Miles and miles on my own
Warm with shame, I follow on
A language to find hard to hear
Not to understand, just disappear

To hold your heart, to hold your hand
Would be to me, the greatest thing
To hold your heart, hold your hand
Would be to me, the bravest thing

Could you take my place and stand here?
I do not think you would take this pain
You'd be on your knees and struggle under the weight
Oh, the truth would be a beautiful thing
Oh, the truth is a beautiful thing

I wear another thought of you
With so much harm my gift to you
Hide you somewhere they don't know
Deep in my core you know you have a throne

Hold your heart, hold your hand
Would be to me, the greatest thing
To hold your heart, to hold your hand
Would be to me, the bravest thing

Could you take my place and stand here?
I do not think you would take this pain
You'd be on your knees and struggle under the weight
Oh, the truth would be a beautiful thing
Oh, the truth is a beautiful thing

Nice!
She is a beautiful thing
Her voice alone bumps this to an immediate 7 for me... may drift towards 8+ with a few more listens...
Had to buy their 2 records after hearing all their songs on RP.  RP strikes again!

I know.  Annoying as hell, right?
What do you mean? This hasn't played in hours!.........
8 -> 7 and skip for too much airplay on rp
I commented on this 8 months ago... the amazing amount of positive comments since then makes it 9 --> 10 for me...
Never heard this before. She's amazing.
Its songs like this is why I LOVE RP....I would never hear this artist on commercial radio (at least out here in the woods of centra PA)
Such a sad song !
One of those songs that make me stop play RP...because I have to go over to(insert you fav online music shop) and listen to the rest of the album and eventually buy it.
great singer 🎼
Bumped from a 9 to a 10 gets the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.
Bill, has anybody told you lately that you are the best DJ EVER?

Stone Temple Pilots Vasoline straight into London Grammar Truth is a Beautiful Thing.

That's a beautiful thing.
I've just had to move this from 9 -> 10
This beyond beautiful.
Cuts through the mundane songs like a shaft of laser light. Now where are my rose tinted glasses.
Should be on daily prescription.
Bought the whole album after finding this here on RP. Thanks!!!
so beautiful..had to stop and close my eyes
Loving the restraint of over production qualities. Appreciating the sparseness and beauty of meaningful atmosphere. Loving the truth...it's a beautiful thing indeed.
had to buy it, .mp3.

listen in my car where no one else can see me getting misty eyed
Totally beautiful whilst simultaneously so sad.
God please make this pedal sound more discretely.
Like my wife just said - goosebumples!
Her voice is ethereal.......beautiful
Makes me stop whatever I'm doing and check once more that I have rated this 10 on RP!
Transcendent
Fab. Fab. Fab.

dunno about Truth but this voice is truly a thing of beauty.
Grabs me even more today.

8 9
And live, her voice is every bit as good. A rare thing in these days of autotune...

Like many listeners, I am a bit in love with this voice.

well said
Tears running down my cheeks whenever I hear this song. No idea why.
Love the simplicity of the song. Beautiful voice accompanied by crystal clear notes of the piano.
Makes my hair stand on end, in a great way, every time I hear her voice.

Interestingly, earlier, RP played a Florence cut that had very similar sonic qualities in that it demonstrated Flo's truly remarkable vocal skills without her pulling the Grace Slick blast-the-hair-off-your-head-thing that Flo has also mastered.

Yes it is...
This beautiful song... geez. Makes me tear up. What a gorgeous voice.

Pearls before swine
It's been said she has stage fright and so live shows are few and far between. Jeeze. Stripped down music, a stunning voice. Perfect.

That voice.  Oh my.
That voice....
simple and stunning.
Amazing voice...love her range
The truth is not the truth
I love her voice.
I really like this album.  I hope Bill will play other songs from it.
The more I hear this song, the more I love everything about it.

The song is beautiful too.
 This is Great English.
Clean, crystalline voice soaring above a sparse but lovely piano arrangement.  Sublime.

Shouldn't a woman with that great a voice not also be blessed with a perfect face and hair?   I'm feeling like a member of a lower species, here.

