Today you turned around my heart's call
This tiny life ain't been strangled after all
Time, time, time, time
Never ask what's become of us

Just dedicate your sorrow
Here and now
To the soul of the sea
And me

Rushin' to me
You turned around my song's call
You dreamer in the sand
You just lie there laughing 'til the fall

Kindest lover, I can't stay alone tonight
Come on, bring me all your love
Here and now
Come rushin' to me

Wake up late without a smile
Telephone rings, you run like a child

On the street into the day
The people I meet have nothing to say

No smile, no sorrow
No laughter, no tomorrow

They talk hen to hen
They talk about their men
And they practice all the tricks for them
Too soon nightime coming on
Deep in the darkness feeling alone

No rain, no seed
No dreams, no silence

Far away today
Mama ocean hold me to you
Come on, rock me on your waves
Tell me, is it all true?

Time, time, time, time
Never ask what's become of us
Dedicate your sorrow
Here and now
To the soul of the sea

---

Heading out this morning into the sun
Riding on the diamond waves, little darlin' one

Warm wind caress her
Her lover it seems
Oh, Annie
Dreamboat Annie, ship of dreams
Oh, Annie
Dreamboat Annie, little ship of dreams

Going down the city sidewalk alone in the crowd
No one knows the lonely one whose head's in the clouds

Sad faces painted over with those magazine smiles
Heading out to somewhere won't be back for a while

Won't be back for a while
Won't be back
Won't be back

wow! haven't heard this in years, forgot all about it.

so much fun to play the "my favorite" mix and things like this pop up.
Cut & paste from various Wikipedia articles:

After Dreamboat Annie became a million seller, Mushroom took out a full-page ad in the December 30, 1976, issue of Rolling Stone magazine touting the band's success, using the headline "Million to One Shot Sells a Million". The ad looked like the front page of the tabloid newspaper National Enquirer and included a photo from the Dreamboat Annie cover shoot. The caption read: "Heart's Wilson Sisters Confess: 'It Was Only Our First Time!'".

In an interview that appeared in the July 28, 1977 issue of Rolling Stone, the sisters cited this advertisement as a key reason for their decision to leave Mushroom Records. (Ann and Nancy appeared on the cover of that issue of Rolling Stone as well.) Heart broke its contract with Mushroom and signed a contract with CBS subsidiary Portrait Records, resulting in a prolonged legal battle with [Shelly] Siegel [Mushroom Vice-president and creative director].

Siegel moved to the L.A. office, but suddenly died due to an aneurysm on 17 January 1979.

Awesome!!  Love it.
Recorded at our Mushroom Studios!

46 years on, still a winner.
This is such a cool mix and a pleasure to listen to. There are three versions of "Dreamboat Annie" on the album, and this one I think is superior. The one that segues into "Crazy on You" is also nice. The whole album is a delight to listen to for a bit of 70's back-flashing.
First major album recorded at our studio, Mushroom Studios in Vancouver - and one of the truly great ones!
She was a catch and release. Sigh.
More Heart please.....like a whole bunch!!!
That is horrible. They played at my high school when I was a kid... overrated imho.
44 years later and I love this song more than ever. Epic.

Takes me away from the the sadness in my heart right now. Thank you Heart.
Years ago in Seattle when the EMP still held musical events, Heart and others  performed one night.  No seats only standing room.  I looked back to a private balcony and saw Paul Allen standing there with a few friends.  It was a great concert in a relatively small venue.
This is so beautiful and relaxing to listen to in an otherwise stressful life, of late.  And Heart is so talented.  This is yet another example of their virtuosity in addition to their hit songs.

Great songs!

I was going to say the same thing... the sound quality on this is very, very clear.
Gosh how many songs is this?! ;)
such yummy memories conjured by this
The cool thing about this album is that there are three different arrangements of "Dreamboat Annie."
Used to date a woman named Anne, and I would call her Dreamboat Annie, Ship of Dreams.
Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.  What a summer!

Back during  there tour I saw in 1979, the encore was a Zep tune, could have been Stairway, I honestly don't remember.
I love that you put these 2 together, I would not mind if you played this everyday, I never tire !!!!

Seems like the music and the naughty neighbor girl both pulled on your Heart Strings, CoJo....my similar story is not RP worthy...if/when that female artist's music is heard here I'll fill in the details.

