Oh I was in the dark age
Searching for the ones in my mind
I'm so far away
But I had hit the ground running
Steady as you go I don't mind
I'm still here today

Oh Spouting hymns and buzzing rhymes
And forever talking when it ain't so kind
But it feels like forever on the run
When your mind turns to fiction

I had took the long way
I was in the heat I don't mind
I'm so far away
But it feels like forever on the run
When your mind turns to fiction
Oh Nudging the ghost from the skull
And a night without sleep
Vibration comes
First to the head and last to the feet
Spouting hymns and buzzing rhymes
And forever talking when it ain't so kind
But it feels like forever on the run
When your mind turns to fiction

Love it, when the Swedish Female Handball Team's tour-bus stops right in front of our house, just like last week!
I thought they were the Swedish Girls!
I simply love those greasy strings, and the piano, and the vocals, ...and all.
Starts off and I think.... is this from King of Limbs? Something later from RH? No.
Really like this song, thx RP.
A wonderful album, their best yet.
Thought it was alt-J at first until I read the notes.

The whole album (and subsequent one) are spot on! So emotive and deep. My favorite band by a long shot!!!

This song has some sort of an eery atmosphere, plus the album cover, like it's from the X-files. I like it very much, but I'm scared at the same time. In short, I don't want to have this song in my mind when I go to sleep. And now I'm sure it's going to happen. {#Ask}

Much love for Other Lives
Sounds like the Moody Blues, and that's a good thing.
Nice
I hear this song again and I love it all over again! There is something very lovely, beyond the mellodrone.
Amazed nobody's mentioned a similarity between this and Roy Harper

Great Song!

One of those songs that bear the RP spirit at its finest...
First time posting...Love this program oh so much via @kzfr. i live in Oroville, CA...A short twenty minutes fom where the magic happens. I wait all day for Radio Paradise. even on the days i have to be at work at 8a.m. even just for a pygmy hint...👏👍👌✌
Back to back with Codex by Radiohead is very, very godlike {#Crown}
Radiohead Codex to this ...brilliant! Wish I had some of that hash oil from the 70's......I'd listen to those 2 songs over and over for a couple hours kinda like I did back then with my David Crosby If I Could Only Remember My Name album.....all very dreamy, ethereal, float away on the wave, ok who's turn is it to flip the album over type music.

Wonderful film. Saw it for the first time the same year it came out, and - despite being slightly too young at the time to appreciate the subtle acting and scene direction - I could not look away. A similar feeling towards this song.
Solid 7. The background vocals are very reminiscent of another song that I can't quite place.
This is such a cool and different vibe.

I like this quirkiness

The nice thing about RP is being introduced to new music. You have also introduced me to a new film. Thanks

I really disagree with your point about comments.  I think the point of a comment should be about the songs and what the listener thinks of them.  If people don't like a song then they should say so.  Also, I like snark, while you can come off as a bit smarmy.  If you prefer smarm, that is your right.

Precisely my point. The commenter wasn't commenting on the song. I agree with you that the comments should be directed at the song, regardless of their pertinence, logic, sense, or grammar--not ab hominem commentary about another RP member or their POV. If that's smarm, I embrace it wholeheartedly.

And this film reflects nothing but the truth! I lived there as a teenager before the wall came down.

You are not the only one. That movie was haunting, as is this music. Sticks to your ribs.

Still hauntingly beautiful; very nice production.

I think you missed the point, which was that trolls should understand that they, too, have alternatives other than leaving their droppings on RP's threads. Besides, what's wrong with alternatives? KEXP is listener supported, just like RP, and is a non-profit to boot. I contribute to both because I listen to both. Next time read a bit more carefully and keep the snarky name-calling in your pocket.

I habitually listen to KEXP whenever some sets turn over just a bit too frequently on RP. Great station. And a small nudge to my trolling friends out there: if you don't like it here, there's a lot of stuff to choose from. Go on. Take a risk. You'll thank me for this.

Nice range.   Nice use of falsetto.

This gets better with subsequent listens.

The snooker commentators are my fav though..
I'm glad I'm not the only one here who thinks these fellas are outstanding..so mature, compelling in their songs. Part of me wishes they were more well-known, but then the other part likes that they are still my (ok, our RP communities') little secret :)

Seen them twice in 2012 London and Paris - great band live and proof that theres good innovative music out there ;

I've had enough of radio stations that wallow in 1980s songs (and usually the same songs everyday!)

Just discovered RP recently and sticking with it;-)

these guys are amazing live. they all play at least 4 different instruments...sometimes all in the same song! impressive and talented!

Nay lad, he dun't sound nowt like Lennon. Sounds maw-lark aw'kid.
I like the band and tune, but I can't help seeing this image of Bert when I hear the lead singer...

 They opened for Radiohead here in Denver and at least part of the 2012 tour.

I saw them live in Utrecht, the Netherlands. As we entered the venue, the few people there were all sitting on the ground, talking and waiting. We took it as a bad sign, but boy... were we wrong! The venue eventually filled up and Other Lives took us all by surprise. Their vocals are absolutely on par, if not better, live, but what I liked most is that these guys/gal manage to produce an orchestral sound with just 5 musicians. All of them play multiple instruments; most impressive was the bass/keys guy. He played both... simultaneously!

Definitely a concert worth remembering. They must have loved the experience too, seeing as one week later they were back in Utrecht, hanging out in a café. {#Cheers}

Good description. Makes me want to check them out live.

Have loved "other lives" for a while now — this song from their newest album is a stand out (whole thing is great in one, sweeping listening)

This is a song I play during one of my longer runs — it really helps to keep a steady pace and of course, great for the ears {#Dancingbanana_2}

That's odd: especially since these guys are apparently from near you - based out of Stillwater, OK.
Haunting, almost scary maybe.... But beautiful!
Also a bit of a Younger Brother sound... which is a very good thing
Thought it was Radiohead for the first 20 seconds or so, nice song!
Recently bought the CD - it's quite good overall.  If you like this tune you will really like the whole disc.
I really like this. Music is very appealing....draws you in.
I wonder if whoever rated this one as a 1 hears anything on RP that they like.

Check out the video, not quite what i expected, but quite nice though ;)

New to me — will check out the rest for sure.  This one gets an "8" out of the gate.

Great atmosphere, mysterious voices, rythm which takes you with it. Shortly : great song, never heard about the artists. New discovery. Thanks to RP
Never heard of them, but I remain quite curious and would like to hear more.
This band opened for Bon Iver in San Diego several months ago, and I thought Other Lives was a far more interesting band.
Its... Tame... but maybe it grows on you? So far... not growing... I think the ex girlfriend who just dumped me would like this... not a plus. AND its being played TOO much this month... annoying.
Saw these guys open for Radiohead a month or so ago. Got this CD and the one before it. they've been in heavly rotation for the past few weeks. I like it a little better, but both of them are excellent.
best song on my favourite album of 2011

That was intersting and not bad....I'll look forward to hearing it again...nice job
