated this an 8, sometimes it's exactly what I want to hear and other times it's OK as background music...and other times it's just noise.  Today I'm in the "I'm really digging this track right now!)  Long Live RP!!

Shouldn't Dick Dale be on the billing for this one as well?
Still and always my favorite...{#Fire}
This song makes me think of the music from the old Mega Man Nintendo game.  Every time.
Classic cool.
Stevie just foolin' around. And grinning.

Actually the reference to 'elbows out' refers to the nasty territorial behaviour that surfers can on occasion exhibit.

Though these days I am wondering if the small-handed President can ram through oil pipelines as he wishes to do.
Wow forgot about this one. Rave on Stevie Ray Vaughan
Where is the 11!!! SRV
R.I.P. Stevie - 26 years without you - 8/27/1990
Life Without You
Oh now baby tell me how have you been?
We all have missed you and the way you grin
The day is necessary every now and then
For souls to move on givin' life back again and again Fly on, fly on, fly on my friend
Go on live again, love again Day after day, night after night
Sittin' here singin' every minute as the years go passing by, by, by, by
Long look in the mirror we've come face to face
Wishin' all the love we took for granted love we have today Life without you all the love you passed my way
The angels have waited for so long now they have their way
Take your place

Greeting from Macedonia

This song makes me think of oil and natural gas pipelines. And the fact that y'all will be driving lots and lots this summer.

The romance of the open road, eh?

The romance... cuffed and detained just outside of town, (face down on a gravel road at about 3.am by some enthusiastic Border Specialist) skippin one of El Paso's weigh stations (wrong choice on my part - but back then) - (knew I was Canadian right away) - log book - second one they found so far - Where do ya think ya goin at this time of night? Try some of that romance -
Glad we're not theming here. Dick Dale may be disappointed. (I seriously doubt it). The Chantays may want royalties, though.
ahhhhhHHHH ...so good!
Makes me want to go home and watch The Munsters.  Love it.

perfect after logging on to work after a surf session! now opinion... why does every guitar shredder feel the need to play this song? Don't get me wrong, love SRV, the differences in style and tone really make this song put very strange images in my head....
I didn't realize that this version featured Dick Dale himself!  Or that this was from the Back to the Beach soundtrack!  Double retro!
I usually hate surf music, but this is pretty good. Lose the handclaps, though!
I guess I would enjoy this kind of music more if it would be played during the day my time. But since the real wild and nervous stuff is always played after 10pm our time. RP just hasn't got my nightsound. It has thow the perfect daytime-sound for us. Here in Zentral Europe. Too bad. It would also be great to have a PSD Button on the RP-App wich I am using to listen to RP over the sonos System. But I dont have a possibility to skip Songs like this that really spoil the Atmosphere with a glass of wine and the Fire in the Cheminée,

Other than that. love RP! ;-)

Much as I like the Chantays' version I grew up with, I like this as well or more. But then, there's not much SRV I don't like.