As for the band, Heart was/is a HUGE part of the music history of Seattle.  We were all a bit dismayed when Parkers (where Heart was the "house band" for years) was finally torn down....I believe at least once if not twice this club in Seattle's north neighbor, Shoreline, was slatted to be torn down and locals helped stop that from happening.  Now I think we have a car dealership on the lot, or maybe it's a cannabis store....oh damn the loss of cultural-historical places.  I'm at an 8 on this one with thoughts of going to 9....and as always...Long Live RP!!
Nice find for me!  No filter on my cigarette
even when they're not rocking, Heart rocks
Listened to this for 40+ years and still play it regularly. A great song from one of my favourite albums of all time.

Prior to Dreamboat Annie (so, mid 70's), when they played club gigs around US Pacific Northwest and Canada's Pacific Southwest, Heart almost always included covers of Led Zep as part of their song line up. Because they could pull it off.

A great summer afternoon song.
stands up to the passing of time very well.
Crazy On You was on this album.  Now that was a track for the centuries!
Had not heard this song in 15 years I think. Thanks for reminding me!! Love it.
Always  a treat to hear the Wilson sisters.

Can it really be that 41 years have gone by? As timelessly beautiful and sonically transcendent now as ever, in my opinion... Love it!
Their masterpiece. Great album.

That end bit sounded like a Glen Campbell tune.
Love this song! It conjures up memories of smoking cigarettes pilfered from my mom's pack as a crazy teenager. Love the vocals, love the lyrics - love!
cool Heart thank you
I've been listening to several CD lately, forgive me - albums, from the 70's. It occur to me that those musicians were actually ——- musicians.  True artists of their instruments as well as good song writing. Rarely found in much of todays pop/rock genre.
Ugh. Again?
What a superbly written & produced album.   I was 20 when this came out and I had just purchased a new stereo system.  The phone ringing & the typewriter typing sound like they are actually in the room with you.  They play this song live so well to this day.

Great Album!

Back in the day, I couldn't turn the channel quick enough when any Heart came on the radio..  but this is really nice to hear.
NICE BILL!! MORE PLEASE, NEVER TOO MUCH HEART!
It is so refreshing to hear something from this album that isn't radio tired. Beautiful.

Amazing vocals indeed. This is simply awesome...
Brings back happy memories from those university daze!
Saw them when they were touring for the Little Queen album.
Not sure if it was the enhancements I had that evening , the company I was with or the concert was that good, but it was magical.
Easily In the top 5 concerts I've been to, performance, sound, everything just came together.
Went to another of their concerts about 5 years later, it was OK but they seemed bored. Still a good concert, but I had the earlier concert to compare it to.

Memories........

Damn!!  not heard Soul Of the Sea in close to 40 years! it was one of my first albums.. bought it not long after I bought Joni's "Blue" and Loggins & Messina's "Full Sail"..

Crazy for You was the big hit on the album but I think I wore out the Soul Of the Sea tracks on the LP after about a year!!

Thanks for this.. just went to iTunes and bought this classic

Yes, that has been true far too often, but generally not if the song was written by a woman (or two women, as is the case with this song). It is a good tune.
Yes, thank you.  Love Heart.

Wow, this magical beat, these enchanting vixens' voices, that incredible liquid bass, and that precise, ringing guitar grabbed my heart and made me think of times spent listening to it in its early days that marked my days falling in love with the long-legged basketball star older girl next door and my nights visiting her in her room, trying not to wake her parents, oh, the summer days, oh, the summer nights, and Heart was The Soundtrack of the Times, for the long country drives, the leisurely picnics, the fishing hole, the canoe trips, the camping weekends, the Endless Frisbee and Weed and Beer bliss... I'm really digging hearing it play on through now as we used to!

The fishing hole?! Christ, is that you, Opie?
(I jest, C-John; it all sounds awesome.)

Ah yes, Mushroom Studios in False Creek.
It thrived for years but finally shut down a few years back (moved to To.?).
They did a great job with this album; very clean sound with punchy bass.
Heart was my first concert.  My best friend Tom and I saw Heart at Stabler Arena (Lehigh University in Bethleham, PA).  We were in high school.  I remember buying the tickets in the back of a Sears department store at a Ticketron.  Many shows later and he is still my best friend.
