Hot sand on toes, cold sand in sleeping bags,
I've come to know that memories
Were the best things you ever had
The summer shone beat down on bony backs
So far from home where the ocean stood
Down dust and pine cone tracks

We slept like dogs down by the fire side
Awoke to the fog all around us
The boom of summer time

We stood
Steady as the stars in the woods
So happy-hearted
And the warmth rang true inside these bones
As the old pine fell we sang
Just to bless the morning.

Hot sand on toes, cold sand in sleeping bags,
I've come to know the friends around you
Are all you'll always have
Smoke in my lungs, or the echoed stone
Careless and young, free as the birds that fly
With weightless souls now.

We stood
Steady as the stars in the woods
So happy-hearted
And the warmth rang true inside these bones
We stood
Steady as the stars in the woods
So happy-hearted
And the warmth rang true inside these bones
As the old pine fell we sang
Just to bless the morning.

We grow, grow, steady as the morning
We grow, grow, older still
We grow, grow, happy as a new dawn
We grow, grow, older still
We grow, grow, steady as the flowers
We grow, grow, older still
We grow, grow, happy as a new dawn
We grow, grow, older still

Definetly Good Bye Blue Skye inspired. But a nice song anyway. So many songs got inspiration from somewhere, be it "Whiter Shade of Pale" with Bach bass line.

Sounds similar or "inspired", especially the vocal adornments, but it's a different chord progression, not that that matters to most people here.

Me too - heard it straight off the bat. Thought it was going to be a slow motion cover.
Just at this particular moment, this particular song playing is like soft, warm rain on a dusty day. Thank you, Ben Howard. Thank you, Radio Paradise.
OOOHHHHMMMMM
again, I am wrong. I was going to blame this on Cloud Cult or maybe even Elbow...I find this weird and grating, though it ranks a solid 7 by the RP crowd. I may catch on...

Everything is relative. Even the most stable person in your life is going through so many things, but the the most important thing is how hard they work to stay in your orbit (and vice versa).
Look, mummy. There's an airplane up in the sky.
Great imagery painted like a master. Ben Howard has created almost a classical piece as we hear the different movements. His lyrics recant the days I camped under the pines on a North Carolina island and enjoyed life, in a dream. 9

I too hear Goodbye Blue Sky at the opening of this tune every time it comes into the rotation.  That said, I still enjoy this Ben Howard song, though not at the same level as the aforementioned Floyd tune!

Good song, unfortunately, the rest of the album does not live up to this.  But he is awesome live.  Saw him open for Mumford & Sons.
This get's better every time I hear it.  Nice song.
