I see ahead by a hundred moves
And I saw you, but I let you saw me in two
'Cause that's what illusionists do
The way you kissed me when you lost another valentine
The way you kissed me when you lost another valentine
The way you kissed me when you lost another valentine

There's no roses in this garden
No sun melting in the sea
I've been over and over and over and over it
You live for the final dance
Take your seven veils and sail the seven seas

Oh the roar and the whisper
In the focus of your stare
(Did we ever see or did I imagine harmony?)
The sordid rapture of draw and capture
Back to the four walls of your square

There's no roses in this garden
No sun melting in the sea
I've been over and over and over and over it
You live for the final dance
Take your seven veils and sail the seven seas
And don't come back for me

There's no roses in this garden
No sun melting in the sea
Over and over and over and over it
You live for the final dance
Take your seven veils and sail the seven seas

There's no roses in this garden
No sun melting in the sea
Over and over and over and over it
Take this final dance
Take your seven veils and sail the seven seas

Not sure what happened here but this album completely passed me by. I have at least six others from them, is this one as strong? This song doesn't jump out at me like theirs usually do...I suppose I should pick it up regardless.
Yikes, that album cover -- Swimming in China -- I bet you anything somebody peed in that pool....

Thanks! That's fascinating

Then why are you here?

I love Elbow so much, I'd also like to hear some Doves tunes...
I don't even know if there's a real connection, but always felt the same vibe... Dark, but crawling slowly towards the light... <3

Spread love my friends

Well there's the connection that both are Manchester bands...
Elbow... they grow on you!

Hey! An Elbow song that didn't completely annoy me!
Bumped from a 4 to a 5!

And cue the cutting backlash.....

No one really cares about your opinion.

I like it but it sounds an awful lot like previous material.

They are quite different but I get the same connection. May be because I discovered them about the same time on RP.  But then again,  on my Elbow Pandora channel Doves shows up frequently...

I  feel that way a lot of times when I first hear a song from a band that I like. I'm disappointed at first that it's not as good as other tunes they've put out, but after several listens, the melody or the musicianship fleshes itself out and you discover that it's a pretty good song after all.

Agreed... Elbow always grows on you with more listens.  I was initially underwhelmed by this album, but it's been in my rotation for months and now it rates with every other Elbow release.  I remember feeling the same way about Build A Rocket Boys.

this band got some really good tunes (especially on the RP playlist) but this....

not really a composition neither creating an ambiente..

not distrubing, not touching, simply nothing....

a flat 3

Always wondered why someone posts with no capitalizations of the first letter of the first word in a sentence. It's so inconsiderate, downright rude, even. And usually the comment is as sloppy as the writing. I never read them.
Takeoffs and Landings...... is (almost) a perfect album, I have not been impressed with their last 2 albums
meh. They've done better.
Like the cover though.

What an incredibly uninspired and boring piece of music!
New Elbow!

A solid 9 from the Dorset jury Thank you, Bill and the RP crew, for some new Elbow!
So excited for new Elbow.  Give Dexter & Sinister a play - this is my favorite from Giants of All Sizes.  Thanks Bill for keeping them in heavy rotation!
New Elbow!

Just got notice that my pre-order for this was just shipped. Thanks Bill for a little appetizer!
Excellent new album from an  iconic North England band.
