It seems most funk tunes are written in 4/4 time, with the rhythm and syncopation being accentuated.
Rhythmic music ordinarily requires more than one beat per bar; a "1/4" time notation wouldn't indicate any sort of pulse other than the main beat and would be hard for a musician to interpret.  I guess a 1/4 notation could be used to indicate an additional beat at the end of a bar - like adding it to a bar of 6/8 to indicate where the beat comes in a 7/8 bar.
I agree, this sounds like 4/4, and is it a cool tune.

From what I can tell, Metallica isn't nearly as popular as it used to be. The drummer seemed especially snotty and obnoxious in their heyday.

This reminds in parts of Talking Heads' "Listening Wind" from "Remain in Light."

And now I'm hearing bits of the theme song to "Game of Thrones."

This is actually pretty cool in a warm, wood-paneled intense kind of way.

Cellos are very interesting and depending on how and what they are "partnered with" can be very powerful sounding to me. The new Agnes Obel disk is also full of cello sounds.

All the instrumentation is cello. She plays through a sampler live and layers tracks on top of each other to build up the song. Basically, she's a one woman band. Not only is the cello capable of a wide range of sounds, but she is capable of pulling a lot out of the instrument.

It is very doubtful something like this would ever go to court.  This song is not going to be the source of the kind of money it would take for anyone to want to pursue legal action.  George Harrison's hit song on the other hand....

Saw Ms. Keating at Dante's in Portland in '06 when she was opening for Imogen Heap.  I had no idea what to expect (Zoe who?), and was very pleasantly surprised and taken with her performance.  She played with Imogen on one or two songs as well, a superb collaboration.  A better double bill of one-woman bands I cannot imagine.  

Very nice to hear her music on RP.

Love this blend of moody strings, Celtic percussion with shades of Africa, swirling around the musical globe.