Just work on your air brushing.  You should be fine.
The Trump Administration banned this song. Why are we still hearing it?

It's called youth.

Yes, Mother Nature should not let this happen again

But, Mother Nature is well knowed for not being fair...

Reminds me of Annie Lennox - not the same, but great like Annie... based on this song, at least.  Want to hear more.

What a voice! I've always loved this group.
Come on, get in touch with your soft side.

Nice song, but it gets too much airplay. Once per week would be enough.
Mommy make it stop!!!!!!
Please play more songs from this album Bill.  I'm glad you play this one but it's down the list of my favorites from this latest effort.
Thanks RP for playing this and introducing me this amazing voice...
Lovely, lovely song.
It's only fault is it's now overplayed...
very nice!
Amazing…
Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. What a voice!
{#Hearteyes}
I erased this album after a few listens on my device - just didn’t feel as poignant as their previous one. However, this song does stand out as stellar.
Just discovered this album a year ago, and it's become one of my favourites. I prefer the song "Hell to the liars", but this is also a great one.
Keep playing tracks off this album Bill!!! Our whole house stops what it's doing for a few beautiful moments....
Amazing.
Haunting

I love this emotive piano work, too...  this song squeezes my gizzards...  big 10...
The beauty of radio. I've been playing this album to death and loving it. But when you hear a track unexpectedly it's so much better.

Given your 10 rating for songs by Dylan, Tom Waits, Derek Trucks, Leo Kottke, etc., my guess is that you don't put a premium on (absolutely) beautiful voices...
Ain't that the truth.
7 > 8
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Every track on this album is as good as this one

On most days I'd rate this higher but it's annoying right now so -> 5.Tough shit.

Well, if you really wanted to be tough guy, macho, super individualistic, you could always bang your head against a brick wall for half an hour.

Or head out and hurt a stranger.....
Great album.  Love it.
On most days I'd rate this higher but it's annoying right now so -> 5.Tough shit.
This soulful voice ... this wonderful piano ... leaves me speechless. Wow, just wow! But I have to disagree with Hannah: sometimes truth ist too hard to bear (and especially hard to find these days).

One of the most piercing, perfectly enchanting voices in Music today. Thanks, RP, for making me aware of such a Beautiful Thing!

I was going to say something about how good Florence and the Machine can be when Flo Welch can stop herself from shouting. It's not them at all!

But could I forgiven for finding the voices similar in character?

Oh, and a beautiful song which has brought tears to my eyes for no apparent reason. Bastards.

True enough in its fashion.  But no offense meant to Flo as I like her, but she's more the bellowing type.  Subtlety doesn't seem her strong suit.  This London Grammar lady however...she sings quite nicely to my admittedly unrefined ears; such as I have left after all these years.  Heh!

Hauntingly beautiful...
I have to stop what I'm doing and just listen when this comes on.
And BTW - her voice is impeccable live. Her tuning is perfect.
Hannah Reid, eh?
I'm a bit unhealthily obsessed with these guys at the moment....
Wow, such an intensely beautiful and emotive voice, makes my hair stand on end in a good way every time I hear it.  That said, a post below referenced a YT vid, which I checked out along with the others posted there, and found that London Grammar's music is all rather similar; I hope they can develop more variety in their sound.  They are obviously hugely popular in Europe and in the USA, so let's keep the fingers crossed that they can stay ahead of their label's fiscal pressures and let their young creativity flow.
8 for the vocals.
This song is a beautiful thing.
Very nice.  I'm picking up a Joan Armatrading vibe.

Fabulous voice. I love it. A good alto and spacey moody song!
Quality shines through all! Will be adding this to my collection. It's always great to discover a gold nugget on RP. Mil gracias.

Beautiful.  Her voice sounds both stronger and sweeter than previously, to my ears.  1 votes?  Really?

Nasty backlash!

Great voice, nice instrumentation. Interesting arrangement.

I'll have to bump up my grade on hearing this the first time to counter the evilness of the 1s....

This is nice.
Not nearly as good as their debut album, but still likeable. Every track sounds the same, though.

I am really enjoying this album.
First one.  {#Roflol}  Brooding, pensive cover....nice font.
